Losing Streak
I thought it would be fun to go to the park today and ride some rides. Boy was I sadly mistaken. I got there around 6:45 , due to my girlfriend's mom being stupid and not letting her leave until 6, and our stop at taco bell. It seemed that most everybody else was getting there then, too. It was no where near this crowded last year. So so ridiculous. I didn't ride anything, I didn't think it was worth the wait. Its frustrating to me, and it's gotta be worse to be a pass holder, because its supposed to be a fun night, with no lines, for the passholder, but instead they give out 4 tickets to every employee, plus give like 1000 tickets to every radio station within 500 miles... i wonder what attendance was today... probably pretty high. I hate it. What a bunch of sellouts. They even sold out pass preview night. I am severly dissapointed.
Elder Panther
I agree. A pass preview night is supposed to give SEASON PASS MEMBERS the right to check out the new rides for the year before everyone else does. That should be a right given to all passholders. I remember a few years back when it was like this. I went to season pass preview night in 2001 and the lines were bad, so I haven't gone on one since then. StXBomber
Actually, its a sneek preview night, not just pass preview night. This also includes radio and families of employees. Us employees do alot for the park and we deserve something for our friends and family!
malibu
I agree that employees should be given passes for their friends and family, but if Kings Island management advertises that a night is exclusively for season pass holders, then only season pass holders should be admitted on that night. Anything else is false advertising.
malibu
BTW, does anyone know if the Gold Pass holders night in May is usually as crowded as last night was? If it is, then I won't waste my time.
teenageninja
They never said it was entirely for Season Pass Holders. They need to give employees a feel of how it is to work on a crowded evening. The employees do get tickets after 80 hours though so I don't thinks hey should have geiven them tickets for tonight, but what are ya going to do it happened. CantStopCabron
It's not false advertising when they say pass holders get in before the public. That is still true. Employees aren't the public either. Anyways, they have been doing this for a while now. It's always the same rules. (I think)
fyrfyter
Last night should have beenr enamed inbred hillbilly who can't afford to go to the park, unless they win tickets on the radio night. There were more hillbillies in that park then you could shake a stick at. I didn't see much in the way of actual families there. I think PKI needs to re-evaluate screwing over pass holders like this. It just isn't cool. For those of you that did not go last year, it was nothing like this. Both nights last year you could walk on to almost any ride in the park, Even the new ones. I also want to know, what is up with every ride in the park breaking down? When Tomb Raider finally opened, we were the first to get on it. It got almost all the way through the cycle, and then the ride just crapped out. it like lost all power to the ride itself, and we were just swinging, then all the lights inside the ride kicked on. It took around 25-30 minutes for maintenance to come in, manually adjust the ride, and let the platforms down, and then manually hook up an air line to elt the restraints loose, so we could get out. I know I saw Vortex, Delirium, and Drop Zone also all break down at one point. What good is a night like this when nothing will run? I hope May is much better than this, and last night really sucked. Great job PKI, you screwed over the pass holders once again!
Dane
Fyrfyter, if you were running for President of anything, you have my vote. Nice observaton on everything breaking down. I didn't go last night but Ill be up there today. I'll wouldent be surprised if everything has a "Sorry this Attraction is Closed. Sorry for the Inconvenence!" in front of it. pki_guy
Fyrfyter, I agree with you completely. I saw at least 7 different people who could eat corn through a picket fence Maybe in Ketucky, the park could have gave out tickets with marrige certificates if you got married to a family member! I cant believe they would screw us over like that. Im extremely dissapointed. Many rides broke down last night(Racer, Vortex, Delirium, Drop Zone) or ran with one train(SOB, Beast) Ill never go again if they keep giving out tickets! And good luck to you Dane, I hope your night is more fun than mine was! Edited January 1, 1970 by pki_guy
malibu
I beleive that this was false advertising. Here is a direct quote from an email that I received from Kings Island: "EXCLUSIVE PASSHOLDER ONLY NIGHTS! SEASON PASS SNEAK PREVIEW NIGHT Friday, April 11, 2003 -- 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm The park will be open exclusively for ALL Paramount's Kings Island Season Passholders from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Must present valid 2003 Season Pass photo ID card for entry." I wonder what other benefits Gold passholders are being misled about. Oh well, hopefull we can go back in a few weeks and it will be less crowded. I hope that I didn't waste my money by buying a pass for my family. JLR
Here is a quote from the pki website and the link regaurding Passholder Only sneak preview night EXCLUSIVE PASSHOLDER ONLY NIGHTS! SEASON PASS SNEAK PREVIEW NIGHT Friday, April 11, 2003 -- 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm The park will be open exclusively for ALL Paramount's Kings Island Season Passholders from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Must present valid 2003 Season Pass photo ID card for entry. PKI-main website I am not really that mad about last night ,I just think the park should have let the passholders know about the free tickects being given out by the radio stations. and deem that night just sneak preview night , Not Excluisve Passholder Only night. I will be at the park today I hope its not as busy as last night
