I grew up in Columbus and we always went to Kings Island and such. The last time I was there; I got off that indoor coaster (can't think of the name) and I had severe neck pains and a headache. One lady got off and couldn't move her neck. Curious to know if they finally got rid of that ride. I wrote a complaint about it afterwards, but everyone I was with there walked off with neck pains and that lady couldn't move her's. Scared me.

Nope, not gone. It's called Flight of Fear. It was originally named The Outer LIMits: Flight of Fear when it opened in the late 90's. The ride tended to create a lot of "head banging" moments when it had the original over-the-shoulder restraints. In 2001 (or 2002, can't remember) they were replaced with a simpler lap bar which holds you in very well. This significantly improved the ride from causing neck pains.

Wow really? They told you to keep your head back, but there was no way of doing that if your head is below where the restraints fell. The lap bar keeps you in and it goes upside down? Yikes! Dunno if I will ride that again still.

Thanks for the update.

It is a wonderful ride now with just the lap bars. Even with just the lap bars you are pretty well secured in the trains. There is also an ankle bar that keep your legs in the right spot to help maintain the proper riding position. FoF typically has some of the longest lines in the park now.

The lap bars are perfectly safe. You are in the train very well, the lap bars differ from what you see on Racer or The Beast. It's a U shaped bar, meaning they are a bar on each side of you, and a seat belt that buckles into the bar, and also an ankle bar. Your in the train tightly but comfortable.

The lap bar does a very good job and its one of those things that you feel a lot safer once you see it in person. I went on RCDB and was able to find this picture. It really is a huge upgrade and I would recommend trying the ride out again its worth it.

Thanks for all the replies! I will report back how my trip went when I go in a couple of weeks! I will give it a try if my friend will ride it. She was there with me when the last incident happened and she had a hard time with her neck too.
