Skywriter
I'm thinking about a trip up to Cedar Point with my family. Does anyone know of any good hotels near the park and any other suggestions. Thanks for any suggestions.
teenageninja
Cedar Points hotels (Breakers Express, Breakers, Castaway Bay, Sandcastle Suites, etc.) all allow you to get into the park 30 minutes early, this gives you time to get a couple rides on Millennium Force and Maverick before other guests get into the park. However, I usually stay at the Travelodge, it's cheap and it's not too bad for the price (about 45 a night is what I usually get.) Check Hotels.com, Hotwire, etc. for good prices. If you have any other questions send me a PM and I can answer.
TOPGUN1993
Don't Maxx Pass's get you in 1 hour early like Hotel guest do?
PKIVortex
Only if you bought it at CP and have Joe Cool on your maxx pass.
CrazyKay07
I think CP is surrounded by many hotels, all in different price ranges. Most have the free shuttle too. But the one we rode from Ramada Inn was super crowded. (I think that was the hotel.)
Skywriter
Thanks for your help everyone.
KIBeast
Even though it is slightly more expensive, I'd go with the Breakers Hotel. You are a two-minute or less walk to the rear gate by Magnum XL 200, you get into the park at 9:00am, one hour before the general public, and you have the convenience of being able to walk back to your room at any time of the day to rest, get some water, or what have you. I did stay at a Travelodge that was near CP, but it was very trashy and noisy.
Kawana
Comfort Inn in Huron is a great deal. Close too.
The Interpreter
Comfort Inn in Huron is a great deal. Close too. Yep. But there is a Microtel almost within sight of that Comfort. The Comfort is great. The Microtel, which I normally like as a chain, is NOT. It has a railroad track right beside it. And a very, very busy track it is. They have a 72 HOUR cancellation policy. There were earplugs in the bowl on the desk. That should have been my first warning. At least 25 times during the night, a diesel locomotive appeared to blast its horn from under my bed! And they tried to MAKE me pay for a two night stay after the first night and pointed out they had provided ear plugs! You could even feel the bed vibrating as the trains went by. I have had many pleasant experiences at that Comfort Inn in Huron. Under NO circumstances would I EVER stay at that Microtel in Huron again. Microtel should pull the franchise on that place unless and until they soundproof it.
Skywriter
I heard there is a toll road u must travel to get into Cedar Point how much does that cost. I think I'm staying at the La Quinta in.
KIBeast
The toll was done away with. Now, you only pay parking.
JjAmSaOnN
Well there is the Ohio Turnpike - I - 80/90 that is a Toll Road. Runs E/W Toledo to Cleveland. Depending where you are coming from.
welchce
You could even feel the bed vibrating as the trains went by. Look at it this way, you usually have to pay extra for that Thanks for the heads up.
tigellinus
Btw, the KI Maxx Pass *WILL* get you in an hour early! If you have the CP Maxx Pass you must *also* have Joe Cool to get in an hour early if you're not staying at a hotel. As far as hotels...personally, I'd stay in either Toledo or west Cleveland (depending on where you're coming from) as the prices and quality will be better if you're willing to sacrifice still having to drive an hour in the morning. Otherwise, stay all the way left on the Causeway and park in the Soak City lot instead of the Funway lot, do Raptor in the evening, do NOT do Maverick 1st thing (unless you get in early/first thing) as the line gets shorter later, and do Dragster in the morning (if it's running) and while you can as once it closes for problems (and it usually does) it can often be closed for the rest of the day! Also, leave the park for at least one meal since the CP food prices are through the roof this year!! You get one free re-entry for parking, and you'll be able to park in the Soak City lot again. The Interpreter
The toll was done away with. Now, you only pay parking. Actually, the causeway toll of fifty cents is included in your parking fee, and the parking stub so indicates.
tigellinus
Actually, the causeway toll of fifty cents is included in your parking fee, and the parking stub so indicates. Not to disagree, but my parking receipt from Sunday says PK001 Fun Day Parking $10...did I get the wrong receipt??
The Interpreter
At Cedar Point? It's in fine print on the back of the receipt...or at least has been prior to your visit!
The Interpreter
See this webpage FAQ from Cedar Point as well: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/news/faq....urrent_root=236 How much is parking? Daily Parking is $10.00* per automobile and $15.00* for larger vehicles such campers and mini-buses. Full-size buses with a minimum of 15 people onboard park for free. (*Daily parking fees include a $.50 toll charge.) Cash and Beagle Bucks are accepted for parking fee. Sorry, no checks or credit cards. Canadian currency (discounted) is accepted for parking. By the way, they DO take credit cards for parking. They did opening day this year, and I am sure they still do.
RWildman424
I usually stay at Camp Sandusky in a tent. It costs less than $30 and I get to camp out. I just went this past Sunday Monday and I got free parking with my Kings Island Maxx Pass. The attendant saw it in my wallet when I got out my $10, he scanned it and said I was free to go for free. I don't have a parking pass of any sort. That was a nice way to start my day.
TransAm78
Helping a newbie out with Maxx passes, my buddy and i saw a CF Maxx pass at KD for $90 or $100 can you get it online or do u have to travel to KD to pick it up?? And how much a night is the Hotel near Magnum? JW
Dalefan
250 has hotels all along it. Kalahari if i spelled it right is to the right of 250 depending on which end of the freeway you get off on. The hotels end at the Cedar Point sign for 250 but also are to the right and left of the sign. And theres the old Green Tree Inn which changed its name. You can tell where it is cause it has a Cedar Lanes and a Thirsty Pony adjason to it.
Browntggrr
You could even feel the bed vibrating as the trains went by. Wow, the comments that could be made about that statment! Yeah, I agree. The earplugs should have been a big, pink, blinking, neon sign. Just to give everyone a good visual: http://www.microtelinn.com/mappoint/Locato...amp;country=USA I can remember staying at a campground (it's gone today), in a tent, back in the early to mid 80's on Cleveland Road. Yeah, those same tracks were near us. Now imagine it, numerous trains, sleeping in a tent, in the middle of JULY (The shores of Lake Erie can be rather humid)! It was TERRIBLE! I honestly believe that may have been the last time my family stayed in a tent for a vacation. I have stayed at a rather unattractive motel on Cleveland Road called Value Inn (yellow sign) located maybe one mile East of the main entrance. It wasn't Breakers, it didn't have a phone, or a pool. But it did have two beds, clean sheets, and towels. For $50 split 4 ways, it was the Taj Mahal for us. Ahhh, the college years.

And how much a night is the Hotel near Magnum? JW Any Cedar Fair pass is not valid until processed at the park of purchase. At least supposedly. I have heard stories about people using unprocessed vouchers to get in parks, but I wouldn't depend on that. And a Kings Dominion purchased Cedar Fair Maxx pass is 99.95, only ten more dollars than a Kings Dominion season pass (not Maxx). If purchased INside the park, you get credit for whatever you paid to get in...It can be purchased online but must be redeemed at the park. Renewals can be done by mail or online. You will NOT be able to buy Ohio parking (or even Kings Island season pass parking) with a Maxx pass from a non-Ohio park. At least not this year. Don't even think of asking me how I (or numerous other people) know this. Let's just say this is one area where Guest Relations and Admissions at Cedar Fair has shown how amazingly different they are than was Paramount Parks. And not in a good way.
