Ride On_17
Following the recent announcement of the world's tallest roller coaster going to Florida (Poler Coaster), there are now plans for another world record breaking ride in the state. SkyRise Drop, though not yet a reality but could soon be if approved by the city of Miami, where it would be located, would quickly knock SFGA's upcoming Zumanjaro off of the tallest drop ride pedestal. The towering structure would be the 2nd tallest tower in the country next to the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas. It would also be home to a Soarin'-like flight simulator, a 600 foot bungee drop, a large ballroom, and several clubs and bars. It will be interesting to see if this gets approved, because it sounds really cool. I can't even imagine a Drop Tower ride that will be twice the height as Zumanjaro, and that seems plenty high enough already. http://www.themeparktourist.com/news/20131125/15132/skyrise-drop-800-feet-tall-drop-tower-could-be-its-way-miami-florida

IndyGuy4KI
Just when I thought the war was over... But the wars are over Drop Towers now, not coasters.
BeastForever
^Was there not a roller coaster just announced to be 525 ft tall and over 8,000 ft long? (But yes, I do see what you mean otherwise...)
DJSkyFoxx
Just when I thought the war was over... The war will never truly be over until mankind has found the ultimate limit on the body! MWAHAHAHA! lol had to do that
Ride On_17
I doubt it will ever be over. I'm sure somehow rides will be always designed to be the ___est in some way.
ethancoaster
Will this tower be connected to the PolerCoaster? It would be a great combo. EDIT: I am an idiot for not reading the article first. Of course the rides are seperated.
LordSkippy
What's with the obsession with being the tallest? Is an 800 foot Drop Tower really going to provide an experience any more thrilling than a 400 foot Drop Tower?
ethancoaster
^That depends. The thrill factor would probably be higher if the seats were unique (for example, Falcon's Fury concept). I don't think height matters, just the experience. TTD is taller and faster than Millenium Force. But which one would many people consider to be better? Terp, who just had to (and who, in fairness, just lost his two favorite coasters at New Jersey's Finest Theme Park. For real.)
Merthecat
That is just too tall. Mer, who is normally not scared of any type of ride, but would wet his pants and scream like a little girl if he rode any Drop Tower taller than about 200'. UnrealNightmare
I think the height would make the duration of the ride a little bit longer. I love that free falling feeling. It will probably be the closest thing to base jumping without actually having a parachute.
ethancoaster
The drop time on Lex Luthor Drop of Doom is about 5 seconds and since this tower is twice the size, that's about a ten second drop depending on the company design. I'd like to see seats like Falcon's Fury has, but I think some most people would have a heart attack at the top if the seats were tilted.
Ride On_17
Drop Towers are really the only rides now that truly get me anxious and nervous and I strangely love that feeling. I would love to ride an 800 ft one just to say I've done it. It would be an adrenaline rush like nothing else.
