  1. I was wondering what type of coaster you think KI needs next? Really, I think KI should either get a woodie, stand-up, or a wing coaster.

  3. Thats a terrible idea on the parks part. Gold is extremely soft and very malleable. As soon as that first train hits the lift that link is going to stretch and break. Someone should probably warn them.

  4. I hope I am not frustrating anyone with my brochure topics. I have been "cataloging" my stuff lately...and after I scan something I figure why not share it. I start a new topic for 2 reasons...the first one is so I can easily search and see what I have and haven't shared...and secondly so if someone else happens to be searching for a paticular brochure this way might be easier. This isn't a particularly exciting brochure...but I like it...and I figure that there are a few others on here who will find it fun. I never stayed at the campground in it's prime...but even in it's no-frills stage it was a blast! I wish everyone dressed a little classier when they went to the park. Not that it wasn't to be expected...but prices at the store were pretty high...and back then we didn't know where all of the stores were in the area so we did pay them if we ran out of something. One of my more memorable campground memories is when I went into the bathroom and someone had smeared what appeared to be chocolate syrup all around the walls of one of the stalls...come to think of it, maybe it wasn't chocolate syrup. I like the crown logo on this page...it looks very Oktoberfest like. I wish I would have taken more photos of the campground...but I didn't have a digital camera back then. I wonder where all of the street signs that featured ride names on them ended up? I am guessing they all left the park one way or another because they never ended up in any Fearfest/Halloween Haunt displays/haunts.

  9. As much as everyone likes to talk about Son of Beast (including me) I wonder what Son of Beast thinks of this whole situation himself? He might be hibernating or maybe he's just waiting on an answer from Cedar Fair and of course he's waiting on an answer from his father whom abandoned him a couple seasons back and left him to rot.

  10. Popular KI attraction? I never see any line for it. Maybe they have to call all the attractions popular.

  11. From what I heard, Flight of Fear is also being repainted. Here's a panoramic thumbnail picture: █████ I also heard that the anniversary of Vortex will be celebrated by installing a gold link in the lift chain. Not verified.

  12. Level the box and plant some trees. Here's to a family log flume that doesn't involve an elephant! Put the River back in Rivertown.

  13. IMO, if the Koch family sees potential, it still has a chance. I don't care what they call it as long as Greezed Lightnin and Thunder Run reopen, lol. I LOVED Kentucky Kingdom. A lot of people wrote it off as a junk park (look at Indiana Beach and Stricker's Grove.. they're a dump too, but we still enjoy them as long as we are with friends, don't we?). I saw KK differently. It was a corporate-run park with a small park feeling.. never once did I ever run into a rude employee or one that wasn't willing to help. I had some people telling me not to go to KK, but I went and had a wonderful time, and went back several times with Tom.. we got zen rides on Greezed Lightnin and the second to last ride ever on Chang. He loved the park too. Now that the park is closed, I miss it terribly, but I'm so glad I was able to experience the park while it was still open. I was informed the other day that Will spoke on the phone with Dan every day until his passing. It occurred to me that perhaps this was along the lines of something Will wanted. I fear for the condition of the rides, but at the same time I have faith in the Koch family. I am glad they are branching out.. this is just a thought but there are quite a number of rides at Holiday World and maybe the family wants new territory to work with. I highly doubt that their family park atmosphere will disappear with the addition of another park. If their plans for KK/BB even remotely mirror the success that Holiday World is, then I'm excited to see what unfolds.

  14. At this point, I'm wondering how much of this still involves planning from Will. It seems like the park's become tremendously more aggressive in its expansion since mid-2011. I'm not criticizing them, as I'm not privy to any of their financial information, but I do worry, and I hope they're being careful about this. From what I read, overexpansion was the ultimate factor that did Geauga Lake in, and I'd really, really hate to see Holiday World take the same path.

  15. To me, it speaks volumes that Pat is not a part of this venture. In my book, she is the heart, soul, brains, visionary and true leader at Holiday World. I wouldn't personally want to participate in any Koch family endeavor that didn't have at least her whole-hearted endorsement. In addition, separate legal entity or not, this is a distraction from Holiday World's values, mission and focus. If this goes forward, the Santa Claus operation will suffer, perhaps irreparably so.

  16. It worked so well for Gary Story's Six Flags. Too big an example? Bev and John Roberts whose overexpansion did in Funspot in Indiana and nearly took Camden Park down with it. Kentucky Kingdom would almost certainly be a major distraction for the Kochs and endanger Holiday World. Bigger is not always better.

  17. I hope to ride it again as well. If not, I'd like to see another record breaker of some kind (and not one that gets owned by another coaster in the same year (DB vs. 305)) ... Ok. As promised. Last one, folks: (No sons of beasts were harmed in the making of any of these videos.)
