I was riding past KI on Saturday morning (at 5:30, Show Choir competition in Columbus (ug)), and there was a mysterious BRIGHT floodlight out behind Son of Beast. I mean, it wasn't subtle at all. Really, really obvious. Has anyone else seen this, and what could it be? A new path between FOF and SOB???

MY NAME IS SAM!!!

That light could have been anything. UFO maybe? Perhaps the aliens in FOF have broken loose.

KI owns multiple portable flood lights. Most likely that is what it was.

It surely can't be another ride, because it would already have a crew and whatnot... They could have been pouring footers or something for a new ride, but it was really cold and snowy, so I doubt that too. Maybe surveying the terrain... but early on a saturday morning...?

I'm Will. Yeah, I thought it was pretty weird. What would require a huge floodlight at %:30 on a Saturday morning besides construction??? It wasn't where Delirium is, I know that.

Yeah, if you think about it, they would try to keep this as top secret as possible. You may think, "Then why did they use those HUGE lights?" well it was 5:30 in the morning! Not many people would be driving by!

Anyways, I do hope this is the first sign of a new coaster for 2004, SoB is getting a bit tiring (ive memorized the track layout). I'm ready for something brand new!

My guess? They forgot to turn the lights off. C'mon guys. Seriously. Someone working at the park on a early Saturday mornng other than security? At the end of February no less. biggrin.gif

KI has a lot of lights on. It may have just seemed brighter. I'm sure it was no big deal you are just going nuts from the offseason j/k. I have no clue what it is, but I really dont' thing it's a big deal.

I think there is a lot of stuff that goes on at PKI in the off season that most do not know about. Anything could be going on, from some type of construction, or some type of training from an area group. I know for a fact that this year, the Hamilton County USAR (Urban Search & Rescue) Team, was given access to the FoF building around a month or so ago, so they could practice rope rescue and rappelling. They usually do this in the largest room, and use the top of the build and the ride for anchor points. I know in the past, they have also used Drop Zone for this activity, in case the ride were to ever get stuck at the top of the tower, and they were unable to get it to come back down. That ride is rather interesting, with a small elevator that runs up through the middle of it. I would bet it was one of these activities or something else taking place on PKI park property, especially at that early in the morning.

Fun stuff. In response to previous posts, there is no way it could have "seemed brighter" or they just "forgot to turn the lights off." This was brighter than everything regularly is in running season. The training is the most logical, but I'm just going to believe they're building a new coaster...because I really want one.

I think that it would most likely have to be construction. But it may not be for just a ride it could be anything. And it would be really easy to build something without anyone knowing, at night atleast.

Let's think about this for a second. Let's say PKI was trying to hide the fact that it was building a new ride. Which would make more sense, working during the day when no bright construction lights are needed, or working at ungodly hours in the morning, when you probably need to pay the workers overtime and have very bright construction lights on? It is the off season and there is a lot more control over who enters the park and there are fewer people around to notice that there was construction going on. However, if you want to play devil's advocate, you could make the claim that they are trying to get it done before the start of the season and they excepsional far behind.

They might be working on land clearing for 2004, but I doubt it's a coaster this year. One they would advertise a coaster to gain an increase in profits. Also, they probably wouldn't want to pay that kind of overtime for that early. SOB work is likely, but I think it was something not that big.

All of the things they are working on seem like plausible, but why in the middle of the night? It just makes the cost sky-rocket and people tend to notice, while if they do it durring the day, no on will notice the large light.

it could ahve been anything. For all we know, they could have been back in there trimming trees in the middle of the night or........................ maybe they are changing something on SOB that will make it better? Just a thought. They could be adding tunnels to one or both of the helixes, which would be all out, cool.

there are a number of thing that could be happening in PKI. removing trees, treming tress, wor on SoB, pouring footer for a possible new ride in 2004, snow removal crews so construcion could take place, there are tons but I am hopeing for a new coaster in 04 so I hope they are surveying the land or pouring footers, but it sound obsurd to be outside in the early morning hour unless it is a snow removal crew. Just a thought! But I sure hope there is going to be a new coaster soooooooon! How about it?

If you are talking about to the right of SOB, that would be Adventure Express and the sun just hitting on the "stone" cross-overs. Though there was some work down there, trimming back trees, nothing more.
