CharleyTheDinosaur Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 I'm gonna tell people I was the 100,000,003 rider. 10 Quote
Magenta Lizard Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 That is still totally cool, to have been there for it! Thanks for the running commentary and pic! 10 Quote
bkroz Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Can't imagine that too many coasters make it to this landmark! 1 Quote

PKIVortex Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 So my question is, how did they know she was the 100,000,000 rider? And it just happened to be on the Red Train. Quote
Magenta Lizard Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 She's going to need to take another trip to use her VIP tour tickets. Or sell them on eBay I guess. 3 Quote
malem Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 It's good that they announced in the station that the milestone was very close, for the sake of anyone not wanting publicity. I wonder if anyone exited the ride upon hearing that they could be the 100-millionth rider. 1 Quote
CharleyTheDinosaur Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 She's going to need to take another trip to use her VIP tour tickets. Or sell them on eBay I guess.Oh maybe if she can't use them and riders number 100,000,001 and 100,000,002 can't go then maybe I'll get the tickets. That's how it works right? Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 If she does accept them, the tax implications could be...surprising. 4 Quote
shark6495 Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Congrats Racer/KI/Angela. My buddy and I took our one chance on Racer today around 6ish (so probably right before you Charlie). At that time, Don and someone else were on the Red train's exit. I think they were hanging out on the Red side because they were chatting with the ride sup. 1 Quote
Tanna Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I'lll bet she was surprised. What a great souvenir! 2 Quote
IBEW_Sparky Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 We were at the gates, ready to load the next train that came in, when Don walked up to her and talked to her on the train... car 1, seat 2. Not too bad, being within 30 people of the landmark. it was cool to see . 7 Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 Don sent me this link. Coverage from her hometown: http://www.wdef.com/content/stationblogs/amy-o-meter/story/Chattanooga-Woman-is-Kings-Island-Rides-100-000/LM4yAKyCsUeF_epA8sAxbg.cspx?rss=3457 7 Quote
IBEW_Sparky Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 OK, two things related to that article. 1)On what part of the ride does Racer reach nearly 60mph? 2)Where is The Beast at, in regards to rider count? Quote
kblanken Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 2)Where is The Beast at, in regards to rider count? Based on the Ride Record Book and my calculations... The Beast will hit ride 50,000,000 soon. (Starting the season at 48,882,975. Ride needs 1,117,025 riders to hit 50 million. Last year gave 1,533,201 rides. If the exact number of rides are happening this year, that would be ~73% of the way through the season. Maybe next Sunday?) 4 Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 I think you're being optimistic. If The Beast was that close to a landmark ride you'd better believe that you'd already know and it. 2 Quote
kblanken Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Yeah...(assuming the Ride Record Book doesn't show errors) Two years ago there were about 1.13 million rides on The Beast. Going by that number, it would be around the end of the season. Did The Beast really have a ~30% increase in riders last year?? Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 Looks like they got the attention of the New York Times http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2014/08/04/us/ap-us-travel-brief-coaster-100-million-rides.html?_r=0 And in Canada! http://www.paherald.sk.ca/Canada---World/Sports/2014-08-04/article-3822870/Ohio-amusement-park-says-Tennessee-woman-100-millionth-rider-on-Racer-roller-coaster/1 4 Quote