pki_rulz
The amout of complaining you people do, I hope we dont have a Preview night next year. PKI has a bad night last night, so what!!! We all have bad days and KI is not perfect. I swear it is like you people expect ERT on these Preview nights and Exclusive Pass Nights. Get a grip! Get over it!!! AND for any of you who said it has never been like this on Preview night, WRONG ANSWER. As my third year in the park, we have always been busy on Preview nights and rides DID have downtime. Sometimes I think you people expect KI to be perfect. I will apologize for KI for not being perfect! malibu
I realize that problems happen such as rides breaking down, etc. However, they should not tell season pass holders that there is an exclusive season pass night implying that the park will not be crowded when at the same time passing out free tickets to as many people as they did. fyrfyter
I swear it is like you people expect ERT on these Preview nights and Exclusive Pass Nights. Get a grip! Get over it!!! Perhaps you as well as anyone else at PKI should becomfamiliar with the definition of exlusive, as taken from dictionary.com ex·clu·sive ( P ) Pronunciation Key (k-sklsv) adj. Excluding or tending to exclude: exclusive barriers. Not allowing something else; incompatible: mutually exclusive conditions. Not divided or shared with others: exclusive publishing rights. Not accompanied by others; single or sole: your exclusive function. Complete; undivided: gained their exclusive attention. Not including the specified extremes or limits, but only the area between them: 20-25, exclusive; that is, 21, 22, 23 and 24. Excluding some or most, as from membership or participation: an exclusive club. Catering to a wealthy clientele; expensive: exclusive shops. Linguistics. Of, relating to, or being a first person plural pronoun that excludes the addressee, such as we in the sentence Chris and I will be in town tomorrow, so we can stop by your office. If something is going to be exclusive, then it should be for the particular group only. heck, I would ahve been happy with season pass holders and park employees families as well. But by the looks of things when i exited the park, it wouldn't surprise me if the park got close to capacity last night. Bottom line is this: DO NOT LEAD US SEASON PASS HOLDERS ON THAT WE ARE GOING TO BE THE EXCLUSIVE GROUP. IF YOU ARE GOING TO SCREW US OVER, DO NOT USE THE WORD EXCLUSIVE, OR IT IS IN FACT FALSE ADVERTISING AS RELATED TO THE DEFINITION LISTED ABOVE! I will hope that LaRosa's Gold VIP Night, is in fact a Gold VIP night for passholders only, so that we don't have to deal with all this crap next month, and the endless streaming of redneck hilljacks through the front gates! SML828
OK, I was there last night using a friend's employee tickets. I have worked at the park for eight seasons (not this year) and I have NEVER seen a preview night that crowded. However, EVERY year it's not just a season pass night....they always give tickets to radio stations for the Sneak Preview night. I can't remember though if employees always got tickets. I thought that was just on dry run day....was there a Dry Run Day this year? If not, maybe that's why. Either way, if you've had a pass before - they always say exclusive and it's always open to many people anyway...what were you expecting? If this is your first season pass, then maybe it was a shock. So it was crowded...I expected that being the first nice weekend we've had in a while and being the first night PKI was open and don't forget everyone got to go for free. I totally expected long lines. There's nothing you can do about closed or delayed rides. That's just part of getting out the Winter Kinks. Or the delays with Delirium, getting out the new ride kinks - anyone remember when SOB opened? Enough said... I got into the park about 7pm because of all of the traffic. I got onto Scooby, Zephyr, & Delirium...I didn't wait for more than 45 minutes to an hour for any of these rides, which actually shocked me..plus we played a few games...all of this was done before 10pm....So I got through everything I wanted (Scooby & Delirium), plus Zephyr. It was the best night I've had in a while...so I can't see what all of the complaining is about. I actually think the employees did a great job for getting hit so hard on the first night. Sorry, just had to give my two cents! Edited January 1, 1970 by SML828
Losing Streak
Last year, the radio night was thursday, and the pass night was friday. Scooby_Doo
Yeah the first thing i rode was Scooby then i rode Spongebob 3D then i left it was too crowed i wasnt bout to wait 2 hours for Delirium!!!!! pki_rulz
So.....because you had to wait a little longer and line....everyone is rednecks!!!! Haha...how dumb? You need not judge anyone b/c I am sure YOU ARE NOT PERFECT! So therefor, keep the redneck jokes to yourself. Sorry, it wasnt exclusive!!! My deepest apologies goes to you for you had to wait more than 5 minutes for something in the park. AGAIN I AM REALLY SORRY. Thanks for the definition of exclusive. Out in redneck country where I live, we dont have those things you high class civilized people call "dictionaries." I think that is what they are called, I aint sure though. Am I right Fyrfyter?????? I know you are a lot higher class than us "rednecks." AGAIN I AM SORRY FOR ANYONE WHO WAS DISAPPOINTED FRIDAY NIGHT! bingog34
Just a question...did anyone else find the long lines for everything (not just rides) odd? Such as GAMES and FOOD? I have never seen the Milk Jar game so busy. EVER.
