Losing Streak
Anyone hoping to see an announcement of a new ride on July 30th because of the map change is sadly mistaken. The maps for July 30- August 24 have been put out already, for whatever reason. I wouldn't get your hopes up for August 25th either, because the 24th is the last day of Fearfest auditions, and since that is advertised in the brochure, it makes sense that they would change maps after it is done. teenageninja
We speculated on that last year, doesn't mean anything, they just advertise events in that range.
italianchef
Where are these new maps?
DanielRadsgrl
Well I bet there at the front gate. When you first walk in. Like they always are. But I dont know.
Beastfreak
The park regularly changes maps a few times during the year. Hence the reason they put a date range on the bottom of the maps. They sometimes have coupons good during those ranges and other just tell about shows that will take place during those times. Then of course once it hits Fearfest time all the maps will change colors and turn into a halloween decorated map.
Dane
As stated before, the park changes maps frequently during the season. The reason is to change advertisements. Nobody wants to see an ad for Nights of Fire in October. I have made an effort to collect every map this season.
Losing Streak
I know why it changed, and how frequently it changes, I was just pointing out that the next change had exactly nothing to do with a ride announcement, which is something that had been speculated in another topic. WildCat
I have not saw a park ride announcement on a map frist. The only time that I saw a Kings Island map that was different than the others is when I got one on media day for Tomb Raider The Ride. It looked the same just had more art work and a spot for King Cobra saying coming 2003.
Losing Streak
What I was trying to say was that people were hoping for an announcement on the 30th because that was when the new maps came out, and so the announcement would happen and the new maps would be out, not that a new ride would be revealed by a new map. But maybe if you fold it a certain way, it'll be secretly coded to tell you about the new ride.
Scooby_Doo
i remember last years Fall map for the park it was Decked out with bats and Pumpkins,Ghosts and it had a those big letters say COMING IN 2003 SCOOBY DOO AND THE HAUNTED CASTLE,NEW IS 2003 Delirium awww how i miss that map...i was so pumped to ride Delirium and scooby...good times! andyatuc
New maps came out today and there's nothing new on them. The side with the park map is EXACTLY the same as it has been all season. We only change the other side to reflect the change in showtimes, upcoming concerts and advertisements. These end on Sept 28, we could have something new announced by then... mars1825
If everything goes right and the artist gets the job finished then expect to see a rendering of what the waterpark will look like on the maps that come out on September 28th. Of coarse, PKI will show the rendering everywhere else too. Edited January 1, 1970 by mars1825
Mr. Fusion
Some renderings are better than others. The ones for TR:TR's outside Facade were off. I hope this one to be one of the better. Give them a break, an Artists interpretation of what something will look like is usually very far off from the finished product. I am sure however, that since the improvements are for the waterpark, the renderings will be pretty close to the actual product.

Do they usually show renderings when they present the plans?
fyrfyter
Not usually at first. Renderings are not done until final plans are decided, since it is quite expensive to have them done by a good artist. They artisit has to understand what he is looking at in 2D and then interpret it into 3D as well as add people, action, sky, surroundings, etc. I would say though the final plans I would expect to be quite impressive, and probably have some really neat touches. We have a bar in Western hills that has fiber optic palm trees in front of it that light up. Since plams won't grow in Cincy, I would expect to see things like that, which are realistic, but not the original.
Losing Streak
PKI Landscaping can pull anything off. If they really wanted to, they could put palm trees there for the summer and bring them in to a controlled growing environment for the winter. I'm sure it could be done. Not a very cost effective solution. Palm trees are weird as far as how they work and where they grow. Predominantly, they like to grown in sand, and have very shallow root strucutres, going only 1-2 feet or so into the ground. If you transplant them, they have to be braced for almost 3 months, before they can usually stand on their own. With that said, they are impressive in their own right. They are very strong, and I have seen auto accidents where people have hit them with a car, and the tree destroyed the car, but it didn't do much more than slice the bark on the tree up a bit. Pretty neat, huh?
