  1. So I clicked on one of the to many emails I receive daily from Groupon becuase "iconic amusement park" was in the title. Turns out it was CP tickets for $33.50 good through 9/11 and thought someone might be interested so I went to my browser to look up the details, but couldn't find the deal directly. I am in Columbus and it turns out my location was set to Cincinnati. Turns out if I set my location to Columbus, Cleveland, or Sandusky the deal would show up in search results, but not Cincinnati, Denver, Falls Church and a few other random cities I entered. I have purchased a few things from Groupon but do not have extensive experience. Clearly this is a targeted campaign. I imagine a business could set a deal for only locals or maybe even not for locals depending on their goals. Does anyone with more experience with Groupon know of a way to strip out such filters or a separate service that does so? Or if doing so is any violation?
  2. Kinda hard to stay home when workplaces and schools basically require you to be there every day.Yep, things like this are handled differently in more advanced societies.
  3. Those darn squirrely squirrels. Never had them trip a breaker but have had them in the attic. Covered the hole with sheet metal and they chew right through it. Then it got personal. Yeah if your dog doesn't have access to a cool basement a house can bake really fast.
  4. You probably know this already but if you see TTD running, go ride it. You just never know if it will break down or not. Well it will break down you just doesn't know for how long. Just get a ride on i,t any row, and then if you have time you can run the risk of waiting in the front row line. If you really want to save money, eat at your car, if you get there early and park in the SC lot it is like preferred parking. The lanes are not numbered so I usually line my car up with one of the legs of Ripcord so it is easy to find. If you have any left over fries the gulls much appreciate a snack. Are you sure you want do ride ALL the coasters? My son called Corkscrew "demeaning".
  5. I woul call and ask, my passes are Platinum. One wouldn't think there would be a difference with the gold photo, but you never know.
  6. I was told I wouldn't need a new photo if I renewed online.
  7. http://www.cleveland.com/travel/index.ssf/2016/08/cedar_points_jason_mcclure_tal_1.html#incart_m-rpt-1 McClure said any announcement of what will replace Mean Streak will come after the ride's last operating day, Friday, Sept. 16, the opening night of HalloWeekends. "We'll string it out for a while," said McClure. "We like that people are curious." He added, "The only thing I can tell you right now is that we won't disappoint you with what we do back there." That's nice. He has something for everyone planned back there. No one will be disappointed.
  8. ^ Where would they put a Tornado without removing something? I know the one at KISC has a lift for the rafts, how about the other two? The one at SFSTL does not have a lift. Those rafts are a real pain to lug up the tower assuming they are the same cloverleaf design. We haven't been on the one at KI.
  9. That's sad. I like tunnels. Always watch the tunnel shows on History/Discover Channel. If it has standing water issues probably cheaper to get rid of it that fix them. It also makes sense to remove it from the standpoint that it would no longer be under as much controlled access as in the park. I suspect the concept art was done before MS announcement. Also removing it would would be an indication of their plans. We don't know if it will be removed or when. #saveMeanStreak Again /jk
  10. They could change things, but that's basically how it worked this year. If you or your child/spouse was in a pic you could walk up and get it no problem. Technically they are not checking who is on the pictures you add to your account so you could add any random person. I have added a couple by mistake at a kiosk.
  11. Ever bodies dog has different needs. I personally prefer not to travel with my dog if possible becuase securing a 55lb dog comfortably in a car is not easy and probably not very safe for the dog. Also if the I were to have a breakdown dealing with the dog would be a real hassle while trying to sort things out. I use my local mom and pop kennel becuase the shot records are on file so it is fast and easy and he has a large play yard so she is not couped up all the time and can get some socialization. I have also used pet sitters in the past, some professional sometimes a neighborhood girl who has and likes dogs and will take her on walks. It is all about the same price. I think she is less stressed out staying at home. If you use a kennel make sure the bordetella shot is up to date several weeks ahead of time. Made that mistake once and she got it. It was like having a sea lion for a couple of weeks until it passed.
