Purchased slides from Wyandot Lake arrive at The Beach.

Recommended Posts

While entertaining some colleagues today at the Skyline off of the Kings Mills exit on I-71 I noticed in the field across the restauraunt there were pieces of what appeared to be a tan and a black water slide. The field was located quite some distance from the parking lot so I could'nt see too many details. I was'nt sure if there were two seperate slides in the field or if they were one, but there were two seperate colors of tubing and a truck with a crane on it. Here are some pictures I shot from the parking lot. Pardon the quality, I had to shoot through a car window...

At first I figured they may be delivering a new attraction, maybe two, but hadn't seen anything on The Beach's website. Now I haven't been to The Beach in awhile but thought maybe they might be removing I think it was called "Twighlight Zoom" when I saw the black slide. It's still on their site but who knows. Anyone know anything else?

Ah! Yes! How I forgot they purchased some slides from Wyandot. It will be interesting to see if these go in next year and where they go in, the park seems a bit land locked but I'm not sure on its dimensions and how much space it actually has. Does anyone know what the slides they use for the Toboganing at Holiday Fest are reguarly used for or where they came from? I dont remember if The Beach purchased any slides from Surf Cincinnati or not.

Tom, are you sure those were the ones that came from Surf Cincy? I thought the dual speed slides that you could see from I-275 were identical, or atleast similar to the Beach's speed slides with the hump in the middle, however I could be very wrong. Does the Beach only use the Toboganing slides during holiday fest or do they become regular water slides during the summer season?

Those slides, to my best knowledge, came from Surf Cincinnati and are not used during the summer season. The last time I visited The Beach during summer was in 2005 and they were not used. Never saw any type of drainage system for these two slides.

Also, in my sole visit to Surf Cin in 1994 or 05 I remember that speed slide having a hump in the middle, which was obviously removed when relocated to The Beach.

Those two slides are a good addition for the Beach, in my opinion. Neither of them will leave guests in awe or anything, but they were by far the two best slides at Wyndot and for less than a thousand will certaintly improve the Beach's overall lineup.

If I remember correctly, the black slide is actually two slides that stand next to each other and have nearly identical layouts. The tan slide was a deck lower on the same tower and only had one slide. When I was younger the black slides or "Jet Stream" used to always scare me because they have a gap at the top by a drop and I always thought i was going to fly out of the gap.

Just Wondering, Why did it close?

Man I would like to get up there just one more time... ahhhh the memories!

Attendance was plummeting, the are was quickly going to hell, and the park was sandwhiched inbetween an ugly industrial park and Interstate 275. The park itself was ok. It changed hands from its original owners when the Caddies guy bought it, it was run horribly then and he didnt last long. Now caddies the adjoining banquet centers have been renovated for use by a neighboring church. The park land is still for sale, it obviously, wont re-open as an amusement park though. I know what you mean by the memories, I used to go there all the time.

Im excited to see the beach get some new attractions - even if they are gently used. The beach offers a great day away from the island at a great price. Sometimes I feel like the beach gets looked over a little too often, when it really does have a great variety of rides.

Oh - and my source for that information is me - February 23, 2007

We have visited The Beach Water Park a few times last year and could not resist the BOGO season passesfor next year. They offer some real fun family entertainment as in live bands, adult only late nights ,movie nights, dog days and many more. We will of course be going back to enjoy the low food prices and real tree shading for a relaxing day around the pools. Now a couple things The Beach needs to work on is their bathrooms/changing rooms. The next negative item pertains to their purchase of some used water slides. Last summer many of their attractions had horrible water pressure and a couple slides I wanted to get up and walk down, so IMHO I don’t think it maters how many water slides they offer if they are going to continue to operate with low water pressure. Because instead of reporting having problems going down a few slides I will be reporting that I was having trouble going down 6+ slides. While they are taking the time to install the new slides, hopefully they will get the Wave pool back to optimal running condition.
