Oldiesmann Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 No injuries as this occurred during a test run prior to the ride opening. http://wobm.com/fire-reported-at-keansburg-amusement-park/ Also see http://www.ride-extravaganza.com/intermediate/gravitron/ if you're not familiar with that type of ride. 4 Quote
Oldiesmann Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 Also just noticed this got posted in the wrong place. Mods can someone move it please? 4 Quote

WindingSon Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Indiana State Fair's model is called "Alien Abduction" I used to enjoy these rides. 3 Quote
Aaron88stang Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 I do not see me ever riding one of those again in the future. My last ride on one was not pleasant. 4 Quote

TheBEASTunchained Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 My last ride on one was not pleasant. I've never had a pleasant ride on one of these types of rides.... 3 Quote
Thrill_Biscuit Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 The last ride I've ever taken on a ride of that "type" was called the "Electric Rainbow," and it was at a place called "Americana," and one Ronald Wilson Reagan was President of the United States of America. Never have I ridden such a spin-cycle of imminent hurl again. 6 Quote
Oldiesmann Posted August 25, 2015 Author Posted August 25, 2015 I've ridden the Electric Rainbow, which now resides at Stricker's Grove. The Super Round-Up at Coney Island is more fun in my opinion. 3 Quote
Thrill_Biscuit Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 I do remember that the "Bangles" had the hit song, "Walk Like an Egyptian," based on walking in a fashion like the hieroglyphics of ancient Egypt, and riders would configure their limbs in poses reminiscent thereof as the effects of the ride took hold. That was a fun aspect of an otherwise dizzying experience. 4 Quote
KIDB Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 We used to have this ride at our county fair. I remember riding it 30+ times a day in my childhood. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3 Quote
westcoaster Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 The model at Coney and Stricker currently are just fine. 3 Quote

Thrill_Biscuit Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 All I see is an empty midway, and a sign that says, "See you next year!" But seriously, though, what rides did they have? 2 Quote
Tanna Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 From POV videos, I have noted that the ride operator is in there, WITH THEM! Spinning on the central axis. Would this not cause problems after a few cycles? Quote
Oldiesmann Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 The area where the operator sits is stationary. The rest of the ride rotates around it. Sent from my LG G3 using Tapatalk 1 Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I thought so, too. And started to post that. But I watched some POV's, to find that area empty and the ride op cutting shines (like push-ups) in the ride area. 1 Quote
McSalsa Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I rode one of these once. So far, in all my rides taken since 2009, it was the only ride to ever make me feel sick. And I rode Holiday World's Round-Up, which on paper I THOUGHT would do the same since it also spins with high G-Forces...but that didn't make me sick at all somehow (and I enjoyed that ride). So it has to be something about these UFO-type rides specifically that caused the nausea. 2 Quote
Tanna Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I thought so, too. And started to post that. But I watched some POV's, to find that area empty and the ride op cutting shines (like push-ups) in the ride area. I looked at POVS, and wondered, "So when does the ride start?" When it was already going, as I expected to see the illusion of the RO spin as the ride spun around him. Nope. He was riding right along with him. People are sliding up the walls and posing, but from inside the ride, it looked as if it were still. 2 Quote
CoasterDirected Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I rode it when I went during the second day of the Indiana State Fair. I thought it would be just pressing against you, but when I first felt the sliding boards going up, I freaked out and thought that the ride was breaking (I have a fear of carnival/portable rides). I remained calm, and quickly realized it was supposed to. I thought it was fun afterwards. 2 Quote
VortexBFForever Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I have enjoyed Gravitron rides without a problem, thanks to my stomach of steel. There used to be one at the Greene County Fair a long time ago, and I rode the one at the Ohio State Fair last year (which brought back a few memories!).
