Knott's Great America?

The Knotts name does have major recognition in the California area.

And this is the reason that the Knotts name is going to be attached to it. The 2 parks were built very similar together. The Cali. park carried a trademark on the name Great America from when it was Mariott's Great America. Until Paramount let the trademark run out, now Six Flags owns the trademark for thier park and Cedar Fair has to do something to get away from an infringement.......adding "Knott's" to the name is logical due to the reputation they already have in California.

From a quick search of trademarks it doesn’t appear that Paramount made any effort to keep the trademark use of “Great America” and actually let Marriott’s trademark die.

[When I heard about this yesterday, I thought it would boost Recognition for Cedar Fair for Great America. And Just going to Knotts a few weekends ago, I liked Knotts.

But what I thought was even more interesting before Knotts was bought by Cedar Fair they were planning a second park in California, Had anyone heard this before?

and Knotts has 3 water parks under the Knotts banner too.

Are they still paying the license to Marriott?

I've always been really interested in Marriott's foray into the theme park business. Working in the hotel industry, I had several colleagues who were former longtime Marriott guys, but none of them ever seemed to know too much (or, at least--wouldn't talk too much) about the theme park experiment.

Great America has posted their 2007 map and the logo is quite interesting. It doesn't contain any mention of the Knotts brand, and is also not in the Cedar Fair style, but rather the old Paramount style, sans Paramount mountain logo.

With CF taking over is there any change PGA could stay open year round like KBF does?

The weather in Northern California is substantially different than the weather in Southern California. I really doubt they stay open all year.

And I believe the sale of the parks to their respective entities by Marriott included terms to continue using the Great America name under license. If memory serves, whether or not a payment was required was not publicly disclosed.

Could the Great America map been produced before the new logos came out? I was also wonder about the Great America logo on the 2007 park map, same logo minus the Paramount.
