italianchef Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 Now that PKI is in the middle of the winter and will be closed until next April, which ride do you miss the most and why? Quote
Scooby_Doo Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 (edited) I miss SDATHC and Delirium...Spongebob Sqaurepants 3D....The Beast....i hate the off season!!!! Edited January 1, 1970 by Scooby_Doo Quote
Beastfreak Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 Delirium... I didn't get to ride as much as I would have liked to this season. It was just a great thrill and love its placement in the corner of Action Zone. Quote
coasterrz Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 I`d have to second TheRickster, I miss everything. I actually miss Delirium a lot, but I mostly miss The Beast. Nothing beats flying through the woods at 55 mph, with 35 other people screaming like their hair is on fire. The smell of the grease as you clank up the lift hills on a warm sunny afternoon. Sorry, I started daydreaming about a ride on The Beast. Hurry up offseason, I miss my Beast rides, LOL. Quote
coasterdime Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 My ride kicks arse! I loved (in the earlier season) how the crowds would react to seeing Delirium for the first time. I remember waiting for the parking lot to open on Season Pass night in April. People were pressed against their windshields... pointing at the ride, all the while with their jaws dropped in awe. Again, reactions were quite entertaining while waiting for the 10:00 rope to drop. Hundreds of people audibly sucking in air at the same time, as if seeing a spaceship landing before them. I honestly think that ride has more curb appeal than any other ride in the park. Ride for ride, though, I really think I miss the Flying Eagles the most. This is a ride I just didn't "get" for the longest time. For me, It now possesses an addictive quality that alone makes me hate Winter. I spent so much time back there, that I actually developed friendships with the ride ops. This is a good topic, and as I type this... I'm thinking about a lot of great things I'm missing. Does anyone else miss just walking by Racer, seeing it is a walk-on; and not being able to resist catching a quick ride? How about that intense rush of wind Drop zone makes, as it pushes the sky into the queue? Maybe that wacky older man that worked the Eiffel Tower this season? (the guy from the train in 02) It seems like yesterday I was stuck inside, with cabin fever... waiting for '03 to start. Quote
StXBomber Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 (edited) Yes, we all feel sad about the park being closed. At least we have BB pics to keep us sane until 04. That and RCT2, NL, HR, and UR (All of which are really awesome games). S500 Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 I miss Drop Zone for two reasons. Number one I was on the crew for 2 great seasons and number two I like seeing the guests reaction when it comes down. Quote
fryler87 Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Delirium is my choice - I don't know of any other place where you can get onto a giant pendulum that swings AND turns at the same time with such force. You can ride it with your friends, and it's not like a coaster where if you have 6 friends, it's a little more difficult to have the same experience. I love that feeling when it's in full swing and turns JUST ENOUGH for you to go face first into the ground...those 4 Gs make you feel like your face is going to just slide right off your head. Few things beat it. My second vote (if I could have one) goes to FoF...it was the world's first LIM launched coaster, and is still one of the best launched coasters. Not quite the same as TTD, but the feeling of riding a giant knot of tightly twisted track in complete darkness will keep FoF on top in my book. Quote

coasterrz Posted January 5, 2004 Posted January 5, 2004 Ay, yes Coasterdime, George, or as you called him "that wacky old man" that worked the Eiffel Tower this season and the train the year before. It`s sad when you know some of the ride ops names and you don`t even work in the park. He really makes the rides enjoyable with his stories and bad jokes and puns, like the snail on a ship one. I hope he is back this year and on a ride like those two where he gets to talk to the guests because he really makes me, and I think others, enjoy themselves at the park. Quote

I remember the first time I got my girlfriend (no ex girlfriend to ride it). We got in line right as the park opened and were in the first queue. When the first group got to go, the frisbee started moving and her jaw dropped, she went pale, and said quietly, "Oh my God! It almost goes vertical!". Quote
