JTW
This topic on Kings Island Central?
TombRaiderFTW
...Which has several members who have visited both parks. Why not? At least one member here does prefer Kings Dominion, by the by. The layout isn't perfect, but I could spend all day in the Congo/Safari Village area of that park. Not to mention the rest of it.
FoF96"
Is it because of this "Crypt" I keep hearing about in the Congo?
zombiejane
While KD has some awesome rides and is more aesthetically pleasing, I'm going to have to vote KI.
TombRaiderFTW
Is it because of this "Crypt" I keep hearing about in the Congo? That's part of it. Their Crypt is a nice throwback to Paramount-era rides, but it's no replacement for our Tomb Raider: The Ride. It's also very disorienting, so I really don't have much interest in riding it more than three times. That whole area is gorgeous, and it's the most beautifully themed area in any Cedar Fair park I've been to (KI, CP, MA, KD, and Carowinds). Avalanche is very underrated. Volcano deserves all the praise it gets, and maybe a little bit more. If you consider Flight of Fear to be part of the area, and I do, it's a smoother and more enjoyable ride that doesn't come to a full stop on the MCBR. The volcano that Volcano enters and circles will spout fire. It's just a cool area! (At least as of four years ago, it also occasionally was known to play the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider film score throughout the area... Not that that had anything to do with it! ) Aaaaaand now I want to go to KD. Y'know, on top of the strong cravings I've had to revisit that park this year. Thanks a lot, you guys.
IBEW_Sparky
Ive said it before in a topic on these Forums that is VERY similar to this..... I think KD is by far the superior park, so I may be that one Member TombRaider spoke of. Looking at the ride selection, and the FANTASTIC wooded landscape (trees instead of concrete and asphalt as far as the eye can see... imagine that), it is fundamentally a better park to me. Do I visit KI? Sure I do, to enjoy time with Friends, and Banshee is a fantastic ride. However, given the choice, Id be far happier if the two parks were transposed.

KevKenny
While having been to little brother I can't say I dislike him, but big bro is definitely better. Given that was a decade ago so I can't say how I feel about him now. He's grown up, I305 and the theft of Dominatior were big additions. AgentSoB
I visited Kings Dominion for the first time last summer. I was pretty impressed, but it doesn't outshine KI. The layout was odd but the ride selection was great. I still prefer several of KI's rides and the openness of KI areas. Everything felt closed in besides the barren area around Dominator. I would definitely go back but KI wins to me hands down!
JTW
My only point was that overall this discussion will be extremely biased considering the audience.

kingsislandfan1972
Kings Island will always be my favorite, despite how much it has changed.

APE
I've been wanting to go to Kings Dominion really bad ever since I305. We tried to work it into the plans for this season but its not going to happen.
bkroz
For a long time I was a huge supporter of Kings Dominion over Kings Island. Now that I've gone a few years without either, I would much rather return to Kings Island. Kings Dominion is absolutely gorgeous, and I'm sure the recent changes this season have had a marvelous impact. The Congo area (which I would prefer to be named Congo still) is really of impeccable quality, and the forested setting of the park is unlike anything Kings Island could provide even if it wanted to. But the people, the workers, the food, and the operations can be incredibly frustrating. As they can be anywhere, but my memories of Kings Dominion are particularly tainted. $11 cheeseburgers with that horrible "toppings bar" of shredded lettuce and tomato slices, one train operation from Intimidator to Backlot on a sunny summer afternoon, lackadaisical employees, terrible treatment of the park's wooden coasters (of which at least one has been improved this season)... Not to mention their Backlot Stunt Coaster is abysmal compared to ours, their Flight of Fear lacks the upgrades ours has; etc. etc.
