Yeah, there wont be a major change for a while, it happens every time a park gets sold, attandence goes down the drain, and there isnt any big expansion for several years. You want bs propositions? You got em! *clears throat* In the summer of 2007, Cedar Fair's Kings Island (since they totally just bought it ) Will install a 500 foot tall rocket coaster with 5 inversions, a giant figure-8 finale, and some nice airtime hills..Named Son of Vortex, this ride will be the greatest creation ever, until CFKI finally figures out exactly how far in dept they are...which will be about 5 seconds after the ride opens.

The Interpreter Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 SFMM costs more to get in than Disneyland. Parking is also more. Why is a question that many puzzle over. So, competition alone may not cause lower prices, but lack thereof certainly does encourage higher prices and fewer investments by the park.

cewldre Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 here's the deal, yes if Cedar Fairs bought PKI they would have a monopoly in Ohio, but one must realize that there are several states with only one theme park that remain competitive. I think if Cedar Fairs buys KI they would do a different route. I think they would realize that they have the most unique oppurtunity in the world, a coaster capital. In just a week, people could visit several parks with world class coasters. Prices may go up, but I do not think it would be an outrageous amount. I think a few dollars, maybe 5 or 10. There's also several other options... They could go to SFKK which is close enough to KI that people could go there. I know, it's not a great park anymore, sadly, but it is an alternative, which means there is no monopoly, in my mind.

In fact, if Cedar Fair wanted to buy it tomorrow, I am sure Six Flags would be happy to entertain offers....then again, the Commonwealth of Kentucky would have a say in that matter, as well....It's their fairgrounds and parking lot!

ragerunner Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I would remove the Octoberfest section of the park and expanded the Action Zone into it. (from Adventure Express/Bubba Gumps). I would remove the Viking Ship and place it were Flight Commander use to be. I would then close off the entrance into Octoberfest from International street by expanding the shops on International Street. I would then change the outside of the feasthaus to look like a large sound stage on a studio backlot and expanded the current entrance in the Action Zone as the only entrance for the building. I would then remove the lake were the Viking ship is located and add a ride like the Adams Family Rollercoaster in the lake/viking area.

Re-design the front gates to resemble more of the entrance to the actual Paramount Studios, with a nice, large fountain on the circular patch of land in front of the metal detectors. Transform the old International Restaurant into a Kings Island Museum of sorts, giving a history of the park from its inception in 1972 to the present day. Have the shops/eateries on I-Street changed to look like the buildings on the real Hollywood Boulevard and Rodeo Drive. Add a bridge connecting the opposite ends of I-Street from Graeter's to the Woodworks. Move the Grand Carousel to Coney Mall (more on that later) and put in a dark flat ride similar to SDATHC w/o the light guns where Paramount Story/Oktoberfest Restrooms/It's Fried/Sports Store are, with the name "Paramount's Magic of the Movies: The Ride." Re-theme Viking Fury to the Titanic flick (sans Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet). Re-theme the Festhaus to the Back Lot Diner being put in over at PCW. Finally, add in more foliage to make up for lost scenery, and put the movie markers originally in Paramount Story along the main paths in Hollywood Plaza as a part of re-paving the paths. Umm....I'd have more, but I haven't come up with anything else yet for the other areas of the park yet.

Cincinnatians have a large amount of German Heritage.

Lots of Trees and Bushes, you'd be amazed what they could turn Action Zone to. (Maybe even an area of the park that you'd like to spend time in?)

I was thinking on the same lines for International Street. These ideas are only if the Parmount branding stays.
