RailRider Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Next year Cedar Point will unleash Maverick , which is already under construction at the park. All Im going to say about this coaster is that it will be absolutely amazing and long. "Are you ready for some serious sidewinding?" As we all know Intamin track is on site, but this new coaster will be a cross between Millie and X. Something Intamin likes to refer to as a Wing Rider type coaster. Seating will also be 4 across for this new Intamin bad boy. Get ready to make the trek to CedarPoint next year and pay homage to the newest member at Americas RollerCoast.
UncleHenry Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 OH MY GOD! THEY ARE GETTING A NEW COASTER?!?!?! I DIDN'T KNOW THAT BEFORE THIS POST!!!!!
RailRider Posted June 17, 2006 Author Posted June 17, 2006 At what point in this post did I make it seem like breaking news? I know everyone knows CedarPoint is getting a new coaster. Nice use of sarcasim, but the intention of this post is to discuss what Maverick will be, not that it is just another coaster at CP.
Jasper Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Sweet i think i might just go to Disney this year for vacation so that way i can go next year and ride The Maverick. YES!!!!
KIBeast Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Sorry, but I believe that anyone who has inside info isn't talking. As the saying goes, Those who know, don't talk. Those who talk, don't know. It has held true for a long time now. Here are some of the rumors over at pointbuzz concerning Maverick. 1)It's another launched coaster. 2)It's going to be 500ft. tall. 3)It's going to be inverted. 4)It's going to have a top hat. Or, any combination of the above.
CoastersRZ Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 With all the problems that Cedar Point has had with Top Thrill Dragster, I have to question whether or not it will break the 500 foot barrier. Seems unlikely. Also, if it is a launch, it certainly won`t be such an extreme launch as found on TTD. As for it being inverted, I think it might be a variation of an invert. Ie. no track below you or above you, but instead off to one side. Only time will tell exactly what it is. A few things are certain though. The site of the ride, and it appears that Intamin is the manufacturer.
Captain Picard Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 There is a extreme launch that works it is on Gforce at Old Town built by S&S. It just don't have the hill to go over. I would bet that S&S will be the first over 500 if it was to ever happen. I don't see a need to go to 500ft if they are all going to be like TTD. I like to see more in a coaster than a launch, hill and brake run.
CoastersRZ Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 I highly doubt that any ride will go over 500 feet for a while. Just based on all the technical issues that must be resolved. Furthermore, what is the point of building taller and taller rides? At a certain point the higher you go is trivial because it all seems very high. A difference of ten feet on a hundred foot coaster is a rather noticable difference. But 10 feet on a 300 or even 400 foot coaster is hard to distinguish the difference. Furthermore, a ride 500' would surely cost a lot of money. If the park thinks a ride that tall will bring them money, then they will build it. I have to question though whether a ride like that would bring in the necessary guests and money to justify such a large capital expenditure.
RailRider Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 Maverick will not be the tallest by no means, but if you have seen the posted teaser signs around the construction site and also the WindWalker concept at PortAdventura being built, think that with pivoting seats with a longer layout. As far as you know I have been comissioned to pour gas on the fire for CP. Can't trust anyone.

king_cobra_27 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Kings Islands next coaster is going to break the speed record ... A major roller coaster, some big flats, maybe a simulator, everything with a very "spy-tech" look and feel This is from an article I managed to get a hold of. I would print the rest, but I wanted to see if anyone had interest first.
Vortexlover2 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 it's going to be the worlds tallest, and fastest kidde coaster! look at pointxtreme.com if you don't believe me!
Vortex Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Did anyone else see the t-shirts for sale with Maverick The Top Gun Coaster in the park? Not sure if the shirt was new or Cedar Fair is already using a new name for the ride.
Jasper Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 As Rail Rider said i have been on coastergallery.com and seen the project 2007 photos and they say stuff along the lines of "Hold on to your spurs" and "Back up, Bronco this heres a construction zone." So it will most definately be a western themed coaster.
TheKlockster Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Yall up for some serious sidewindin? There was a new one last time I was up that wasnt there opening day - but I can't remember what it said.
The Interpreter Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 And this from a park that was once so proud that it was an amazement park, not a theme park. What's next? Thrills at Kings Island?
Jasper Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 What's next? Thrills at Kings Island? LMAO That will be the day when PKI or KI gets a ride that goes more than 100 ft in the air and is not the only wooden looping coaster on earth.
Gordon Bombay Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 ^Beast and Vortex both go well over 100ft son. And since you said rides, so do Delerium, Drop Zone, The Eifel Tower.
screamingnight Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 it's going to be the worlds tallest, and fastest kidde coaster! look at pointxtreme.com if you don't believe me! That was a joke, silly! Cedar Point would never ever build any little people rides. They care about us thrill seekers, unlike KI.

Cedar Point would never ever build any little people rides. They care about us thrill seekers, unlike KI. Really? Then why did they build Wicked Twister? --The Interpreter, being evil. . .
screamingnight Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Wicked Twister? Thats not a little people ride. Its a thrill ride. lmao!
The Interpreter Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 If Wicked Twister is a thrill ride, so is Reptar. Sheesh.... With thrills like that, why go anywhere else?
screamingnight Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Sure I could see some four year old, jumping into a car and launching from 0-72 mph and going up a 209 90o hill while twisting at the same time.
The Interpreter Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Four year olds can't ride Reptar either. What's the point?
TheKlockster Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I like how everyone calls Reptar Raptor. I would like to see Kings Island some day break 320 feet! Does Cedar Fair have the cajones to build a ride TALLER than the Eiffel Tower?
The Interpreter Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Sure....the better question is do they have the money to do so, especially now... And will it pay off for the park if they do?
KIBeast Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 If Wicked Twister is a thrill ride, so is Reptar. Sheesh.... With thrills like that, why go anywhere else? Wicked Twister is far better than Reptar. WT has a wicked launch and great twists up both spikes. Reptar can hardly compare. It just meanders.
