Campgrounds

Featured Replies

Has anyone heard anything more about what is happening with the campground area?

Has there been any movement on the hotel, or are they going to upgrade the campground in "06.

Good question. I know someone had asked for fly over pics of the camp ground area.

There going to turn it into THE PARKING LOT!!! This one of a kind ride will deliver various speeds of excitement and Thrills!!!! It cost 8 dallors though! sad.gif

Last I heard was that Great Wolf Lodges had delayed their meeting with Mason until January, due to some issues with PKI that still needed to be resolved. Apparantly issues like if their will still be a campground, where is will be located and who will pay for the new campground are some of the issues I have heard that still need to be resolved. Also, an issue is whether Great Wolf will buy the land from PKI or lease it from them. I do not believe we will see the finished product until 2006. I do not know if the campground will be open for the 2005 season or not.

Man I hope that the campground is open for the 2005 season or else I'm Screwed

I heard through the grapevine, that as of spring, and next year, no more campground due to Great Wolf Lodge. No current plans to have a campground next summer.

Are you serious? I'd say that maybe 1% of the people that go to PKI stay at the campground. It may be as much as 5% but I seriously doubt that.

I agree that only small percentage of the people at the park on any given day may be small. But overall the number of people that use the campgrounds over the year is higher. Especially families that have season passes and don't live in the immediate vacinity. I know my family used it quite often for weekend stays.

I was told in the summer from management at the campground that PKI won't close the campground until one at a new location is opened up. It seems unlikely that they will have a new one built for next season unless they have already started construction. The spot that was mentioned for a new location is out behind the greenhouses in a vacant area past SOB and Top Gun.

Considering I stayed for two - one week stays at the campground last summer this would effect me greatly if it closed. There is no bettter way to stay close to the park, and being able to come and go from the park via the tram is great.

Hopefully PKI looks out for their guests first and has a faciltly open before taking the money from Great Wolf Lodge.

You have to remember that most of the land behind where the camp ground currently is, is also owned by private people, or some of the playing/practice fields for Kings High School. The Kings land is/was being dug up to remove large quantities of lead deposits from skeet shooting that was done on the land many years ago. Let me tell you have safe that sounds to be sleeping on that ground.
