CP&LERR Fan
There is some talk around asking what rides will disappear in the near future at Cedar Point? Two years ago they got rid of Paddle wheel excursion which would be 50 next year. So I think they might get rid of the anamatronic dinosaurs there which is 5 extra dollars to see them. I really don't think they'll get rid of any coasters for now. Anyways what do you think?
Sonofbeast2.0
I think dino's will be staying as long as turning a profit. Same with KI's

TheCrypt
The dinosaurs will stay for however long their contract says. I believe Kings Island's is up for renewal soon.
The Interpreter
Contracts can be renewed. And houses can be sold.

The Interpreter
More likely a house. Unless they make it a shrine.
TheCrypt
No. Houses can get demolished. Goodness. Mr. Terp is beating me to the punch seemingly in every thread!
Ride On_17
These are just my own opinions and are in no way based on any evidence, but since this thread just seems to be about our opinions, I'll fire away. This one doesn't necessarily call for the complete demolition, but I'd love for Mean Streak to get the RMC treatment. It has so much potential but is just so rough. Sometime in the near future I'd also like to see Corkscrew removed (hold on a sec, all you Corkscrew lovers--I'll expand my idea shortly), since it's just way too rough and short for me to like it. In addition to this coaster being removed, I'd also like to see Gold Dorms, Wardrobe, and Maintenance buildings razed and moved off point. There's already been talk that all the employee housing will be moved off the peninsula soon, and with the new maintenance building off site, I could easily see this happening. Imagine the large area available to use if Corkscrew, along with these neighboring buildings, would be demolished. This picture was posted on PointBuzz a little while back by Rcoaster10, and gives a good perspective of the site. Now back to those who want Corkscrew to stay. With this large space, I could see a new family looping coaster be added. I'd want it to give a nod to Corkscrew by having 2 corkscrews over the midway, but it would have a longer layout by using some of the land currently used by dorms, maintenance, etc. It would be smooth and would have an overall better ride experience. In addition to a new small family coaster, I also think this area has room for several flat rides. Maybe 1 or 2 family flats and 1 more thrilling flat. A third idea I have, and one that I know many other people have, is to build a midway connecting Celebration Plaza with the Blue Streak plaza. It would bring new life into this area, give Blue Streak a higher ridership since right now it's tucked away, and several new rides and coasters could be added. Once again, here's another photoshopped image from Rcoaster10 that shows what could fit in this area. In this pic, he has Sheikra, Goliath, and Skyhawk and Monster to show how 2 flats could also fit. I personally love this idea. Turnpike Cars and Cadillac Cars would have to be removed, but there would still be Antique Cars in the park. I never understood why the park has 3 of these types of ride. Also Perimeter road would be shifted and Cedars dorms would be demolished and moved off point.

I like the idea for the bluestreak and agree that it seams like less people are in that area, But You should know I love the corkscrew.
Ride On_17
Oh, no, not another Corkscrew lover! I just think it's boring and is rough. The worst parts about Corkscrew are...the Corkscrews! With a new family looping coaster, the park could keep the iconic corkscrews over the midway, but give it a longer ride time, make it more exciting, and best of all, make it smoother.

I don't recall it rough when I rode it. if you want a rough ride the Meanstreak, I watched my dad go on it while I waited for him Next to the station.
Ride On_17
Yeah, I will admit MS is rougher than Corkscrew. But I still think Corkscrew is rough. I even think Gemini is starting to get rougher and bumpier, but I'd be sad if the park removes that ride any time soon. Plus now we have so many newer coasters that are as smooth as butter, so a lot of older rides probably seem rougher once you ride a smooth new coaster.
SonofBaconator
I could see an "extermination" of one of their coasters. Someone needs to "stand up" to the problem for the guys' sake.

What is a "family looping coaster"? I see "family" and "looping" as mutually exclusive, so I am unable to figure out what you mean.
Ride On_17
Basically something like Corkscrew. Not too tall, not too fast, and could be the stepping stone serving as someone's 1st looping coaster. A ride that the whole family could go on together. Granted a little kid wouldn't be able to ride, but it wouldn't have a min. heigh above 48 inches. jcgoble3
Interesting. Like I said, I never would have thought of any coaster with inversion as a family coaster, but when you put it that way, it makes sense. Thanks for explaining.
malem
I could see an "extermination" of one of their coasters. Someone needs to "stand up" to the problem for the guys' sake. Stop sitting and use your knees. By the way, Mantis became a lot more enjoyable after I started running medium-to-long distances.
Ride On_17
I've overcome the "guy" problem on Mantis, but I just hate it since it really gets me nauseated. Standups are the only coasters that actually come close to getting me sick. I'd ride Mean Streak any day over Mantis. It's my least favorite coaster of all time.
thedevariouseffect
Yeah corkscrew isn't going anywhere anytime soon, it's ridership is still fairly decent comparing to other rides namely one in the back that everyone wants to burn. Also being a family ride for starters and still pretty thrilling and can stay up in some moderate weather, it's a great ride. No-one better touch my baby :-)

upstop
^And demolished. You think they might get rid of a coaster? Why not turn it into a pay-as-you-go Haunt Attraction.... EDIT: this is in reference to the "house" in the parking lot...
jcgoble3
namely one in the back that everyone wants to burn Out of curiosity, is Mean Streak made out of pressure-treated lumber like SOB was, or just regular wood? I know you were being figurative, but I'm curious as to whether it can be literally burned safely.
The Interpreter
Mean Streak, and any other unpainted, unstained wooden coaster, is constructed of pressure treated wood. It cannot be safely burned. Heck, in California, you can't legally burn untreated wood!
thedevariouseffect
It can burn as illustrated in the accident that happened a few years back. The ride is made out if treated southern yellow pine however

The Interpreter
Well...a coaster that is still there is also gone. Sorta. Terp, a stand up kinda guy, but likes his coasters sitting down. Usually. And a Togo elsewhere went, too....
Top Flight Back Deck
I never understood the appeal of Mantis and other stand ups. Lets stand all day, then stand on a ride, but when the brakes hit, say hello to an optional vasectomy.
