TQZ
After a short googling i couldnt find anything that estimates the cost of a coster. So... How much does an average coaster cost? (ie: Vortex) How much does an average flat cost? (ie: Delerium)
TheKlockster
They cost a lot! Vortex cost $4 million. I have heard several values from SOB. Some say $15 million, and others say $25 million. I know that PKI spent $40 million for the simultaneous installation of Drop Zone and Face/Off. And I would bet the biggest portion of that was for Drop Zone. PkiJake13
I remeber hearing somewhere Delirium cost around 3 million. -Jake
flightoffear1996
Drop zone was 11 million and I' m not sure about the other rides. I would say an good sized average coaster cost like 15 million and I guess a flat could range for 100 thousand to 10-12 million.
Alien Seed
Does anyone know the actual cost of TRTR? No one I've talked to really knows what it is. Their answers have ranged between 3 and 40 million dollars.
TheKlockster
It's not 3 million. There is a used portable Topspin on ITAL and I think it is like $750,000. For a giant topspin, themed like TRTR - I would say closer to 10. It can't be 40. Top Thrill Dragster was only 15.

TRTR's ride itself, the topsipin, may have been like 10, but with the themeing it could have been anything. TTD was 25 million.
harvesterofyoursorrow
The 40 mill. that Klockster said, that includes Face Off, DZ, and SOB. That was the 2 year change to AZ. This dosent include Duhlee becuase that was put in in 2003. The origonal AZ, Face Off, DZ, TG, King Cobra. Then With KC leaving, that added SS and Duhlee. CoastersRZ
I believe Delirium cost $4.5 million. Drop Zone as mentioned above cost around $10 or $11 million. I heard that Son of Beast ended up costing right around $17 million. When Adventure Express, Vortex and Beast were built they each cost $4 million. But those installations were all a long time ago and there has been considerable inflation, and higher priced rides. RCDB.com usually has the price of the coaster listed. flightoffear1996
A.E. was built only in 1990 I think so it not the old that ride is just really small. Well if you look at MF and TTD which both were around the 25 million range and are out of the ordaniary coasters and its an itmain so they are more. I would look for an average coaster today around 10-15 million.

harvesterofyoursorrow
About my above statement, "In addition, the Son of Beast represents the largest single investment in the history of Paramount's Kings Island and tops off a two-year $40 million capital expansion program at the 364-acre theme park." -From the SOB fact sheet (http://www.pki.com/corpinfo_press_son_of_beast_fact_sheet.jsp) That rounds up my statement about that the cost for DZ, F/O AND SOB equal 40 mil. This was also for the change to AZ from the other theme.
AZ Kinda Guy
The 40 million was a figure released BEFORE Son of Beast was finished. I highly doubt, after all was said and done, the final figure was anywhere near 40 mill.

I think SOB was sleighted for $15 million and the repairs and retracking have blown that budget out of the water.

fyrfyter
I know that some disney coasters have gone as high as 100-150 million, to have them installed. I think the building of Expedition Everest in Disney's animal Kingodm is listed at the 100 million mark.
