April 1, 201412 yr Get a load of this.... http://news.yahoo.com/riders-wowed-view-big-vegas-ferris-wheel-211725877.html;_ylt=A0LEV0IzzjpTy0QAT1FXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTB0NDAwYXNwBHNlYwNzYwRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkA1NNRTQwMV8x
April 1, 201412 yr Good heavens! 550ft high? The supports for that thing alone dwarf the surround buildings!
April 1, 201412 yr I dunno, some buildings in Vegas are deceptively taller than they appear. The Wynn and Encore are more than 614' tall, but look shorter because their exteriors, like those of the Bellagio, Treasure Island and others, which are designed to look "closer" than they really are, so that they don't seem as far away for people on foot on the strip (or so I've read)... See: http://www.vegastodayandtomorrow.com/windows.htm
April 1, 201412 yr ^^^ been there, done that. Set out for the "5 minute walk to Caesar's" only to find myself taking 30 minutes to get in the door, the scale of everything is so supersized that you don't realize just how big things really are.
April 1, 201412 yr And, much like the ME at NY:NY, its going to cost a pretty penny to ride--$23.95 for roughly a 30 min ride.
April 1, 201412 yr You mean the Roller Coaster at New York New York Casino. I'd gladly pay that much, and more, NOT to ride that infernal contraption.

April 2, 201412 yr I realize that Vegas isn't cheap but $95.80 for a family of 4 for 30 minutes of entertainment doesn't seem like the best value to me.
April 2, 201412 yr I realize that Vegas isn't cheap but $95.80 for a family of 4 for 30 minutes of entertainment doesn't seem like the best value to me. True, but the $100 you shell out for that 30 minutes may save you a thousand or two at the craps table
April 2, 201412 yr You mean the Roller Coaster at New York New York Casino. I'd gladly pay that much, and more, NOT to ride that infernal contraption. Not the best first ride for the year, either. I was beginning to think I was out of shape! $23.95 isn't bad considering how much a dinner will cost you at most sit-down restaurants in Vegas. It costs about $25.00 to get to Fremont St. from MGM Grand if you take a cab.
April 2, 201412 yr If its running while I'm there, I'll try the High Roller at least once....even under construction it still fascinated me each visit last year seeing the progress. I do know for sure I will NOT ride that ridiculous POS at New York New York....ugh.

I've see videos of that thing - makes SOB look good! (well, not really, but you know what I'm getting at) Having ridden it prob 10x in my various visits to Vegas, I'll chip in with Terp not to ride that awful coaster. Very uncomfortable ride experience, boring layout, short and expensive.
