  1. ^ We get it, you don't like the current ride spieling going on. Now take it up with guest relations at the park if you want your voice to be heard. If they feel this is an item which needs attention, management and training departments can get involved. Trying to make your case in a community forum isn't really going to change things. Now...back to interesting things ride ops do...
  2. This was mentioned in the park changes awhile back... See: https://KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/32815-2017-kings-island-park-changes-upgrades/&do=findComment&comment=766039
  3. Actually...a lot easier. FOF is not that high (vertically), and the entire inside of the ride has a nice firm concrete base where you can drive various articulating boom trucks. See: http://www.genielift.com/en/products/boom-lifts/articulating-booms-electric/index.htm These things can fit in smaller areas nicely. I wouldn't be surprised if KI maintenance department didn't have various styles already in their arsenal.
  4. Well describing to the general public that their favorite ride is "technically a runaway train on a restricted path, subject to the forces of gravity and its own momentum, with only the ability to have externally applied braking forces at predefined locations in its path" probably isn't the best PR speak.
  5. Agree on the re-ridability part. This coaster can appeal to a broader base of visitors (which is a good thing!). It's fun to have everyone in the family enjoy a ride, instead of a couple of people "sitting this one out" because they can't handle it.
  6. Sorry, have to disagree on this point... (with some data): I'm with a group of guys who do an annual multi-day Cedar Point trip in the summer. Part of our plans has always been to take a pit stop at Kings Island on the way, then visit Cedar Point in the evening. We've had an ongoing dispute within our group between Banshee and the Raptor. So last summer we decided to settle it with an 'experiment'. Went to KI, rode Banshee twice (various spots), then got on the highway and headed to CP, rode Raptor twice. Afterwards everyone in the group agreed Banshee was smoother. The Raptor's restraints don't help the situation either. I'm not saying metal coasters don't maintain their smoothness, but the Raptor definitely has more of a shake than it's newer counterpart. I'm sure B&M has put some of their R&D to good use over the years with better tolerances/designs.
  7. I've always had the fire working whenever I rode...I always appreciated the warmth during haunt.
  8. ^ Agree with disco2000, regardless of your eating habits, the intend of your post was clear "we are sharing a single meal plan, here's where we can get the most food to share" which isn't really in the spirit of an 'individual meal plan', which is how KI offers it (attached to your pass). There's a reason meal plan portions are smaller this year, and bean counters have the data to prove it.
  9. @malemI've confirmed the high CPU usage occurs on any page where there is an embedded YouTube video. For example, this link does it: https://KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/26887-what-ride-are-you-craving-to-be-on-right-now/&page=39 I've also cleared my local cache and settings to see if it goes away, still an issue... So yes at least for me it occurs 100% of the time. Let me know if you need more information.
  10. I've noticed since the software upgrade that certain threads tend to generate excessively high CPU loads. For example: sitting on the Kings Island 2017 Discussion Thread on page 20, according to Chrome's task manager it is just chewing on 20-25% load. Using the latest build of Chrome: Version 57.0.2987.133 (64-bit) I'm wondering if there is some script issue with the high post count threads? Side-note: I've given up browsing on my phone for this very reason, it kills my mobile browser (and battery).
  11. Wow, what a great addition to the park! I would like to hear more about the back story of Mystic Timbers, but the audio on the TVs and speakers made it hard to pick up with the large crowds and other noises. I'll definitely be riding this many times and look forward to seeing/hearing more. This is in the list of my top coasters at the park. The ride itself is incredibly smooth, great pacing, and exciting from the top of the lift till you reach the shed. I really like how there is no "slow" feeling through a MCBR (because there isn't one). Interaction with the train and WWC is cool, and I love how they selectively cut out trees during construction and left so many remaining. It doesn't feel like a "new" coaster in a clear cut field. Thumbs up from me
  12. Great weather, busy night! Really enjoyed Mystic Timbers, a fantastic coaster. We arrived quarter till 4, went straight to MT and had a 4 hour wait!!! Met some great people in line and everyone had a good time. BTW, there were numerous attempts at line jumpers with the extended lines outside the main entrance of MT ("Oh, I thought the line started here..."). KI staff worked really hard to keep people from getting in these areas. Security was out in force. With such a large crowd, everything had some lines (food especially). But what a way to start the season, I'm sure KI is quite pleased.
  13. New rides... Always need a little time to settle in. They've been running test cars... Looks like the first car with people now going out
  14. Been in line since 4:15 pm. They just announced technical difficulties.... Everyone is sitting down.
  15. Announcement at opening today said there would be fireworks.
  16. For those who may have missed out, the Fall Season Pass sale has been extended to 11/3 Anyone have any guess as to the price increase after Thursday?
  17. Really appreciate the screenshots for those of us who can't watch the webcam during the daylight hours! Keep 'em coming
  18. I was hoping to snap some photos to share last night, but I was too late for my train ride and twilight set in... pictures were too dark. Thanks to other who are on the ball! It is great to see the layout forming up nicely at the bottom of the first hill.
  19. Friday night was great, probably my only complaint was a couple of ride issues. I was never able to get onto Outer Limits, as it was always "temporarily closed" every time I was looking to ride. Beast was down as well, but only briefly. I was able to get my late night ride and was awesome as usual
  20. I'm hoping for the lighter crowd...as I'll be there tonight. I think the startup of Friday night HS football does tame the crowds somewhat as well.
  21. ^ Count me in agreement. Rides already have a nice coating throughout the year on the restraints (see Diamondback). Get somebody with a BO issue riding before you and you'll notice (had that pleasant experience on Banshee last week) I'm not a germophobe, but I don't think I'm ready to put something shared on my head.
  22. I made this thread right after Greg said we were going to have a 2nd announcement. SO the one you linked is a re-hash Sorry...didn't notice the order of thread starting time. I was only pointing out that an existing thread which seemed more lively (at the time 10+ pages) which duplicated the rather light discussion here. And here I thought I was trying to bring people together. Nevermind.
  23. ^ Great coaster indeed, one of the few where the those riding can make/break it. Get a group who is really into the interaction and it is downright fun but have some fuddy-duddies and it can be a little meh.
  24. Isn't this just a re-hash of an existing thread? http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/32269-decoding-episode-25-bonus-round-second-announcement/
