August 13, 200521 yr Does anyone else think they should bring back a live show in the Festhaus? If so what would you want?
August 14, 200521 yr I dont know about a live show, but the festhaus could use a pick me up, especially since octoberfest is nearly defunct.
August 14, 200521 yr A German show would be cool at Oktoberfest. You can say that today's guests aren't interested in such a show.....but if that were true, Hoffbrahaus in Newport wouldn't do so well and there wouldn't be Oktobest festivals in Covington and Cincinnati every year. That's my opinion anyway. Have a great day! Italian Chef
August 14, 200521 yr They need to get decent projectors in there, you cant see anything on the screens. Probably because its not dark enough.
August 14, 200521 yr With Adventure Express slowly being annexed by coney mall, and Viking Fury being the only ride left in oktoberfest i think that area will be re-themed very soon. The sign isnt even there anymore for oktoberfest as someone ran into it with a park vehicle.
August 14, 200521 yr I thought AE was part of oktoberfest. Anyway, I agree. And if they don't revamp the area, I wouldn't be surprised to see "eaten" by an Action Zone expansion.
August 14, 200521 yr Author They need to get decent projectors in there, you cant see anything on the screens. Probably because its not dark enough. It might be more entertaining if you could see the screens clearly, and something else then the video that plays in all the que lines
August 14, 200521 yr They should play that Beast 25 Years of Boredom video. My favorite part is the end. Why do people keep coming back for The Beast? There are as many reasons as there are hills on The Beast. Then like 10 different people all say "The Speed". So one? That is like the park admitting that its a stupid ride... No really - it is an interesting video. I found it particularly interesting how that guy lost all that weight riding The Beast. Then the commercial at the end... ITS BIG, ITS BAD, ITS FAST, ITS - Son of Beast! AHHHHHHHHHHHH
August 14, 200521 yr They need to get decent projectors in there, you cant see anything on the screens. Probably because its not dark enough. I think the projectors are fine how they are, I'm just wondering when Screen 4, after a three year absense will make its return?! I like the look and feel of the Feasthaus as is. It kind of seems like the central hub, or even broadcast studio, of QTV.
August 14, 200521 yr Festhaus is in need of a make over. Just a little clean up and some fresh paint would be nice. Watch for the Racoons to take shelter in the ceiling during FearFest. Almost any night you can see the little guys scampering around the rafters in the dark corners. Hopefully Festhaus gets a makeover along with Wings.
August 15, 200521 yr I remember a show in the Festhaus, it was on the stage near the back entrance. I think this was some time between 92-94. It had to have been in that time span because I remember that my friend and I marathoned on Top Gun, and I was still in gradeschool. lol Do any of you have any information on the ice show that was there? I don't remember it at all. How big was the rink? Was it located where the seating is now?
August 15, 200521 yr I still think that for Fearfest it should be..."Shock-toberfest" with the Circus of Horrors located in the FearFesthaus! Then just submerge the interrior with circusesque decorations! The entire area would be like a "Festival of the Dead"... that would make an awesome scare zone! Just a thought... -Hauntguy
August 15, 200521 yr The upperpart of the stage in the Festhuas remains. However they used to have a lowe portion of the stage in front, which was also used for the ice skating show. The show was moved to the Paramount Theater for a season or two, but I do not know if the stage (rink) was actually smaller than the one they used in the Festhaus.
August 17, 200521 yr OH wow. I dont remember this, but it sounds awsome. Any way you can get that video on to pkic?
September 21, 200520 yr Sorry, but the Festhaus was not built for an Ice Show. The first show to be housed in the the Festhaus was a live show. (Singing and Dancing) Kings Island used to pride itself on live shows. That is something Paramount seems to have not use for. The Festhaus was actually a take off of the ones utilized by the Bush Parks. The theory behind it was to have a central location that would provide a location for food. Then many of the park food operations could be opened and closed depending upon attendance.
September 21, 200520 yr From what I understand about Winterfest, there will once again be live enetertainment in their this November and December, although not stage shows like it used to have. In case you haven`t noticed (or heard) they removed the large QTV screens and projectors from inside the Festhaus. Which is a good move, IMO. Who wants to watch tv at an amusement park? Not to mention that QTV is now littered with almost as many commercials as regular tv. The one good thing is in years past, they used to air Bengals games in October and the World Series games in there. You could be at the park and still check up on the latest scores.
September 21, 200520 yr I remember last year when I walked in Festhaus and they had on Rugrats:In Paris the kids love it..it was packed inside.
September 22, 200520 yr Live Entertainment will be making a comeback in the Festhaus for Winterfest. The "Show" will not be like what used to be in there, but at least there will be something. Look for a new stage to be built in the building and a revival of performances. As has been stated on here already....contrary to popular belief the Festhaus was not built specifically for the ice show....in fact the ice show was added later in the history of the festhaus. The first shows in that theatre did have a german theme, and the stage was used for a large live singing and dancing show during the original years of Winterfest. Escapades.......now there is a REAL show!!! I love how live shows were done back then and I wish Paramount would shell out the money to get a show and performers of that caliber back. I remember the opening scene of the Pirate Ship battle!!! And then the Little Mermaid scene with the dancing turtles and tap dancing scuba divers....those were the days!!!
September 22, 200520 yr The Live Shows were always special at Kings Island. I remember one year managing Mushrooms and Rings as one of my karts. Everyone working the registers knew the songs to every show. It was all very cool.
September 22, 200520 yr The ice show at KI was awesome. Shame they got rid of it. That place is so boring now. Nothing more than a giant pizza parlor now. I may have video of it myself, but have loads of tapes to go through to find it.
September 23, 200520 yr I remember the ice shows -sighs and closes eyes- they would pack that place out.
September 23, 200520 yr Yeah, when there were lives shows or even the ice show they actually used to have lines to get into the Festhaus. They used to have to deal with show rushes and the place was hopping until about 8:30pm every night.
