MDMC01
Yup, another coaster being demo'd, and a Y2K coaster at that! Though I've never ridden it, I took a virtual ride via Youtube and it looked fun; layout was like a combination of Son of Beast and Mean Streak. Article here: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/travel/attractions/fl-roller-coaster-torn-down-20160219-story.html. I was going to post this in the Random Discussion Thread, but I thought that merited its own thread. Also, reality company says the demo will be "a celebration" because progress.. really? Has anyone ridden this? Any thoughts on the decision?
TheBEASTunchained
I'd never been on this coaster, but everything I've ever heard about it was negative. Honestly never heard anyone have anything good to say about it..... Whatever that tells you....
The Interpreter
I rode it when it was new. It was about the size of the Stricker's Grove Tornado. To say it was unremarkable is to be kind. It certainly had nothing comparable to Tornado's WOW moment in the back seat. In fact, the coaster's best summation is probably MEH. Not good. Not bad. Unremarkable.
Steph88
Was this just a standalone coaster or part of a park? Seems like wooden coasters don't do well in Florida.
The Interpreter
It was part of a Family Entertainment Center--Boomers. Think video games and pinball. When I rode it, there were no other amusement park type rides.
calakapepe
When it was opened it was one of those entertainment parks that are located in touristy areas.http://www.boomersparks.com/ https://www.google.com/maps/place/Boomers/@26.0545287,-80.158994,247m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m7!1m4!3m3!1s0x0:0x0!2zMjbCsDAzJzE2LjAiTiA4MMKwMDknMzQuMyJX!3b1!3m1!1s0x88d9aa43656b093b:0x117465316167003b!6m1!1e1 EDIT- Too slow!
dare-to-fly
Was this just a standalone coaster or part of a park? Seems like wooden coasters don't do well in Florida. Depends on how well they're taken care of and what park they're in. See White Lightning for evidence of a successful wooden coaster. Hoping that continues.
