UncleHenry
So as many of you may know, I am currently a student at UC studying digital design. We are just starting 3d programs, and the very first thing I ever made in the program we are using was Delirium. Yeah, it's not much, but it's the very first thing I've ever made in this program, and we were only allowed to use basic shapes (cubes, cylinders, etc). So have any other people made PKI things in 3d? If so, post pics, and tell us what programyou used and other details about it. Who knows, maybe some day, I'll recreate all of the flat rides in the park (if I 1. get really good at 3D and 2. have lots of time on my hands, which I doubt being in the DAAP program). Jasper
Nice 3D drawing. Looks great!
Legend Rider
I made a scale working model of Delirium on SolidWorks I wish I could find it.
BoddaH1994
With the current program, would you be able to put the model in motion?
harvesterofyoursorrow
I did have a model of Duhlee in Anim8or. I lost the file in a crash. I had the arm all rendered and the spokes of the gondola. It swung but had a problem of the arm poking through the gondola base. I created a bone wrong or somthing... I wish I had the pics... (I talked to you yesterday about it at PKI)
UncleHenry
With the current program, would you be able to put the model in motion? Yes, but as I started working with the program last thursday, I don't know how to do that feature yet.
TheKlockster
Good job. That kind of reminds me of a project I started about this time last year. Never finished it though. I used Bryce.
Thrill_Biscuit
Nice! It must be harder to do than it looks. Good job.
UncleHenry
It is harder than it looks, especially when the program you use does things you don't tell it to do, like randomly change the plane of reference, and move supports at its own free will (Both of which happened while making my model). TheKlockster
It can get really annoying - especially trying to line things up. My Delirium is made out of all boolean objects. So as you can imagine - although it looks good - the actual object file is very complex. I tried to create meshes for the seats but it was just too hard. I know Bryce is able to animate though - and using the Advanced Motion Lab - you could make some beautiful swings... If only I could get the seats made. flightoffear1996
I like Adams better.
CoastersRZ
UncleHenry, you are using Form-Z right? There is no way to animate objects in Form-Z. You can animate the camera positions and move it for an animation, but you can`t animate objects, or not at least with my version of Form-Z. I have worked with Form-Z for rendering buildings that I have designed. (I am an Architecture major at UC in DAAP). Here is my apartment building that I designed last winter. UncleHenry
OK, I assumed you could animate with Form Z because of the animate window. I get what you're saying.
CoastersRZ
The animate window is only for controling the views and the camera movements. Form-Z was developed by architecture students, and thus the point of the softwar was to provide flythrough animations of buildings. It would be nice if you could animate it, but that is not what it was designed for.
FOF/Z 4-ever
You could do the same thing with AutoCAD, couldn't you? I know with AutoCAD 2005, you can render buildings and such. I was playing with it and creating a model of FOF's drum. I, as you CoasterRZ, am in school for achitectural. I attend the College of Applied Science. We've talked before
TheKlockster
If you want to do 3d animations of stuff like this - get Bryce. It does the same thing as 3D Studio Max - well not everything - at a fraction of the cost. I think Bryce is like 150 bucks now...
peterderkonig
you pay money for your 3d programs? I use Blender3D, a free and open-source modelling program. http://www.blender3d.org/ The interface is a little tricky to learn, but once you figure it out, you can produce models amazingly fast.
