KIBeast
King Cobra was the first standup coaster to be built in the United States. Actually it was the First Stand-up Looping Coaster in North America. We don't count the Canadians.
Shman
I would almost bet that is where the campground is going. It's a very viable option Well....that all depends on which site you are talking about. The track and supports from KC are spread out over a couple of different sites. The site behind SOB up on the hill by the greenhouses would be a nice spot for a campground. However, the site behind The Racer is in the middle of the nightly fireworks launch pad and beyond that would be very difficult to get to unless they built an all new access road....I dont think that would be a very good spot for the campground. CoastersNSich
Of course, don't forget that King Cobra was the first North American coaster designed as a stand-up. In 1983, Worlds of Fun's Screamroller, an Arrow Corkscrew, was the first American coaster with stand-up trains. This concept, named EXT, or Extremeroller, lasted about a year, when the coaster returned to standard sit-down trains. Extremeroller was removed after the 1988 season for the installation of the TimberWolf wooden coaster. http://rcdb.com/qs.htm?quicksearch=extremeroller http://worldsoffun.org/history/index.htm The next year, Six Flags Over Mid-America added the same kind of stand-up train to one side of its River King Mine Train, renamed it Rail Blazer. Just like the one at Worlds of Fun, this concept only lasted for a season before going back to standard trains. Also, someone fell out of the stand-up train and was killed here, likely resulting in the end of Arrow stand-ups. In 1988, one side of River King Mine Train was removed, later to be installed at two parks, the latter now being Big Bad John at Magic Springs in Arkansas. (SFOMA is now known as Six Flags St. Louis) http://rcdb.com/id125.htm

The Interpreter
...and I hope if they kept a couple of trains, at least one is kept as a museum type piece. Twenty years from now, there will be quite a few people who would really like to see them. At one point, before the sale, there was talk that Kings Island would be the site of ACE's roller coaster museum. How, or even whether the Cedar Fair acquisition affected this remains to be seen, as far as I know. By the way, that looks like mighty close clearance from car to car in that loop. Mighty close... tubaman
By the way, that looks like mighty close clearance from car to car in that loop. Mighty close... That is exactly what I thought too. An ACE Museum would be pretty awesome. Hopefully, it could bring a lot of positive things to the park, like more business, which may lead to a new campground, and other things. I think if maybe they kept a piece of the track, set up the train on it, it would make a great Kodak Moment.
WooferBearATL
Man, the corkscrew looks like it s*cked as a stand up. How uncomfortable that ride looks!
TOPGUN1993
I thought they should have kept the loop standing just for history of the ride.
Gordon Bombay
An ACE Museum would be pretty awesome. Well that depends on what the ACE museum showcases.....rollercoaster history.....or the best buffet dishes throughout parks. They can hold award shows there and when Holiday Worls's mashed potatoes dont witn, Paul draebek can throw a fit.

Gordon Bombay
Have we confirmed that its gone yet? Not that I distrust gamesguy, I know hes honest and lives around there and wouldn't lie, but just wanted to see if anyone could confirm whats gone yet. Snake Attack!
Like I said I am not completely sure, it was kindof a quick last second glance back that I did and I saw the colors of king cobra and my mom said it was pieces of a coaster so I assume that is what it was, but your right I am not sure and no one else has confirmed. Gordon Bombay
^Yeah, this could very well be true and wouldnt be a big surprise. Thanks for reporting it gamesguy its definently interesting none the less.
Reon
I CANT BELEIVE THEY'RE KILLING MY COBRA! They should at the very least action parts off, if they aren't putting it in the ACE museum (which only makes sence to do.) I would do anything for a piece of my favorite coaster.... BTW, where is the ACE museum? I've never been there before..
The Interpreter
It isn't anywhere, yet. As pointed out earlier, before the Cedar Fair acquisition, a proposal to site it at Kings Island was well underway.
Reon
^You mean it's not leaving? I'd love nothing more than that =D Of course now I can't take sides... I haven't seen KI up close since early August.

Reon
OH! So the musuem travels then? I thought you were talking about some permanent building or something... (still wants KC to be reinstalled)
The Interpreter
No, the museum doesn't travel. This will be a permanent location, wherever it ends up....
CoastersRZ
As the Interpreter said, the ACE museum, is looking for sites for ite permanent home. Most of the stuff that is in ACE`s collection for the museum currently resides in storage in various places across the country. It will be interesting to see when they make a decision on the location of the museum, where it ends up at. I don`t know if they have a time table on a decision to select a site or not. Snake Attack!
^three more: will be X-flight JK anyway I would like to see if off park property or outside the park that way it isn't Kings Island that is running the hours and stuff like that on it but it would be ACE. Gordon Bombay
They certainly do have some interesting things in storage for their planned museum, they have one of the track pieces from the Cyclone that used to stand at SFAW.
RaptorGuy
The King Cobra was my very first stand up coaster (maybe because it WAS the very first stand up coaster) that I have ever ridden. As much as I think Cedar Point is the greatest place on earth,I have to say that King Cobra was a much better and more fun ride than Mantis! Since it has not been operational in 5 years, chances are that it will NEVER be operational again. It is sad. Look for all of its brothers at the other parks to leave in the next few years as well. I don't feel this way about King Cobra, because it was fun, but as for Skyrider and Shockwave, its time for them TOGO!
The Interpreter
Nah. Skyrider is fun! The Roller Coaster at New York New York (formerly known as Manhattan Express)...now that IS a coaster than can just go....I don't care where it goes, and if others want it they can have it, but as for me, I really don't care if it goes....or not. Last time I was in Vegas, I walked right by it numerous times. They serve really good New York style pizza in that building!

Let us not forget that the Golden Child of the CF parks is Cedar Point. Though it probably makes most sense to place the attraction at Kings Island, I can't imagine CF would allow that to happen. The Interpreter
Aha! You are apparently unfamiliar of the warm, fuzzy relationship between ACE and CP (which was a good part of why Coastermania was started...). Let's just say in the recent past it was neither warm nor fuzzy...and a convention was even cancelled at the last possible moment...
