shadow2k3
Good chance that she didn't, as it would be kind of strange to be Jolie's kid. Jolie-"Make me do the Lara Croft voice again, and I swear I will end you. Don't even try me." ~S~
HelixSpiral
Tomb Raider's pictures took between the ice field scene and the lava pit scene when the gondola was near the ground after dropping from the ice.
AZ Kinda Guy
Tomb Raider's pictures took between the ice field scene and the lava pit scene when the gondola was near the ground after dropping from the ice. HA! Shows how much you know.... The pictures were actually taken after everyone got off and were then ushered into another room to sit in rows and smile to make it look like they actually enjoyed the ride. Shaggy
I believe that Tomb Raider's on-ride photo was taken after the Shiva wall show, as the Top Spin rotated upward for the first inversion. The cameras were mounted on the ceiling above the Shiva wall. That way it caught the inital shocked reaction from guests not expecting to be flipped backwards. The eyes of the Shiva wall once illuminted with a light beam coming from each of them. The rotated right to left, with the beam shining across the gondola. However, within months of the attraction opening, the effect was broken and never repaired. It, IMO, was the best (and campiest) effect of the ride. Here's some fun trivia about Tomb Raider... All the ads for the ride feature "Angelina Jolie" as Laura Croft walking into the "eye" of the attraction. Her back is to the viewer. Why? Well, it's not Angelina... it's a double... Angelina would only do the ad for millions, so a model was used. However Angelina required that the park notate that it was not her. Thus there a caption below the logo for the ride saying that it is a body double. Meant to be a catch-phrase from the movie... the first time you hear Laura Croft speak in the attraction is when she says "You're making a big mistake!" And yes, it was meant to be ironic. Huss got sneaky and stuck a HUSS logo plaque on the ride unit just prior to the media event. The park wanted none of the media to reveal what the ride unit actually was... a Huss Giant Top Spin... but one reporter noticed the plaque and revealed it in her article. By the next day, the park had removed the plaque. It snowed on TR's media day. Tomb Raider is the first ride in KI's history to use pre-recorded screams. That's right... some of the screams/sqeals you hear are indeed fake. Shaggy

I don't think they removed it, because it contains the rides serial number and such which is requirered to be at the ride, BTW the plaque is still on the front entrance leg. If anything they may've covered it up temperarly, but the plaque was there early in 2002.

Shaggy
Then a compromise must have been made since... the original was a large yellow and green plaque that simply said "Huss." I rode at both the media event and saw the plaque, and I rode the day following... and indeed the plaque had been removed by then. I didn't ride TR last year, or at least I can't recall riding it... and this year I've not visited. Shaggy

SOB_TOM
Also Shaggy, the on ride pictures were taken when you were exiting the lava scene. The cameras were mounted to either side of the lave pit, and two in the middle of the lava pit. This enabled the picture people to segment the gondola so that you could actually see youself with a smaller group of people. And if you notice on the ride, when the gondola exits the lava scene and pauses in the upside down posistion, this is when the picture was taken. RingMaster
You can actually go to PKIAsylum.com and they have a massive database of songs from Kings Island, including the ride soundtrack to Tomb Raider, both with and without the voice-overs and added effects, the soundtrack to Flight of Fear and Top Gun, and last year's Nickelodeon Celebration Parade. *NOTE: The songs are for personal enjoyment only. So no making attempts to sell the songs to other peeps on the Net. And if you notice on the ride, when the gondola exits the lava scene and pauses in the upside down posistion, this is when the picture was taken. This explains the random flashes of light from where the fog's supposed to come out when you're hanging upside down. Can someone explain to me why they have yet to add the fog back into the ride? And none of that "they used it all up during FearFest" crap; the School of Rock show uses fog for their performance (too much if you ask me). But I think I saw it last time I rode but maybe I'm just crazy and dazed frm the light or something like that. But maybe I didn't see it and I'm just putting the thought in my head. Not sure, but I do know it was gone for awhile, so where was it?

I think Vortex is awesome, especially the batwing. Who cares if it is rough I think it is awesome, am i right. It's not rough-at least in warm weather. The only gripe Ihave is my short stature puts my ears right against the shoulder restraints-so I get my head banged around a lot. It's not the coasters fault-so in the off season, I think I'm going to design some sort of foam padding that will cushion my brain. I am usually horribly dizzy afterwards from it. TOPGUN1993
Vortex is not bumpy if you keep your head out and know where the turns and where the bumpy spots are you will have a great ride. 26 Vortex rides this year
PKIVortex
I think the roughness does have to do with your height, and where you sit. I'm 6'1'' so my head sticks up away from the OTSR's. I have never thought Vortex as rough. I have rode other Arrow and Vekoma looping coasters are are very rough compared to Vortex. I also got in 26 Vortex rides this year. I averaged about 2 rides+ a visit.
Jasper
Yeah i dont think that Vortex is that rough but i think that it is rougher on short people because i am about 6 foot maybe shorter but it doesnt bang me around nearly as much as it does my dad and he is 5 6'. Guest kwindshawne
Vortex is not bumpy if you keep your head out and know where the turns and where the bumpy spots are you will have a great ride. 26 Vortex rides this year Tried that too-worked one time, the second time it didn't. I'm familiar with the turns and all. I think as long as I can find a way to cushion my head, there won't even be any other problems. My height has been a disadvantage on a lot of things, but an advantage on others such as Flight of Fear-I easily fit in that type of restraint. Top gun works for me as well-don't know what the difference is between that and Vortex. Yeah i dont think that Vortex is that rough but i think that it is rougher on short people because i am about 6 foot maybe shorter but it doesnt bang me around nearly as much as it does my dad and he is 5 6'. Yes it does. That is the only complaint I have-I wish I could adjust it down so it would hit my neck-that would be easier to handle. That's what I liked about King Cobra-it was adjustable-they need to maybe look at that in future coaster designs.
PKIVortex
Trying riding in 7-1 (7th car front row) I find the ride smoother there then anywhere else.
The Interpreter
You might also want to try 5-1...the seat around which Mr. Toomer designed the ride. It is here where the least banging occurs, and where the most float during airtime moments can be found. And no, Vortex isn't even the slightest bit banging, compared to the old Shockwave at Six Flags Great America in Chicago, or even worse, the Steel Phantom at Kennywood. There are those who make similar complaints about the Great American Scream Machine in New Jersey, but I have now ridden that so many times I find less banging there than in Mason. Usually.
