I have noticed Son of Beast isn't really awe inspiring any more. Lines are usually always short for the ride even on the weekends. I might be wrong.

Yea its never over 20 minutes even with the 2 train operation.

"If they do break the record of sob and beast then Kings Island will probabaly fight back and build a wooden coaster that cowboy.gif : crushes every wooden coaster!"

I highly doubt it. PKI is not in to breaking records any more. Also, SOB has had too many problems for them to consider building something bigger. It didn't exactly get the warmest reception either.

ALot of people came to ride it when it frist opened but after they rode it once they never came back to ride it again. laugh.gif

Geez, I wonder why.... wink.gif

Breaking records is fun to do, but not necessary. CP is known worldwide for it's coasters and the records they break (PKI was also known worldwide in the early 80's w/ the additions of: Beast, Bat then Vortex, and KK), but when CP does not add a coaster every year, it is a disappointment to the general public.

Some coasters are just made to break a record (i.e. TTD, SoB, Mean Streak) and SoB is a really BAD coaster that broke two records. MF at CP and SoB both came out in 2000; MF was $25 million- SoB was pushing $20, but MF still has a good wait on any given day, whereas SoB has a very minimal wait even on a Saturday. I would have loved to see Intamin build SoB and I just hope that SF is building a great coaster, not just another record breaker.

Does anyone think the ques are to long for SOB?all that extra walking, at least the ques on TOP GUN don't start till your down next to the ride, I mean come on look at all the ques around the TOP GUN observation area for SOB, it would be like having ques for WWC back in the Rivertown walk way

My only complaint about SOB 's queue is that there is Minimal shade and no Tv's or music (except on the ramps). All they need to do is re-track the ride and maybe get new trains. The ride could still be fixed. If u ride it in the middle seat of any of the 6 cars, the ride is smoother, due to the fact there isnt a wheel under your seat.

The ride has been retracked, but like PKIBeast stated, the cost of the cars is a large amount.

On the other hand, spending $2 million to save a ride that had a price tag of almost $20 million is not that expensive. Considering how much the origional price was and the additional money that has been spent to make SoB a more enjoyable ride and less like an S.O.B

Only time will tell.

I don`t think it costs quite $1 million per car. Remember that PKI has three trains for Son of Beast, only two are on the ride at any given time. If the cars cost $1 million a piece, then they would have cost $18 million alone. Way too high. I wouldn`t be surprised if each car cost between $10,000 and $20,000 though.

why and how they cost so much to build......whats so unique and expensive about them besides that they are the most uncomfortable train ever.?

Here is proof of what a redesigned car/ restraint would do for the ride.

Think of how popular Flight of Fear/ Outer Limits got after it got new restraints.

All SOB needs is soft padding (not that expensive), remove the grab bars that your knees bang against, and Softer headrests.

That would help things me thinks.

IDK if it was already mentioned, Voyage is claiming some Records...

...the steepest wood coaster in the Western Hemisphere!

...the most underground tunnels

...the most underground moments

...the most banking on a wood coaster

and...

...the #1 airtime machine

4th tallest wood,

3rd longest wood,

8th longest coaster,

3rd fastest wood,

IT WILL OWN IT

Actually, the pre-fab track is supposed to hold up better. Plus, it's shipped in sections, so I don't see how it would shake apart during shipping.

I agree, KI isn't in to breaking records anymore. However, if they want build a taller wood coaster they can, just because one didn't turn out well doesn't have to mean that they all will.

You never know what the park has in store for us however. I mean look at that 50 million they spent in Action Zone over a periord of 2 years. We may see that again even though I really doubt it.

Paramount has something good about PKI with all the theming and lets hope they can take it to the next level.

One thing PKI needs to focus on is the upkeep of their theming.

I hope that they continue to work on Tomb Raider, Flight of Fear, Italian Job, and even Top Gun and Adv Express could receive some Tender Loving care.

Totally agree, on the theming keep it up, and make sure it all works and looks great. Top gun looking bad Vortex looking good, need to keep up with all the rides. Also on SOB yep if someone beats us we were the first, and whoever builds the longest wooden we probably could add on to The Beast I'm sure! Only Time will tell!

IMO, speed and hight does not make a coaster great. It is the layout. A unique and thrilling layout is what counts.
