Silver Dollar City unveiled the ride date for the new ‘Fire in the Hole’ attraction.

The ride will open in the spring of 2024. The $30 million investment is the largest investment for any attraction in the park.

It will be the largest indoor ride in the heartland. It features 14 iconic scenes and a musical soundtrack featuring the Bluegrass group Dailey and Vincent. The track is a third of a mile long and HVAC-controlled. The ride’s storyline is similar to the original, modeled after the real-life mining town, Marmaros, located atop Marvel Cave and home to residents of long-ago Ozarks.

It will sit behind the current Fireman’s Landing attraction. The park will call the area the ‘Fire District’ once the ride opens.

This looks great! I didn't quite expect them to go the route of Monster Mansion at Six Flags Over Georgia where a classic attraction is essentially reborn with new scenery, lighting, etc.

^ this isn't a refurb like Monster Mansion. SDC has constructed a new building with a new ride in a different area of the park.

I am a huge fan of Fire in the Hole (and Blazing Fury at DW). I am a little sad to see that the original attraction is going away at SDC, but this new version has me really excited and wanting me to make the trip back there. It is very impressive the park is spending $30 million to continue the legacy of a classic attraction. There are not many parks that would even consider anywhere close to that.

Which is all the more impressive on the part of SDC. I wonder if this will be a template for an indoor coaster at Dollywood.

Could really hope. The last time I was on it, the ride itself was not great....scenes were extremely dark and then in the "tunnels" between scenes there were various holes that you could see another part of the building through. Don't get me wrong, I'll gladly ride it, but it definitely needs a complete refurb or a complete replacement.

Maybe eventually The suster park dollywood would get a new addition similar. Great news for silver dollar city.

I would rather see DW get a new version of the old Flooded Mine ride they removed in the 90s and continue to operate Blazing Fury as is with any needed refurbishments.

Blazing Fury like the original Fire in the Hole ride were built in house by the parks staff.  They did a good job, but the ride is getting old.  It opened in 1978, six years after the original.  While they learned a lot and it appears to be better built, I suspect the ride is likely also approaching the end of its life.

There were already rumors this new fire in the hole ride would be cloned to Dollywood before the ride was announced.  I expect it might be a few years, HFE likely would want to make sure it’s reliable before building a second copy.

So far the ride looks fantastic and I look forward to making my way back to SDC and riding the new version.

Didn't Blazing Fury get some significant track work recently? It rode pretty good when I was there in July.

Pretty sure RMC has already replaced most if not all the gravity sections of track on Blazing Fury. Also the water splashdown was replaced years ago with magnetic breaking. DW has done some ride surveys though with both dark rides and an indoor coaster but with Wildwood Grove style theming. Not saying they won’t eventually replace Blazing Fury but for now it seems they are invested in maintaining it. With Fire in the Hole original closing also seems they can gain a lot of parts they could refurbish to keep BF going for a long time.
