Leland Wykoff
Carrowinds was unable to open until 3:00 pm on one of the busiest days for the park due to a power outage. The Friday, July 5th, delay shaved five operating hours off the day. Carrowinds offered twilight pricing for the remainder of the day and extended operations by one hour. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2013/07/05/4148897/carowinds-loses-power-after-tree.html
IndyGuy4KI
CF is having some major issues when it comes to its relationship with mother nature! I hope they can get that resolved soon for everyone's sake!
The Interpreter
When Gary Story blamed weather for Six Flags performance, investors and enthusiasts guffawed.
Creed Bratton
KI also had a power issue yesterday (7/6) per http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/27699-7613-park-power-outage/It seems to me that once a year, there's a power surge or other issue. PKIVortex
Carowinds couldn't help that a tree fell on a power line and knocked power out to the park. And power outtages and surges happen, and these parks take a lot of energy to keep them running.
The Interpreter
..both utility-wise and people-wise (and wise people. See: Geauga Lake aka Six Flags Worlds of Adventure aka Six Flags Ohio and LeSourdsville Lake aka Americana, just to name two).

And power outtages and surges happen, and these parks take a lot of energy to keep them running. There wasn't doubt about that. I was just giving a statement, it seems that at least once a year KI has a power surge that shuts down a portion of the park, not sure about Carowinds as I don't frequent that park or news about it. Just to double your point, at Kennywood when I visited, a portion of the park was closed for half of the day due to a power surge, so yes, these things happen. PKIVortex
I remember in 1999 when I worked at KI when the entire park lost power, I just got off work and was changing into my street close when in the locker room when the entire room went black!
Oldiesmann
At least they tried to make it up to guests as much as possible - cheaper admission earlier in the day and the ability to use your ticket on a different day instead.
