Amusement Park Bans Screaming On a ride called "The Screamer"

Recommended Posts

Wow. And from the way I understand it, this ride is located across the Interstate from the neighborhood in question? It seems like they would have more noise coming from the express way than from the screams of the riders. Also, the whole issue of the riders being able to see into the neighborhood`s yards seems a little iffy. I mean, its not like the ride is right next to their properties, it is a sizable distance away. Not unlike some of the homes that are visible from the top of The Beast`s lift hill (right side). Granted, those homes were likely built in the `90`s, after The Beast was already built. These people are complaining because it was a recent addition to that FEC.

I can sort of see the complaint about the ride at night, as it is brightly colored. But the whole kicking people off of the ride for even making a peep of noise, seems a little ridiculous. Especially since they named the ride "The Screamer," how ironic is that.

See that is the thing. These people are mad, because they have lived "next" to this family entertainment center for quite some time. The FEC just added this attraction recently, which is why they are upset. I question the fact that the noise has that much of an impact, as there is an interstate separating them from the FEC. Just seems a little sketchy and like they are trying to pick a battle to make a quick buck.

Are you &$^&&** kidding me? Only in california.....

I don't know if anyone has ever flown from John Wayne airport in santa ana, cali, but they have a noise ordinance there, and because of that, the plane has to shoot straight up, then very suddenly level off for a few minutes, and then straight up again. Let me tell you, it will make you barf-all unnecessary.

They have some strange rules out there.

let's see...

1. Hundreds of feet away from the attraction...check

2. Riders 168 feet in the air...check

3. Interstate between the homes and the ride...check

4. Possibility that anyone can see into a backyard or scream and be heard...NONE!

I can't even believe this, I'm fairly sure that the voice of a person could not cover the noise of automobiles, and that distance, and be more audible than a car peeling its tires in front of a home.

Simply stunning, I'm sure I would have to be there to hear the "screaming", in order to believe the home owners case.

Someone should have told these people that amusement parks...put in rides!

Here is my take on this story. When you are looking for a home to live in, it is most important to look at what is around your house!

No matter where you live there will ALWAYS be noise. Where I live, I have to put up with the Neighbors Revving of his engine because he has to ready his car for the Race the next day. My Friend who lives out in the country side outside of Cincinnati has to put up with the train passing nearby every night at 3AM and during the day. People who live near KI have to deal with the fireworks EVERY NIGHT during the summer.

I can understand the whole deal with what happened with the proposed ride that was for the stratosphere but this makes no sense.

RZ made a good point, these people are complaining about the noise from the ride... when the interstate is the same distance away.

What I find amusing, that the reporters seem to find the whole thing amusing.

That is rediculous. I hope this "class action lawsuit" turns out just like the Alton Towers thing turned out. Where the court turns down the complaints and lets the park stay as is.

The Alton Towers thing was dropped due to the guy making the lawsuit for noise was took to court for a noise thing his company was making themselfs. So he was forced to drop it cause he had his own thing going. The people who live across from the park need to think about what is between them. You got maybe a busy interstate with cars that make noise vs people who screem. They need a thing that you cant screem after a certin time. Our noise thing in Columbus, Ohio is for 12 am i think. We have houses near a race track here and they can race till 12 am when the noise thing takes over. They are normaly done at about 11:30 pm anyways. Some people are backwards yawhoos lol.

Its laws like this that remind me that I am defending people like these idiots.

Go ahead and sue. If I was the judge, I would tell them all to stuff a sock in it, the county approved the attraction after taking input from around the area, and if they didnt like it, and didnt feel that there input was taken into effect, then they should have got off of their lounge chairs, put on clothes, and gone down to the counsil meetings back then. Too late, the ride is in, this is part of the county's money makers, and its not going anywhere. Bye bye lawsuit.

I personally love the "people on the ride can see into my backyard" comment. First, what are you doing in the backyard that either you are embarressed for others to see or you are doing illegally?

And on top of that...

How much can you actually see, or identify, moving in an up/ down circular motion at 60 mph? This guy was worried about his property value. Well just say that this park goes under. What would happen to his property value being so close (in his opinion) to a rusted out haven for vermin?

Some people just have too much time on their hands.
