KIfan73
It is the holidays and I have WAY too much free time. PKI's 2002 website

KIfan73
What do y'all think's gonna go into that there 'storage field'? Like they could top the Bavarian Beatle, anyway!!! This thing has floated around on the web for awhile. For some odd (and sometimes scary, to me) reason, I can look at it all day long. Imagine someone hacking into pki.com and having this come up when you click on "park map"...LOL
harvesterofyoursorrow
I like the "unfinished restroom" by tiques.

PKIVortex
That's actually the 2001 park website and not the 2002 website.
KIfan73
Yep, my bad. I read it too quick, when it read "new for 2002". Didn't think that they were talking about the next year.

tubaman
I remember waiting 2 hours when they were building SoB to download a computer animated POV. And, for the King Cobra POV, that was the first time I've ever ridden it. My life is now complete.

PKIVortex
That's kinda cool. The other train is in the storage track on King Cobra.
KI-ORIG-EMP
Those are really great pictures and brings back memories of my youth. Does anyone remembers the juke box that used to be in the Swiss House on IS? Or the Kahns location where the Sky Line Chili is now? The used to make the sausages there for everyone to see. I would like to see more pictures of the park when it was first being constructed and compare it to how it looks today. There are some really great pictuers hanging in the Operations Building and in the Admin Building. Maybe CF could have a display showing the history of the park to celebrate the 35th year of the park. Mike
Thrill_Biscuit
Do they have pictures of the Eiffel Tower under construction? (My dad says that they used helicopters. That'd be cool to see!) Anyway, that's a great aerial shot of the old park!
Gordon Bombay
Quote Do they have pictures of the Eiffel Tower under construction? Oh, you meant KI's Eiffel Tower....there used to be some pictures on guidetotheisland.com and KI used to show a training video to new hires that featured construction video of the eifel tower but I dont remember helicopters in the video. However, the use of a helicopter would nto be unreasonable, I have a VHS video of a helicopter lowering the stop of the Star 64 tower in Cincinati into place. I'm really glad I was able to make that possible for you guys. Wow! I'm even more suprised. The drop straight into a loop while standing up was definitely a one-of-a-kind experience, was well as the stand-up air time on the last hills. The Interpreter
To this day, the ONLY stand-ups I really enjoy are the Togo's.... Needless to say, I really, really miss King Cobra. Kind of amazing, given what I think of the Roller Coaster at New York, New York Casino in Las Vegas (formerly known as Manhattan Express). Suffice it to say I prefer Ninja at Six Flags Over Georgia to THAT thing....and I use Ninja as my epitome of bad coaster!
WooferBearATL
Come on down Interp adn we'll go on Ninja and then eat at Panda Express.
The Interpreter
I was at Six Flags Over Georgia four times last year. I rode Ninja zero times. That was a great year! (The Georgia Cyclone? Probably about 80 rides or so...over 40 in one visit, of course that was an ACE regional event when others were busy riding some big new thing at the park!) I loved Ninja! The last time i was there in 2003, I rode it 6 or 7 times that day. Valleyfair's Excalibur on the other hand... Sadly, I never got to ride King Cobra. I remember being at the park in 2001, and I was begging my uncle, dad, and sister to get in line with me right before park closing, but they were all too tired, saying "we'll ride it next year when we come back." Sadly, by the time our trip in 2002 rolled around, KC was just a dirt plot.
The Interpreter
The good news is that Shockwave at Kings Dominion is very close to the ride that King Cobra was. The even better news is that SkyRider at Canada's Wonderland is almost exactly like King Cobra....and for me, the latter is reason enough to get back to that park, which I must do this coming year, if at all possible!
