Land of the Giants

Featured Replies

It looks cool but when you have all those ride that close together I think it would suck. You need like some other rides in bewteen them like some coasters or something.

It would be cool - but I don't think youll ever see that Delirium thing built.

I know Century OCT in Beijing has a Giant Frisbee - and someone said they are getting a Giant TopSpin. It is a brand new park being built from scratch.

If a gaint top spin isnt themed really good I think that they suck because they can't move as fast as the smaller top spins.

I'm pretty sure the problem with TR:TR is the fact that it has sudden stops.

Huss has had the land of Giants Concept for awhile... Surprised more parks have not added a couple of their rides, like PKI has. I personaly think Huss makes some of the greatest Flat Rides around. We could only be lucky to get another Huss Giant Ride at PKI

You are both right in a way but i cant really talk about it, sorry. Oh and its highley unlikley anbody will build another giant top spin until ours is working properly. smile.gif

You are wrong. Giant TopSpins can be run amazingly. Ours is not. That does not mean they are not capable of it.

There are a lot of people on this site that know a lot more about PKI and the rides than you do.

The klockster is right they can be run very well. its just we have some issues that need to be worked out with tomb raider. Its still a great ride though smile.gif

I think I first saw Huss's Land of the Giants at an IAAPA show about five years ago.

And, as for me, I find the smaller versions of Delirium, like the one in Iowa, quite delightful. And the Frisbees where the seats face inward can be quite fun, as well...like the Frisbee at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee (which used to run at Six Flags Great Adventure, sigh...)

How could you possibly know this if ours is the only one?

Yea which I am pretty sure there is a wieght snyc problem otherwise thier would be no reason not to load up the other side of the ride.

What is a weight sync problem? You assume because one end of the gondola is left empty that the problem is weight. Do you think the engineers at HUSS would design a ride heavier on one side? It would not be a sound design - and nobody would drop 10 million dollars for it.

Basically it is a combination of things. The first factor can be seen on the HUSS website. Check out the tech specs page for the Giant TopSpin. Look closely and you might see it. The second factor is the way that ours is run.

And HelixSprial - ours is not the only one. There is another one being built in China.

All I know is that by the latter part of last season, MaXair at CP was running far more pleasurably than Delirium (when the latter ran at all). Notchy, not as many negative g's as originally, and somewhat jerky. That was Delirium.

It used to be my favorite ride in the park. By the last of its run, I'd rather have ridden the train.

If you didn't have the special show and all that, guests were extremely efficient in loading and unloading, and you used the computer to check bars rather than physically checking each bar - then it could be possible. You could run it with just one operator!

If you didn't have the special show and all, after year one, I doubt there would be enough guests in line to have 1200 riders an hour on that Very Slow and Somewhat Painful Top Spin In A Box...

If you didn't have the show - you would have a ride program that would be more "typical" for a TopSpin. It would be faster - since the ride would build up more speed by constantly moving, rather than stopping at the bottom - going for the top - stopping at the top, dropping back to the bottom. Also it would pretty much be constant swinging with some swings resulting in flips.

As far as the painful part - yeah you got me there. laugh.gif

Yeah you could. You could never run Tomb Raider with one operator. But if I bought my own Giant Topspin - I could set it up to run with one operator. The operator would just sit in the control room, the people get on, pull down their restraints. Once all the restraints are locked and checked (by the computer) then I would push the button and the ride would start.

In reality - this would never be done - especially at a big park like PKI. I am just saying that if some Joe Schmoe bought a Giant TopSpin - they could set it up to be run with one operator. It wouldn't be very safe though...

LOL

Yeah. BEING BUILT. There aren't exactly Giant Top Spins operating all over to compare ours to.

I believe thats SLC_E_025 ArmSynch notOk Skew

Riiiight

speaking of TRTR does anybody remember when your standing in the room with the movie all the lights used to go out right before the screen raised? why did they stop doing it now only a couple lights go out, it was a lot more fun before because everyone in line would scream. biggrin.gif

My guess is it was a safety/guest comfort issue, caused by either guest complaints, guest misconduct or guest injuries...or some combination thereof.