  12. Reference this page for the fine print. https://www.cedarpoint.com/plan-a-visit/2017-season-pass-offers 1. Yes. But not valid Saturdays. 2. I don't think so, but call and ask. 3. The platinum dining plan is more expensive for Platinum passholders becuase it is valid at all parks. $20- $30 more IIRC I have 4 2016 platinum passes and 3 platinum dining plans and they work at CP&KI. Note: for 2016 I think you could purchase a dining plan for just one park. I ran a test checkout for 2017 a couple of days ago and I do not think that was an option for 2017. It seemed a platinum pass had to have platinum dining. Possible I was doing something wrong as I was just checking pricing. @Disco. Very good points. I don't ride any of the kiddie rides or go to any shows, so I want an "adult thrill seeker" discount.
  13. From the what's new 2017 page. More New Upgrades "Cedar Point Shores will receive a completely new entrance gate, a new poolside bar, new family changing/showering areas, more lounge chairs, additional shade, improved landscaping and unobstructed views of Lake Erie." I really don't understand this last part. All the new stuff is on the other side of SC so what is changing to offer unobstructed views of Lake Erie? The only things that obstruct the view are trees and Magnum. This is a bit better image of the blueprint. http://rollercoasterfreak.com/shores.jpg
  14. There has been some discussion in the CP thread, but considering it is its own gate it sort of makes sense to have its own thread I suppose. Mystic Timbers doesn't quite roll of the tongue either so we have Mr. T. There are high resolution architectural drawings that were revealed at the announcement and have been posted elsewhere that show the new layout. Two separate parks and gates remain. The CP gate is now back by the Magnum photo booth which is gone and maybe a new one. Bickering continues on if the tunnel is staying. It's only one new slide tower and then kiddie splash pads/play/slide areas. I suppose one could call them complexes. While welcome my personal take on it is likened to adding a lane on a beltway interstate. By the time it is completed it is already obsolete and outdated. What they are doing adds very little to capacity and with dropping the new Breakers tower where they are the only place to expand is into the RV/cabin park.
  15. You wouldn't by chance be planning on the 12th or 18th would you?
  16. The plot thickens. Not that Raptor is some huge enthusiast favorite but if it were closing for the season there would be 20 pages or more of speculation on every enthusiast site. Someone in that communication chain misunderstood the sign or confused the name with Mean Streak.
  17. ^ I think your sister got her brains a little rattled on Mean Streak.
  18. Parks don't make any money from families. It's all about hipsters and enthusiasts. That's were the big bucks and growth come from. Parents never spend any money on their kids while they are at a park, so they have to make it up in ticket/pass sales. /s You have got to be kidding me they actually made parents upgrade a preseason pass purchase becuase their kid grew in the off season? (Shaking my head)
  19. So when you are on the drop, which falls faster, you or the rain?
  20. I am sure Chef Nathen will value your input. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/things-to-do/dining
  21. Something goofy happened today at the gate. The associate separated out my wife's and youngest's pass and said I needed to get the pictures retaken becuase there were two people in the photo and that was against the rules. I suspect it was actually my two boys passes with the problem as their photos were taken with my webcam when I purchased them online. It is probably me in the background. Anyway, those passes have been scanned into the CP or KI at least a dozen times this season and this is the first time anyone said anything? I will get the picture retaken but I am not standing in a hour line to do it. Anyone ever had this problem?
  22. I think Chicken Shack and Ice Scream Zone can refill but no dedicated Coca-Cola refill stationsThe lines were mammoth, Ice Scream Zone was completely blocking the midway, and the line out Chicken Shack was starting to cause problems as well.
  23. Just got back from a nice short trip to the park. Arrived about 10:45 Firehawk, Zepher, lunch, Racer, Banshee, The Bat, Eifel Tower, BLSC, Beast. By then the boys were coastered out and we left around 3. The park was packed as I expected on such a nice day. By the time we left the food lines were nuts. Is there drink refill station in Action Zone anywhere? I didn't go hunting over by Invertigo. If there isnt, there needs to be one.
  24. Maybe even connected in that nothing is happening with them for the time being.
