I went to the park today just to check out the new elevators on the tower.

Got there about 1:00pm and headed right for the tower. Walked inside the elevator. VERY shiny, but the control panal looks old. Am I correct in saying that the NEW elevator has the OLD control panal in it? Or is the only thing new about it the shell?

At any rate, I get to the top and look straight over to The Racer/FoF to see if I can see any action going on. Nothing! I do however see the sad remains of one of my all time favorite rides, King Cobra, just laying out there collecting dust! Very sad. I loved that ride!

What is that white thing laying out in the field just straight of The Racer turn around? Keeps getting bigger everytime I go!

I snap a bunch of pics for about 15-20 mins and head over to The Beast. On my first ride of the day, someones hight stick fell over and into the train as it was taking off. Luckly, it bounced right back out and onto the platform floor!! If that stick had fallen the wrong way, it could have gotten wedged in the car and the gate and caused some serious trouble! I noticed the next time around, the ride op stuck her stick IN the closet until she needed it instead of OUTSIDE of it so the same thing wouldnt happen again! That just could have been really bad!!

4 rides later, there was a wait so that they could take train #1 out of commision for the time being. I think I noticed in that train earlier that there was a "Please Choose Another Seat" banner attached to the one of the seats. My guess is they pulled out that train to fix that seat restraint.

So one trip up the tower and 5 trips into the woods later, I decided to call it a day. I got my fiirst Blue Cone of the season, watched the live band play at the Gumps and went home! Short but Sweet! I really need to move CLOSER to that place!

Pics of the day can be found right here.

Sorry, but in my hurry to get the pics up, I think I uploaded some doubles. Sorry about that!

Thanks for reading!

Those are really awesome pics! I know I havn't been on the Eiffel Tower for a few years now, but as I looked at those pictures I wondered, how in the world did you get those awesome closeups? I mean, you have close ups of some rides in HB land, and I don't think you can see it too well from the tower...

Good work!

I never was very fond of the zoom on my other 3 Kodak digital camers, but since I was at the top of the tower, I thought I would give my 4th Kodaks zoom a chance and I was pretty happy with the results! Had I known the zoom would treat me this way, I would have started using it a long time ago!

Thanks for the kind words!

Hey It's Di again, one of the Eiffel Tower sups. You are correct in saying the panel is the same, they lifted it out of the old vader and put it into our new ones. Basically it was the "shell" that was replaced, the cables and counterweights are the same. That shinyness is going to drive me up the wall, needs to be cleaned like every hour...lol....at least every night. The outside doors are the same. However things that are different include: new speakers, new aircondition, new "shell", fire extonguishers, digital floor read out (wouldnt it be cool if it tracked feet instead? Boo on the new one!) and some other stuff that guests can't view in the generator room and engine room. That is all.

Well, what I am looking at (and I am SURE it is nothing) is this white square in center of this picture. A week or so ago when I rode the forward racer for the first time this season, that white square was just an outline with some pegs sticking out of the ground. Now it is a solid white square as if something has been done to it since the last time I visited.

The best place to see it is on The Racer going forward. At the turn-around, look to your right side, you cant miss it!

Now I am not trying to start any stuff here. I just happend to notice something off in the field that keeps getting bigger everytime I visit! Thats all!

Ever Onward,

Bill

Great pictures, hopefully I'll go up there sometime soon. Not to keen at being up in the air all that long.

Just like me! I went to the top of crew tower today downtown and my knees were giving out on me! I can go on the highest coaster in the world and it would not scare me a bit, but put me up on the highest building in downtown cincinnati and I just want to leave! FAST! Same way with the tower at PKI. It takes me a few mins once I am on the top to get myself adjusted, but sooner or later I am good to go!

Sad thing is, I wanna be a pilot. I'm fine on Drop Zone once I get used to it. I probably wouldn't mind being up on the Eiffel Tower or Carew Tower, because I used to live in Chicago and well, they got some big buildings that I've been up in. I'm actually hoping to get up in a plane or helicopter this year and take aerial photos of PKI. I'll just have to see about that though.
