Carowinds couldn't help that a tree fell on a power line and knocked power out to the park. And power outtages and surges happen, and these parks take a lot of energy to keep them running.

There wasn't doubt about that. I was just giving a statement, it seems that at least once a year KI has a power surge that shuts down a portion of the park, not sure about Carowinds as I don't frequent that park or news about it. Just to double your point, at Kennywood when I visited, a portion of the park was closed for half of the day due to a power surge, so yes, these things happen.

I remember in 1999 when I worked at KI when the entire park lost power, I just got off work and was changing into my street close when in the locker room when the entire room went black!

At least they tried to make it up to guests as much as possible - cheaper admission earlier in the day and the ability to use your ticket on a different day instead.
