December 17, 200619 yr http://www.irmpri.com/current.htm Note also that several of the first generation INTAMIN freefall rides have SOLD, including Stuntman's from Great Adventure....
December 17, 200619 yr Wow, if Cedar Fair can successfully sell some of the things that they have on sale, they could help lower their debt some. I mean, they have the Hollywood Stunt show for sale through ITPS, ant then the sale listing for Hypersonic, and now the Chaos rides. I personally have never ridden Hypersonic, but from what I understand, they have had some major issues with the trains on that ride. And the fact that they only hold like twelve or sixteen people means that it is a low capacity ride. So, it is really no big surprise that they have placed the ride for sale. It will be interesting to see if they don`t have a buyer for the ride by the end of March if they will open that ride this season.
December 17, 200619 yr NOOOO!!!! I LOVED the Chaos rides! The one at CP I think is a great ride. I'm gonna miss those things!
December 17, 200619 yr Ahhh good times riding the chaos ride at CP with Uncle Henry..... "who needs maXair when you got this thing?"
December 17, 200619 yr Author CoastersRZ, the trains have four cars; each car has a single row, each row holds two people = eight people per train. Although they have four trains, they seldom run more than two. The ride seems very unreliable, opening and closing, seemingly (but not really) on a whim. And then there are whole days sometimes that it doesn't even open. Add to that the very slow loading when it IS open and you have very low capacity indeed.
December 17, 200619 yr When I went back in 05 and rode hypersonic I really enjoyed it, despite it being a 30 minute wait in the morning I really liked the thrill that it provided
Of course, even if they sold everything they have for sale at the asking price, you're still only talking about proceeds of only around $1M, which is a drop in the bucket compared to the $1.75B debt. But still, an extra $1M in the bank never hurt anyone They have been able to reduce the debt by $250M through a new public offering. However, you can only do that so so many times before you end up with a unit holder revolt...
December 17, 200619 yr I'd like to have one of those. I've ridden the Chaos at Cedar Point, and the one at Hershey Park. Very fun rides. Anyone wanna loan me $150,000.00?
December 17, 200619 yr Yea I think the Chaos rides are really fun but I am sure they don't bring anyone to the park.
December 17, 200619 yr Interpreter, I knew the trains didn`t hold a lot, but since I`ve never ridden it, I didn`t know exactly how many they held. (I visited Kings Dominion in 2000, the year before they installed Hypersonic). Regardless, the capacity on the ride when it is operating normally is minimal. Yes, the money raised from selling those rides will not be great in comparison to their overall debt, but a penny saved is a penny earned. Have they made the public offering of $250 million more of units yet? I know they were planning on doing it towards the end of the year, but had`t heard when exactly they were going to be doig this.
December 17, 200619 yr I agree a penny saved is a penny earned and I think we will see more of this in the future, CF is in a big hole and the only way out is to minimize debts. Some of those debts being less popular rides that dont bring people in or rides that are not reliable.
December 19, 200619 yr speaking of rides for sale...is this a ride at a paramount park? http://www.italintl.com/detail_page.php?record_id=937
December 19, 200619 yr Author Uh, yeah...That's HypersonicXLC, at Kings Dominion. Its sale is the subject of another thread here.... http://www.pkicentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8705
December 19, 200619 yr No problem. Just try and keep discussions about that subject in that thread, and subjects about the Chaos rides in this thread. Bad pun warning. But with so many rides up for sale, it can be a little chaotic.
December 29, 200619 yr I guess Chaos at CP isn't for sale after all... http://www.coasterbuzz.com/forum.aspx?mode...6263&page=2
December 29, 200619 yr Author I think the reference you were trying to make was to this? http://www.pointbuzz.com/news.htm?id=1059
December 29, 200619 yr I was really happy to read that about Cedar Points Chaos, because I love that ride. Knowing that it could possibly malfunction while ridding makes it even more thrilling.
December 29, 200619 yr yeah I knew it was SOMEWHERE in the Buzz family... My buddy was the TL of Chaos in 05.
