Bavarian Beetle

Featured Replies

What ever happened to the Bavarian Beetle. No one seems to know what it looked like, and I can't find any pictues. Does anyone know where I can find anything about the coaster?

So this coaster was pretty much exactly like the Galaxie that was at PKD. Here is my page for PKD's Galaxie, with one of only 2 pictures I have seen for it. Too bad old classics like these go away <_<

It was old, and it had its time. Before it came to PKI, it Operated from 1970 to 9/6/1971, as Galaxi at Coney Island, then in 1972 it came to PKI as Bavarian Beetle, then it was closed in 1979.

I also heard that it was removed because of a certain section where the train would get stuck and not clear a hill.

Good question. Well, how do they get a train back to the station if it valleys? Probably manually somehow.

That would be interesting. I'd love to see them winch a train through all of The Beast's track.

What is a winch? I never ever heard of it and what does it do. is it man powered or what? what does it look like?

It's a roll of cable that can be powered by man or hydralics, or even electricity. The motor spins the roll and the cable of course rolls around it. Next time you see a tow truck, look at the cable and what it's connected to.

You can also find them mounted on the grill of a truck.
