italianchef
None of us knows for sure what will happen to Paramount Parks. What are you hoping for? Would you like to see an investment company purchase the unit and leave things essentially the same? Would you like to see a theme park chain, like Cedar Fair, purchase and absorb the parks - eliminating all Viacom, Paramount, CBS, & Nickelodeon theming to conform with the new company? Would you like the parks be sold off to individual investors and the Paramount theming eliminated - but the Nickelodeon theming remain? What would you like to see happen??? Have a great day! The Interpreter
It should be pointed out that if different companies buy various of the parks...the days when you can use your season pass at any of the then former Paramount Parks will probably be over... CoastersRZ
I highly doubt the parks will be sold individually. It is probably an all or nothing type of sale. I would imagine that any prospective buyer would at least want to secure the rights to Nickelodeon, since they are one of the most popular children`s oriented brands around. The Interpreter
It isn't all or nothing. CBS isn't most interested in keeping the parks together. CBS (read: Sumner Redstone) is most interested in maximizing shareholder value. If that means the parks bring more when sold individually (one to Cedar Fair, one to a group in Canada, one to NBC Universal, one to a private investment group, one to the city of Santa Clara, California..for example), then that is the way they will be sold. In addition, nothing is not an acceptable outcome. CBS wants OUT of the park business. Period. At least that is what I am hearing. Think about it. If someone offered 80 percent of the entire selling price for the entire chain but for just PKI, PCWi and PKD, and someelse offered 80 percent of the entire selling price for the chain but just for PCWo and PGA...you think YOU would turn down 1.6 times what you could get if you insisted on selling the chain together? You are selling...why on earth would you care whether the entire group stayed together or not when you could get 60 percent more (in this theoretical example) by splitting it up? Me? I think if Sumner Redstone could get four dollars more by splitting the parks up, he would do so.
flightoffear1996
I picked """""" and keep NU, but elimate Paramount & other themes for the main reason that they just spent all that money making that area look nice and it would be ashame to have to tear all that down and while many of the other paramount themes are tackey. ragerunner
Who know? I sure don't, but I would say that if the parks end up going to different owners this might turn out to be the best for PKI. This is were a Universal or Busch could be involved. I don't think either one of them want all the Parmount parks but they may be interested in one or two of the biggest ones. If they all go together I say it turns out to be an investment firm. But, we shall see. Hopefully by June or July we will know.
WooferBearATL
Seriously, just think that if it's a buyer like Busch; I very much doubt that they would be interested in Kings Dominion for anything.
flightoffear1996
Yea and plus Parmaount parks are way different than the approach Bush Gardens is wanting. They got animals and no other paramount park does. I did here about the zoo going in close to paramount though.
ragerunner
I agree that in general Parmount Parks are not the type of concepts Busch has. But, Busch Gardens Europe has very few animals and Seasame Street Place in Philadelphia has no animals that I know of. So, they do have parks that are not centered on animals. Also, Busch runs their parks as seperate divisions. There is the Busch Gardens parks, then there is the Sea World Parks, and then there is Seasame Street Place, why not a Parmount division? The parks are separately branded, but all fall underneath the same company--Busch Entertainment Corporation.
cincyboy0830
All theming will be protected by paramount pictures if another Co. buys the park. I read it in newspaper but I dont feel like web surfing.
coasterking123456
But they were already bought
The Interpreter
But they were already bought a. Please look at the date of the thread before you post. b. They were NOT already bought. A deal has been announced. It is NOT done. It could still fall through. Not likely, but it could. CBS owns Kings Island at this point. It will not change hands before July at the earliest...There are even Government approvals needed for this transaction.
