Today I decided to take a risk by making my first park visit of the year on Memorial Day weekend. We easily avoided the picture people at the gates and went straight to Son of Beast, but it was closed down, so we went to Top Gun instead. The wait on Top Gun later revealed to be the longest of the day at 25 minutes. There's not much I can say about the ride itself, it's just the same old smooth rider. The park seemed pretty crowded early on, so as we were making our way to Coney Mall, we stopped and rode Viking Fury due to it being a walk-on. Afterwards we waited about 10 minutes on RaceR. I noticed that since i'm so used to riding it backwards, I don't even really notice the roughness anymore. Adventure Express and Troika followed, again due to walk-ons. We went straight for Italian Job: Stunt Track after that, but like SOB, it was also closed down, and they were testing the trains all day. Son of Beast opened by then, and we rode it, nothing much to say except when that I think sometimes you forget how much of a headache it can give you. The School of Rock shows were showing about every hour and a half from 1 to 4:30.

We got our hands stamped and left after that, not like it mattered since we all have passes, to go the Mobile Skatepark thing at Sawyar Point, it was a lot of fun and we got a lot of free stuff including some nice T-shirts. The most exciting thing was the Pro BMX competition near the end of the event.

At around 7:00 we went back to the park and ate Skyline on the Skyline Patio after giving the new Mexican place that replaced M. Cusine some consideration. We hit Vortex next and as usual the line went extremely fast, and while waiting one of the staircases in the station we saw one of the trains get stuck on the launch hill, but it was shortley fixed. Afterwards we went twice more on Racer, one Zephyr and one more SOB. All in all it was a pretty enjoyable day, and for the holiday weekend, the lines weren't too bad at all.

I was at the park on Saturday, and IJST had some minor down time. (They were cycling the trains for a while). I got a ticket for it at 4, but we left before four.) It appears that they now in fact have all three trains on it. When we were walking by on our way to Delirium from The Beast, they were getting the trains launhed at a pretty fast rate. From the time we past the bathroom to the time we got to the floral clock, three trains were launched. (In a time period of only about three or four minutes).

I am surprised it wasnt that packed on memorial Day Weekend.

When I say it wasn't packed I mean the waits on coasters excluding FOF and Face/Off were about 10-15 minutes. In further contrast, that's a lot less of an attendance then I would have expected on the holiday weekend. However, the real "holiday" is today and a lot more people are going to be off work, so I expect horror stories of long waits and capacity today.

I was there too and the IJST was testing for a wile and than they opened the ride around 2:00 pm I was 2nd in line. they were giving out ride tickets. 15 min later Son of Beast opened up. after that it was down. and than we went to FACE/OFF. 5 min later FACE/OFF broke down. so we went to Adventure Express when we got there it was having problems. I left around 4:00 pm.

I was also there on Sunday (of course most of the time I was working)...

When I got there shortly before 1, I wanted to do something quick before hitting the School of Rock Show (which was excellent), so I decided to go to the top of Eiffel Tower, because it had been so long since I'd been up there. Great view as always.

After the School of Rock show was over, I decided to go see how many rides I could cram in to the next 2 hours (I had to be at work at 3:45). Went over to Action Zone, and was going to ride Son of Beast, but it was closed. One of the associates at the front of the line said it was bacause "maintenance is doing something with it" (obviously...), and to check back about 2:15 or 2:30 for an update. Since I was in the area, I decided to hit Top Gun instead, and waited about 15 or 20 minutes for that. When I got closer to the station, I noticed that one of my supervisors was working there. I didn't know that HB ever sent people to Action Zone, but I guess they were short on help at Top Gun. I got the back seat in Car 4, and enjoyed the ride. I still wish they would allow you to swing back and forth longer after they stop you outside the station, but I guess they have reasons for stopping you from swinging. After briefly chatting with my supervisor, I went back for an update on SOB, which was still closed. This time we were told to check back around 3:30 for an update, so I gave up. Took a brief look at the line for Delirium and decided to pass because it was almost 2:30 and I didn't want to be late for work. Headed over towards Coney Mall via the "back way" (past Bubba Gump's). Stopped at the ship because there wasn't much of a line, and got very back seat on the left side. After the associates pulled a young boy in the row in front of me off because he was too short, his mother proceeded to complain loudly about how they had paid to get him into the park and they "wouldn't let him ride any of the rides", and something about how he wouldn't ride anything in "kiddie land". They also pulled another young kid off, but his parents were more understanding it seems. The ride was quite enjoyable, as we tried to "outscream" the other side of the ship. Always a fun ride. After this, I headed over to Coney Mall, and stopped briefly to watch the folks on Slingshot there by Bubba Gump's. While I was in the area, I decided to do Adventure Express, which was a walk-on (3rd row, front car). I could have stayed on again because there was nobody waiting for my seat, but once is enough for me. Got to Coney Mall, and immediately headed to Scrambler, which is one of my favorite rides. Short line as always, and a really fun ride, with the exception of a kid in the seat behind me yelling "Oh my god" throughout the entire ride (it's not that scary!). Following that, I headed to Zephyr, and enjoyed that ride as well. Once again, they had to tell some idiot to keep his hands and feet to himself and to not twist in the swing. After getting off Zephyr, I watched some folks attempt to win a prize at Lucky Striker. This time they had to hit 150 to do so. One guy came up and hit 145 a couple times, but nobody else really came close. Then some guy came up and hit 150 twice. He chose the monkey as his prize. Always good to see people getting their money's worth off those games. By this time, it was getting close to 3, and I noticed dark clouds in the area, so I was hoping it wouldn't pour. Decided to take a spin on the bumper cars, and had a blast running into random people and purposely running into those driving the "wrong way". After this, it was almost 3 exactly, so I decided to go see what else I could squeeze in before work. The line for Vortex was really long, so I chose mindless entertainment and waited 15 to 20 minutes for Spongebob. I always enjoy this, even though it's really pretty stupid. After this, I ducked into the nearby restroom, which was the cleanest one I've seen in the park so far this season, and changed into my work uniform. By this time it was almost 3:30, and I had a little bit of a hike from there to HB. Cut back down through Rivertown since it was the fastest route, and watched some people feeding popcorn to the geese (not sure if you're supposed to do that or not). On the way I found someone who wanted to know how to get to the waterpark, and didn't want to take the train, so I just told them to follow me since I was heading that way. I had a great time and was amazed at how much I was able to cram into 3 and a half hours. Still don't know why Son of Beast was closed though.
