While Intamin Impulses are fun, they aren't very reliable and don't have the greatest capacity. I believe that PKI's next coaster will be a B&M. If PKI wants the best, they have to go w/ B&M. They are the most reliable coasters out there, they are the safest, and they have extremely good capacity. B&M just seems like an extremely good fit for PKI IMO.

The onyl reason SOB and TR:TR had problems was because they were prototypes. (One of a kind rides). There is no other SOB on the face of this earth, it was a custom job, and prototypes always have problems. TR:TR had never been used in that capacity and setting before, and now it works fine. There are always little things to fix, and no matter what, new rides have their adjustment and break-in periods. I would say, no matter what, every new ride is bound to have its small problems when first installed.

Every new ride needs break in time, and that break in time causes breakdowns. Every ride has problems when it first put into use. Weather its as big as blown out moter, or as small as a squeek when you pull down the restraint. Rides arn't perfect, just like people.

EDIT: Thanks coasterfan, that was a big typo. rolleyes.gif

If you meant that rides aren't perfect, then yeah your right. I was just saying that they will want something that is at least similar to something that the company has built before so they have some idea of how to fix breakdowns.

PKI rarely builds anything that is like any other ride that has been built before. It seems PKI is really into custom rides, and not ride designs or types that exist at other locations.

That's very true, I have never seen a ride like The Beast or Son of Beast before and I have been to a ton of amusement parks. Invertago is the only ride that I have ever seen PKI build that was from a differant park, and it's Face/Off.

I believe Vortex at PCW is not a complete clone of Top Gun, though I could be mistaken. If so than there is really 4 clones, Runaway Reptar, Face/Off, Flight of Fear and Top Gun (though that is iffy) Though they are not cloned as same theme except Flight of Fear they were built at the same time.

But which park had the rides installed first? Did PKi install most of the rides first, and other parks rides were cloned off them, or did they install them at other parks, and then PKI? I would use that to test the theory of cloning of coasters and rides.

As far as order of completeness for clones.

Face/Off is a clone of Invertigo at PGA, Invertigo opened a year or two before Face/Off

Runaway Reptar is a clone of Silver Streak at PCW, Silver Streak was build a year before RR.

Flight of Fear is a clone of Flight of Fear at PKD, however, both opened the same year.

So out of the clones, only one wasn't build after another one, however, our versions are not the same name or color scheme as the other ones, thus not completly cloned like the B:TR and S:UF clones going in at Six Flags, thus we are at least creative.

Oh ok, I do really dislike 5 or 6 Batman The Rides, and now SF parks are just moveing their rides to other parks IE Viper @ SFOG is now in 2003 going to be Greesed Lightnin @ SFKK and Taz's Texas Tornado (Thriller) @ SFAW is now in 2003 going to be Zonga @ SFMW. Jeeze get some new rides SF! ph34r.gif

I think a hyper like Titan or Nitro would be cool tohave at PKI. But they aren't exactly the kind of coaster starters go on, they are for the people who like to be thrilled and go on Son of Beast and Beast. PKI is a family oriented park and I don't theink those coasters would go over to well. Or would they?

Umm lets see FOF isn't a family ride PKi put it in, Drop Zone is 50 50 you're either afraid or your not, Face/Off Isn't catered twords everyone with its high height requirement, I don't think PKI really bases all of their decisons on "Oh the little kids ,might be scared" SOB is a very popular ride and it's tall fast and rough. Pki knows that little kids like to have the anticipation of in a few more years I can ride that ride! ph34r.gif

Silver Streak did not open a year before Runaway Reptar. They both opened the same year; however Runaway Reptar opened before Silver Streak that year, thus making it the first junior inverted rollercoaster. So you could say Silver Streak was a clone of Runaway Reptar.

That's true, even if PKI doesn't base all of their decisions towards whether the family will like it or not, I'm sure it passes though once or twice during the process! and the idea about Titan and Nitro , I think would be great addition to PKI becuase it is taller that our current coasters ride now and though it isn't a record breaker it would still be a rather intence ride.