Beastfreak
Just to let every know, there were well over 20,000 people in the park friday night. That blew away the final attendance for all of Saturday. Saturday (opening day) had a max attendance of 13,480 people total with no more thatn 7,000 in the park at one time. Losing Streak
I heard 30,000 for friday from one of my sups. I doubt there's that many passholders. Anybody driving on 71 who was thinking about buying a pass probably won't now, and anybody who heard from a friend how busy it was probably won't buy one, because they all think now that there's 30,000 people with a gold pass. teenageninja
Actually last year opening day was on Friday, pass preview was Thursday, and the radio/dry run was on the Wednesday.
CantStopCabron
You people complain way too much. Can you at least TRY to enjoy yourselves? It's not that hard. I was there from five to ten and rode two rides, Delirium and TR:TR, and both broke down either in line or in one of the chambers. Have I complained? No. I had one of the better nights on Friday. I just hung around and enjoyed watching people with friends. Seriously, you people are going to have heart attacks if you don't slow down. (also, no matter what anyone says, the wait for Delirium was never 2 hours. Even outside the entrance. That thing sits fifty a turn, so the line moves like a bullet.) Losing Streak
You're complaining about complainers, are you not? So what, we weren't happy with the way things happened, isn't that what this board is for? To state our views and opinions on situations and the like? And you take it upon yourself to tell us we're wrong? Anyway... Thanks for the correction TN, I knew it was something like that.
missdi
These so called "rednecks" and "inbred hillbillies" that were in the park on Friday night, did they have "free pass" tattooed on them somewhere? How did you know that they were not season pass holders? I am by no means a redneck or a hillbilly and am not particularly defending anyone but this is rather prejudice of those that think that way. It sounds to me that most of you either work at the park or are there alot, that is great, you will definitely have the chance to go lots more times this season and will have lots of fun I'm sure. Why base it all on one bad experience? Enjoy life a little bit. As CantStopCabron said "you people complain way too much".
Scooby_Doo
you would too if your expecting a PASSPREVIEW night and when you get there you see people that you KNOW ARENT PASSHOLERS!!! pki_rulz
I honestly think some of you peole could ruin a free meal!!! Oh by the way, it wasn't personaly Ffyrfyter, it was being honest. Sorry if you can't handle it. Also Losing Streak, I am not complaining about you complainers. I am stating a simple fact, you guys ruin everything for yourself! You want to make it a bad experience b/c you had to wait an hour for something, then dont get on here and complain about the fact the park did this, this and that and for that reason YOU had to wait an hour. Whatever, I don't care but some of you would make darn good critics. Well got to go. I am back off to where I live, REDNECK COUNTRY where we have no printed dictionaries and have to go to civilized country to use a computer. Losing Streak
I'm just saying that pass preview night is supposed to have short lines, as a rule of thumb. I don't think it's fair what they did to pass holders, in bunching them in with the radio stations, and everything else. They are supposed to have benefits, and the preview night was one of them, but they would have been better off going on saturday or sunday, when the waits were under 30 minutes for the most part. Drop Zone was a walk on all day yesterday. Pass preview night is supposed to be a fun time when you can just about walk on anything you want. I'm sure that the people on this board aren't the only ones upset with that, either.
