King Ding Dong replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Sears shareholders looking for the next big score. -
^ I didn't need to know that. Now I can't sleep. Thanks.

August 18: We Got Wet...AND Drenched!
King Ding Dong replied to VortexBFForever's topic in Trip Reports
SFSTL had a guard who reguraly launched the slide on 2 instead of 1. I dubbed him Evil Guard. It actually made it more fun. -
"Do not pee or poop in the water." For those who thought this was acceptable. Sigh.

Pioneer Waterland outside Chardon, OH. They have 5 slides and a lazy river.Well at least they have something. I have only been to Zoombezi once this year but not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to reguraly drive to a" full service" park. In my kids perspective a waterpark is just as big a thrill as the dry.

I noticed last week at CP they were selling the Season FunPix for $49, the one day was $39, I think but not sure about that. Putting the screws to the multi-day travelers.

I have 11 & 13 year old boys and water parks have been our staple for years. They will have a blast. Was a ARC Guard and Y Instructor. Life jackets: "Guests are permitted to wear their own life jacket; however it must be Coast Guard certified." I can't recall the exact USCG symbol but it should be printed anything certified. Things like water wings are not certified. CF has a wide variety of jackets available and from what I have seen plenty of them (free). I would use theirs. Comming off the bigger slides can be turbulent so you may want to have a jacket on her. As far as the wave pool is concerned the biggest factor is your swimming and water safety knowledge. I personally do not believe in life jackets for supervised swimming activities for my children however I have training and spent an incredible amount of time and money training my kids from a very young age. If in doubt put a jacket on them and maybe even yourself. The wave pool can get crowded and hectic and getting separated and disoriented can happen in a split second. Safety first. Belongings: I bring old bath towels, cheap beach bags and leave the cell in the car, if you must have your cell get a locker. Never had anything taken except a souviner cup (those have value). Never lost flip flops either, but I am sure it is possible. They are not allowed on slides so everyone just kicks them off at the bottom of the stairs. I do t think $5 flip flops are a hot item. Crocs maybe. Looking at the forecast for Sunday it looks right on the cusp of good water park weather. If it cloudy and the wind picks up being wet might not be comfortable. My oldest is little green alien skinny and gets cold very easily. The best time to get there is at opening or 1/2 hour early for the big slides (trap door and big family raft). Expect longer waits getting there at noon. Does your church offer a Saturday evening service? For body slides (non-tube) I highly recommend a rash guard to protect your back. Depending on body type the slides can be rough on them. CF allows them on slides now but may ask you to tuck them in. (New policy). Makes it easier to sunscreen the kids as well. Bring snacks in is hit or miss. Officially not allowed but if they have a security checkpoint set up some will allow them some will not. (Suggest repackaging into ziplocks and be prepared to take them back out to car without fuss if rejected). Probably less likely to reject fruit slices than cheese its. I personally allow my kids to use goggles because it is unreasonable to expect them to open their eyes underwater in heavily chlorinated public pools, not to mention another point of entry for infection. My oldest needs optical goggles to see anyway. You just can't get to mad at them for loosing them at a waterpark especially a girl without pockets. Be a good citizen and shower before entering the pools, good idea for your own health to do so before leaving the park as well.

Spent $80 this year for KI&CP, so I would go for $60, at least every other year. I am a little disappointed that the only time you see photographers is very early in the day. @SFSTL they are like rats, even wading in the lazy river to grab that oh so flattering shot of you stuffed in a tube.

Cedar Point 2016 Talk
King Ding Dong replied to Bansheeback's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
*cough* *cough* -
Here is video of a kid doing it in his yard. I think it has to be really cold like 0F or less. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GVHJhTnZQO0

Only a dream and impractical but wouldn't it be fun if Diamondback were running and the scoops sprayed out snow? Technically if it was able to operate in freezing conditions and the water could be heated enough I think it would create "snow" similar to adding hot water to a super soaker in freezing conditions.

^ Sometimes parents only want to go once a year and thus use their levers of power to influence things.

The Gate Entusiasts sure are having a great day. I never even knew there was such a thing until recently. This industry has something for everyone! Lol. I agree on tthe power of perspective. But in this instance I am not convinced it is possible to duplicate that photoshopped image without manipulation. I could be wrong but I don't think the track will look that big, but maybe that is my old eyes fooling me. I tell you what, next summer while we are there celebrating the new CPS if you can duplicate that image I will buy you a couple of drinks at the new swim up bar.

fryoj, I really don't want to argue this point on an amusement park forum but I guess when the seasons begin and end is a matter of faith from an individual's perspective. As far as science is concerned and the scientists who the United States Government employ who determine these things Winter begins this December 21st, not in January. https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/news/meteorological-versus-astronomical-summer%E2%80%94what%E2%80%99s-difference

Decoding Episode 2.5: BONUS ROUND! Second Announcement!
King Ding Dong replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
^ They could wrap the tan building and put the big bow on top. Worlds Largest Present. -
More precisely from the farmers almanac WINTER SOLSTICE: December 21, 5:44 A.M. EST. I agree KI could have done better being more precise on their website as CF was on at least one other parks site. To be fair "boarder line fraud" is not as strong a term as fraud so I dont mean to pile on. I am sure they will fix the error shortly after they receive tons of phone inquiries.

Decoding Episode 2.5: BONUS ROUND! Second Announcement!
King Ding Dong replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I agree. This is comming next year. I was poking around some of the other parks sites and it was more explicit on them. Six week starting November 2x, 2017. -
My wife had an employee in NE that invested in some real reindeer as a winter side business. Of course the real ones look nothing like Rudolph, and those antlers are HUGE and dangerous so they were always kept behind a barrier and on a bridle so the kids could still pet them. Taking the boys to see them became a tradition that I miss.

^ Get the lingo right. CF calls that a Protein Spill.

It sure would be cool if that new slide tower were really installed next to Dragster as shown in the photo. it would be similar to the path for The Bat. Edit: https://www.cedarpoint.com/what-s-new/cedar-point-shores-water-park It is not just the trap door slides, more tube slides, dinning options, new adult pool, shower house, gate, cabanas (with TV lol. ). New kiddie area. Afoot indeed. Edit 2: New Breakers tower for 2018 in addition to the BE expansion already underway. CF is dropping some major coin up there especially if they do something soon with MS.

Based on past experience how quickly do the prices go up on Platinum? When I bought new in May or June I think they were $204 and were recently $210, but if I recall correctly the renewal price was $180ish. The free FL is not something I would be able to use. So is the FL the only real benefit to not waiting until Spring? Edit: CoasterRZ: I don't see a mention of the bring a friend free, where am I missing it?

I suppose the randomness is the deterrent, similar to random DUI checkpoints, the random TSA intensive searches or an IRS audit. I just hope it does not become necessary to remove your belt and shoes to enter an amusement park.
