italianchef
I typically don't visit PKI on a Sunday because I work Mondays, but since today was bring a friend free day, I brought a former associate who worked for my company in Japan. It was a very cold day! I had to wear my winter coat the whole time. I did manage to ride FoF twice, The Beast, TR:TR with hardly any waiting. Then on to Delirium - but I had to wait over 30 minutes! Then lunch. And the wind made my food at Bubba-Gump Shrimp Shack cold because I had to eat outside. After that I did Laser Tag, AE, and then went home. Four hours was enough for me. While I was driving home, it began to rain. I figure I made a good decision to leave when I did. I hope that the next time I go to PKI, it won't be so cold. Also, I will choose an indoor eatery so my food stays warm.
BoddaH1994
I hope you had a good time, Chef! Personally, I was stuck at Best Buy doing whatever it is that I do. Weather always seems to be a factor in the experience at the park, if it's too hot, it's flat out miserable, if it's too cold, the rides are miserable... of course, there are those nice days when everything is perfect! I wish I could have said my goodbyes to the park before Fear Fest.. you know.. one last day of normal play before we kick off that celebration. Oh well, maybe next year... Anyway, Fearfest starts next week.. I'm really excited about that. I haven't been to the park since my Labor Day visit with Chef. I'm suffering from withdrawls! shadow2k3
Cripes Chef! I should of been able to see you there then! I was at the park from 1:15-6:30 and I didn't see you! Grr! Oh well, no big deal. ~S~
DragonLord
I saw him there! It's always nice to see people from the forums, especially Mr. Chef since he is great to talk with. I agree it was very cold, but it will only get colder as the time goes on. I'm going to have to invest in a good pair of gloves and find some of those hand warmers to use this year! I had a great morning, but my evening was horriable! Way too busy. I guess it's all just been building up since we have had private events all month that were very boring on my part but fun on theirs. It took me 2 hours to do paper work after my shift (a double, btw) was over. My sup forgot my second lunch as well, so I was starving by the time I got home. Thank goodness for homemade soup! DragonLord
I did last year, I didn't get of the park till Dec. 28th. I even worked on Christmas day! I'm really not sure if I will be there this winter or not. I might pick up a few shifts, but for me to switch jobs and do PKI during the winter, I would have to work midnight to 8am. I have school from 4-9pm Monday-Thursday, so that is the only shift that would work if I do work during the winter.
BoddaH1994
So what do you do when the park is closed? Just watch cameras and patrol the park? Sounds like a fun job, but it must get boring after a while.

SOB_TOM
Im so glad I switched to TRTR this year: no more cold! Employees: I think that the park should at least offer winter clothes for us at wardrobe. Its getting really dang cold, and while I am appreciative for the windbreaker and the fleece, they need winter jackets! Pre-post season is miserable, especially down at Congo Falls. Anyone else agree with me?

Brings me back to my Sams Club days. I can't remember how many times I witnessed customers try to fit a humungous treadmill into the back of a Geo Metro. italianchef
I feel sorry for the PKI employees who have to work outside in the cold weather. I remember seeing a very attractive lady dressed up in a semi-skimpy Egyptian outfit for FeaFest 3 years back and feeling sorry for her. Additionally, I tend to pity folks who have to work outdoors in the cold or rain. There was a time in my life that I was too poor to afford heat - and I froze and was miserable. That includes life in Japan (the winter) as well as the USA. I wish PKI could put a weather controlled dome over itself when the weather gets bad. Take care!
