The Interpreter
Acknowledges major role of Kings Island. (Yes, you read that right). Has some major errors: Racer did not open in 1971. Charlie Dinn did not design Son of Beast. It also ends before the Weber-James Reid-Anderson era. You are apt to learn a lot though: http://www.csus.edu/indiv/s/shawg/articles/facilities/six_flags_timeline.html
The Interpreter
Then there was the time, before it bought Paramount Parks, that Cedar Fair considered buying Six Flags: http://www.sixflagshouston.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=771&view=next&sid=7814862ba7c5ee9d89854dd73d5282da And before that, the time that Paramount Parks came thiiiis close to buying Cedar Fair....
Oldiesmann
I think we can all be glad that Paramount never bought Cedar Fair. I can't imagine what a mess the CF parks would be in today if that had gone through.
The Interpreter
But that was a very different Paramount Parks, back in the 2000 time frame. Now, what if Cedar Fair had bought Six Flags instead of buying Paramount Parks? That also almost happened, in 2005. Who would own Kings Island now? Who would own SeaWorld Entertainment? When would Dick Kinzel have retired? What of Blackstone? Apollo? Would Jack Falfas now run Cedar Flags or Six Fair? The mind boggles.
DBInternational
Now, what if Cedar Fair had bought Six Flags? Any chance that could still happen? I think it'd be cool but it seems like a pretty big idea. And it would basically turn Cedar Fair into a monopoly.
The Interpreter
It almost happened as SIX emerged from bankruptcy. Right now, SIX is perceived by most as the stronger of the two. Then again, it was tiny Premier Parks that gobbled up much larger Six Flags last time...which didn't end well. Monopoly? The two companies really have few locations where they compete.
