  1. I believe that the answer to that question is yes. You will simply have to pay the difference between what you paid for your Gold Pass and what a Platinum Pass is currently selling for. As always, call/ask the park for official confirmation on that though.
  2. I was able to secure a Platinum Pass renewal for KI back in the fall, for less than $150, but that was a special deal offered on a company buy out day, exclusively for that company buy out day. It shaved $25 off the price the Interpreter mentioned.
  3. From FunWorld Magazine, the magazine published by IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions). http://www.iaapa.org/industry/funworld/2011/apr/features/FoodBeverage/index.asp
  4. Yeah, just like this past Saturday was supposed to be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain, and it ended up pouring and thundering most of the day. And just my luck, it is nice during the week, but when I have to go down to Coney for interviews on Friday it will be cold and rainy again! They certainly are getting down to crunch time. The park opens in less than three weeks, and they still haven`t even started testing the ride...
  5. My pleasure. I`m reading some very relevant articles in FunWorld Magazine which I will also be sharing links to!
  6. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20110410/NEWS01/104110301/Life-s-roller-coaster-ride-woman-88-?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE Very interesting article, and definitely worth a read.
  7. And hasn`t Cedar Fair seen per caps spending continue to trend down the last few quarters? Clearly, that could be an indicator that their food prices are too high and they are not maximizing their profits. (Simple Econ 101 right there. Higher prices don`t always mean profit maximization.)
  8. I wish I lived that close to Kings Island! But then again, I would also live very far from Coney...
  9. Yep. Two arms are now up as they continue to work on it this late on a Sunday,!
  10. Because it is not firmly attached to the tower yet. You can see the temporary wood blocking supporting it in the webcam shots.
  11. Well, it is kind of crunch time. Kings Island opens in 20 days!
  12. I unfortunately have never made it to Beech Bend. (I have worked on a project down in Bowling Green at work, unfortunately, I did not get to do any site visits, and it was winter when I was working on it anyways...) One of these days, I`d like to hit up Beech Bend.
  13. I have never been to KI in a tie before. But a couple of times I would swing by their after work, wearing nice business casual clothes, dress shoes, and the like. And I would often get stopped by guests, who thought I was a park employee because of my attire, asking where the restrooms are, or how to get to a certain attraction. I would gladly offer assistance, even though I do not, and have never, worked at KI. Now, working at Coney on the other hand is different. In fact, I have been down at Coney this past week in the same attire, but I was also conducting interviews for the rides department. Hard to believe it is already that time of the year already! I can`t wait for the Ohio parks to start opening!
  14. Glad to see small parks like this one continually invest in the parks. Hopefully, this year is a better year for them, and they don`t have to deal with floods in May that wiped out most of their early summer season.
  15. And the attire that people wear to amusement parks now compared to at the turn of the 20th century (or even in the mid-1900s) is vastly different than it is today.
  16. I actually enjoy Slingshot more than I do Xtreme Skyflyer. Both are fun, and worth $5 if you can manage to buy a ticket to them when they are that cheap. I don`t do them every time I go, but maybe once or twice a season, I will enjoy those attractions. And keep in mind, that the Harry Potter ride down at Universal uses a form of robotic arm ride system. And the Harry Potter ride, is VERY well done in my opinion. Perfect combination of movie projection with actual sets. I was quite impressed with the ride on my two rides on it back in December.
  17. Very nice post, once again Interpreter. Since you brought it up, I`ve been to two Reds games so far this season. Guess how much a cheese coney from the Skyline`s cost? $4.75. For ONE cheese coney. A regular Coke? That`ll be $5. And yet the longest lines I saw on Wednesday night was for the $1 hot dog and drink stand... Both of the two $1 stands had lines, while most of the other stands were nearly empty. (On Saturday, when there was close to a sell out, every food stand had lines, and there were even lines for the mens restrooms!
  18. Well, they can't buy the land. Just the equipment and buildings on the site. It sure seems like the city of Santa Clara is not being very fair to Cedar Fair. I mean if you are leasing property from someone, and they want to take some of your leased property from you withouut changing your terms, then you would be upset. Sure seems like that is what Santa Clara is trying to do.
  19. I also find it funny that in the article about Jeff Gramke it states that they never missed a deadline. Oh really? What was originally supposed to open on April 9, 2000 to "pawprint" pass holders, but didn`t end up opening until April 28th, then was shuttered for a few weeks so "adjustments" could be made?
  20. It can`t be any worse than some of the auto correct functions on iPhones and iPod Touches.
  21. But the site that it is going on had less work needed to it, to get it ready for construction. Ie, the old Flight Commander site would have needed to be demolished first, before they could have started construction, which again is added cost.
  22. The Eli Bridge Ferris Wheel at Coney, while smaller than Dollywood`s, goes faster than Dollywoods. It provides quite a fun little stomach tickler that is not present on Dollywood`s wheel. I highly recommend you make a visit down to Coney to check it out sometime. Excellent trip report. Thanks for sharing! I hope to make it down to Dollywood sometime this spring, but finding time maybe difficult, unfortunately.
  23. I highly doubt that someone is working this late, especially given the weather that we have had this afternoon/evening. More than likely, they have electrical wired in the tower, and someone simply forgot to turn off a light.
  24. Well, as long as they made their customers happy, that is the important issue!
  25. That is good! But you did have problems with your pass scanning? I wonder what their technical issues are? (Gee, as if I don`t solve enough IT issues with my expanded work duties, lol).
