flightoffear1996 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 If there was a torando why in the world were the rides open? Quote
Browntggrr Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I was at Cedar Point, when that tornado was taking place. The tornado was over lake erie. It is not a tornado. It is called a water spout. It dissapates fairly quickly once it reaches land, and usually does not cause any land damage. Now for objects in the water, like boats, it could be a different story. Another water spout pic: http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=1738 The only time I can remember CP closing early is back in 2003 for the Great Eastern US blackout: http://www.globalsecurity.org/eye/blackout_2003.htm Quote
flightoffear1996 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I guess that is why it looks alot smaller than a tornado. Quote
Captain Picard Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 My understanding is that it's called a water spout because it's over water. When it gets to land it's called a tornado. I wasn't there but it looks big enough that I wouldn't want to have been in it's path. Quote
KI-ORIG-EMP Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Just remember that this is Ohio and the weather can change from hour to hour so if you do not like it, just wait and it will change. Quote
