This is for the kid who was angry at it being taken out.

Yes it does suck eggs that a good ride was taken out, but what can ya do. The Enchanted Theater has had the tradition of changing its ride every ten years. Here’s some articles for your aching heart.

Music to soothe the soul: Phantom's main theme

Contrary to popular belief this song is not played at the opening gate of the park. The song that is played is the Theme to Beatlejuice, what the Phantom Theater's theme was inspired by.

Well that should wet your appetite for awhile. E-mail me if you want some more. I got an e-mail from the guy in charge of RandR Design that came with some pretty cool concept art and ride photos, as well as his opinion of it being taken out. Well I’ve typed enough here, and I gotta start making lasagna for dinner. Enjoy

Yeah, well, contrary to popular belief the theme song is played during the hallowed event of FearFest, as the PT crew invade the Action FX Theater in October.

It was like a religion for me to ride Phantom Theater before leaving the park. The ride may have never had any long lines, but I bet it was on everyones "rides to get to" for that day.

i think i have some video footage of the smurfs enhanted voyager from back in 1988 on a "super 8" video... i don't even have a "camcorder"... but if I can find one.... and figure out how to convert the video to digital... I'll post it if anyone cares to take a gander.

The reason they are strict with filming on SDatHC as well as the former PT, is due to propriety materials. Scooby Doo is a licensed trademark, which you have to pay the licensing fees to use in film. Also, PT had similar arrangements, with the design firms. I remember back when there was a farewell tour of the PT, that the participants were shown the inner workings of the ride vehicles. But they were forbidden from taking pictures because of the propriety rights that Morgan Manufacturing has over the ride system.

they probably didn't allow filming... but then again I was in 8th grade at the time- so I didn't recall studying the copyright laws of the time. If I do have it filmed it would be the end of the ride where you entered the Smurfs winterland. I seem to recall seeing that on film. It was shot during Winterfest so I do know I have footage of the park during Christmas for that year. I said 1988... but I think it was 1987... not that it really matters.

Will check to see about getting a 8mm camcorder to play it.

WOW... this brings back several great memories! I do wish the park would bring back a truly "scary" dark ride... not this shoot-targets kid crap... I do miss PT... I am also wondering if there is an online video of the full PT ride video? That would be cool! -Hauntguy
