Inraider
I think it was just normal "NEW RIDE" breakdowns, getting the bugs worked out and running it for extended periods of time. It was just normal down time for a new ride, they all do it!
teenageninja
I still have my doubts, but Delirium seems to be working fine in about the same enviroment. Bremen is actually north of us, so it is probably harsher weather up there. So it should work out fine.
Guest theataris
Delirium, or delerium if you prefer, was not assembled for a long time in Germany, so the weather would have little to no effect on their tests. However, sitting outside for all of next winter and all of the subsequent winters will be a real test for Huss about how their rides will stand up. The Jump 2 at PCW will get an even worse test. teenageninja
I'm sure it was up for a couple weeks or a month. That couple of weeks or month was probably about equal to a stretch that we'd get.
PKICoasterFreek
Delirium will work just fine, I think so, but leaving the piece out int he snow and ice coulndn't have been good for it!!!
teenageninja
I could see where it wouldn't be good for it you'd think that they would design it with those weather conditions in mind. I'm thinking that that steel was pretty much unaffected by the snow.
Beastfreak
Umm, the paint and primer on that thing is protecting the steel. You have no worries about it being affected by the snow and ice that we have had. All the mechanical equipment is concealed and won't be bothered. teenageninja
That's what I figured, but I wasn't just going to blert it out. It's like letting a car sit out all winter, does it really get affected that much.
Guest theataris
You'd be surprised at what sitting can do to a car, even for a breif period. Its the worst possible thing you can do to it, save for running it into a tree. I doubt that Delirium stood for any more then a week, time is not on their side with a new ride, they'd much rather get the thing over here to its permanant place. I'm sure the temporary footers they built it on over there can only take so much stress, so many runs, and as such, the ride didn't stand for more than probably a week. Beastfreak
Well Delirium isn't a car. It doesn't have a gas powered engine. Just an electrical one which cold doesn't really affect cause you don't have pistons running up and down, metal scraping against metal at high rpms. Its completely different things. AZ Kinda Guy
Folks, Delirium, or any part of it for that matter, was FINE sitting out in the weather. Do you honestly not think the engineers plan for this kind of weather?
DanielRadsgrl
Why is there a big huge hole under the arm I asked my dad and he said that it was because like of face off the floor drops down. I didn't read all the messages and maybe someone already mentioned this but I was just wondering.
Beastfreak
Yup, its for the retractable floor.
bitemeboi
Hey Guys...I hust read on coasterforce.com that Delerium was completed....maybe they will actually have the bugs worked out of it by opening day since they got it done so early
Beastfreak
Actually the ride isn't "finished" so to say. There is still stuff to do. Not everything is complete yet. The video they link to is again from Germany before it was shipped here.
teenageninja
Yea, there is still theming to do, grass and stuff to plant. Queue to set up, all minor stuff. The only thing they might have to do is add the sears and finish the floor ride wise.
Beastfreak
They're putting in a Sears? Its going to be a mighty small shopping area then. PPH numbers will suck for that place.
PKICoasterFreek
A Sears????? What how in the world did SearS come up in Construction pictures???? And there is NO way that Delirium is totally done, there still is cement to be poured and things like that but, having the structural ride done, MAYBE!!! fyrfyter
I'm thinking that we probably won't see Delirium swinging, until we get within its operational temperature range. Everything has an operational temperature range. While I do think the ride will open on time, I doub't we will see it swinging with a temperature below say 40 degrees or so. Guest theataris
Haha. Teenage Ninja said sears and he meant seats, thats great fun... Sears sucks, i spend way too much time in there for it to be healthy, but anyway. I think if they had it ready to go, it could operate today. Except it probably doesnt like snow. Electric motors aren't as temperature sensitive as an internal combustion engine, but you know how it goes... If its 30 degrees on pass night, you probably won't see it running. why do i always contradict myself at least once in every post? i feel like a freaking moron sometimes. if only you guys could read my mind. then you would understand. Beastfreak
Oh, in that case, seats are already on. Floor almost done.
fyrfyter
I think when it comes to rides and operating temperature ranges, it not so much the motors that have a problem, because electric motors should run better when it is colder out, because they won't overheat. I think it is more of an expansion contraction thing with the metal the ride is made of. I don't know the exact amount a ride contracts and expands, but like eeverything else on the face of the earth, warm items expand while colder items shrink (I feel like a science teacher!). I think these expansions are why the rides are given operating temperature ranges.
Beastfreak
Sorry, but I just had to throw this in. Not everything skrinks when cold and expand when hot. Look at water. It expands when it freezes, thus opposite "almost" everything else on earth.
Dane
Thank you, Dr. Science. Water is the only exception though.
Guest theataris
You can't prove that. there's so much more to be studied, so many more elements and compounds to be discovered, science is so indefinate. Like some of the older folks on this site and my parents grew up thinking that pluto would always be the ninth planet, but right now its the eighth and they're not even sure its a planet. Just as an example, of course.
SixFlagsMasta
Does anyone know where we can see any newer pictures?
Guest theataris
i'm going up there probably tomorrow... so i'll have some crappy digital shots from fairly far away. but hey.
Beastfreak
Nothing new from the outside or else I would have posted them by now. I was hoping for more from Mr. Siebert on the PKI website but so far nothing. I'm sure we will see some new stuff here soon, give it time. Edit- Sorry the only thing new from the outside is that you can see the bright yellow insulation panels for Scooby Doo's new castle entrance. Drove past the park today and it is definetly noticable through the trees from the street.
teenageninja
So is it just the insolation foam up or is the whole castle facade up? I like how they are making this a lot taller, I think it would add to the atmosphere.
fyrfyter
I think the Castle entrance will have the "drawing" effect. What I mean is that, there is going to be this gigantic, huge, rather ominous looking castle, with a drawbridge and maybe a moat, nearby, that will "draw" people towards it. Look at AZ, with all the big rides, it always has the most people, in one area, and I think the tall castle will have the same effect in HBL.
