Important Information for those attending KIC Day this Saturday
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I unfortunately, have to work at Coney this Saturday, which is why I will not be attending the event. -
Falcons Fury at Busch Gardens Tampa
CoastersRZ replied to Colonel_SoB_fan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Wow. That does look intense. I wonder if it is the same manufacturer as the drop ride at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I believe that one was a MoseRides install, and I believe they have had issues with it. It was down when I was there back in March of this year. -
Thats not close to what I am thinking...

I have heard you saying Intamin (claiming to have seen track), and I`m calling you out right now saying that I highly doubt it is going to be Intamin. Cedar Fair, especially so far under Ouimet, seems quite pleased with B&M for their latest coaster installs. If you have been on these boards for a while, you would know that I have NEVER worked at Kings Island, let alone on The Beast crew in any season. I have had summer employment at Coney Island in Cincinnati, where I have been a rides manager the last four seasons, and am in my 12th season with the park. Others were absolutely right, when they said you were trolling. Just be careful with what you say and do. Too much trolling and utterly fictitious posts, and you just may disappear for a while...

Ok, Big Sexy. I don`t know who you are, but I have been reading your posts for quite a while. I finally have to say some things. First of all, the vibration on Diamondback, only occurs in a few certain spots on Diamondback, mainly where the track is directly attached to the foundation. This could be a result of the ride foundation not properly absorbing the vibrations caused by the train. It is NOT caused by inferior quality standards at Clermont Steel. Diamondback is still far smoother than even The Beast, hands down. And why are you dis-crediting Arrow as a major player? Back in the 1980s and early 1990s, Arrow was THE steel coaster company. Look how many parks added their hyper coasters and steel loopers and suspended coasters, and mine train coasters. Name any major theme park that doesn`t have at least one Arrow ride. Not to mention that Arrow also made several of the log flumes, as well as the Antique Car rides that can be found at scores of parks. Really? I highly doubt you threw your season pass at him in disgust and didn`t return until Diamondback. Seems pretty silly to me. Then again, most of your posts have been very contradictory and lacking any real sustenance. I wish some people would understand the industry and business and realize that parks do not cater to enthusiasts, and just because one ride addition isn`t the ride you wanted, does not mean that it is not good for the park from a business viewpoint. Remember, that all capital expense projects are there to try and attract more business to the park and in turn more revenues. And yes, it took Kings Island a while to finally get a B&M ride in the park. I think that we have great things in store for us next season at Kings Island. I was at the park on Thursday, and think I have a pretty good idea of the layout as it is taking shape. I`m surprised no one has mentioned it yet...

Yep! They even had a survey crew come out and mark the centerline of the ride last season. But it never got any farther than that!

"Carol Ann`s Carousel" to open in 2015
CoastersRZ replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Hmm. Thats odd. No matter what I do it is truncating the link. http://mysmaleriverfrontpark.org/newsroom.htm Try this link, and click on the first item under the Press Release Archives heading. -
Here is the information. Set to open in 2015, this new carousel will feature hand carved carousel horsed by Carousel Works, of Mansfield, OH. For those of you who have not checked out the Banks and the new Smale Riverfront park in Cincinnati, it is becoming quite a place to go visit. Definitely worth a visit. Especially before or after a Reds game!

And the technical term for the black erosion control devices is "silt fence." They are often used to try and keep mud from crossing where the silt fence is, especially where they are concerned about the dirt covering up neighboring roads/property.

Como Cruisers opens at Coney in 2013
CoastersRZ replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Coney Island Central
If everything goes well, Como Cruisers should open this Saturday, which is when Coney officially opens for its 127th year! I was down there today, and was at Como Cruisers getting the run down. Guests visiting the park will notice lots of fresh new paint around the park and bright new signage. Its hard to believe that this is my 12th season working at Coney. I have seen many things change over the years. Coney will be different in the future just like Kings Island will be different in the future. Nothing stays the same forever. -
I believe that Kings Island`s Antique Cars eventually found there way out to Worlds of Fun, in Kansas City.
-
But is all of their land listed under one parcel? I know that Coney Island in Cincinnati is listed under multiple parcels.

I`d like to get out to Canada`s Wonderland one day. The park seems like a wonderful park, and I have heard nothing but good reviews about it. That being said, on the topic of a B&M hyper and giga in the same park. What is the difference between that, and say a park having two wooden coasters? They are both the same type of ride. Different layouts, height and speed and different experiences. I don`t see what the issue is with Canada`s Wonderland having two similar coasters. As long as it is an investment and a new ride (especially if it turns out to be a new roller coaster), I will be happy. And the general public will love it, I`m sure. How many people in the general public consider Diamondback to be one of the best coasters in the park? Quite a few. Anything in that spot will certainly bring some life and energy back to Action Zone. And since Kings Island is a business, hopefully some more attendance and revenue.

Coney doesn`t need a big wow now that The Beach has reopened. Nothing has really changed. The Beach was open in 2011, and Coney did just fine that season. Coney has a new ride for this season. And remember, ideas are always being floated around for future seasons. Some nice improvements could be coming in coming seasons. (And no, I`m not talking about the coaster that we almost got, which i think would have been a home run for Coney.)

Good-Bye Coney? River Downs Racino Looming
CoastersRZ replied to pilotank's topic in Coney Island Central
The new Cruisers are in the water (and were put in last week). They are still working on the dock for them. I actually have the ride manual on my desk right now. The boats are electrically powered, and do not run on gas. So hopefully they will be more reliable than the now defunct Bumper Boats. -
Nice! Without sound footing and knowledge one often does not have a leg to stand on when discussing such situations. Not to mention when the subject at hand is related to footings (although not directly what your post was referencing).

That certainly sounds like a lot of lawyer speak!

Please read the Terms of Service: Posts like yours without any attempt at proper capitalization and very little punctuation are nearly impossible to read. The TOS requires that you use proper spelling, capitalization, and punctuation for that very reason. Please do so. And you sir, need to leave the moderating to us moderators. Thanks for making this poster aware of the ToS, but there was perhaps a more tactful way to inform this poster of the standards of posting around here.

Pics of the "Beach" from today 5/4
CoastersRZ replied to Jayblazer's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Thanks for sharing. The place is looking good, although you are right, they have a lot of work to do! -
What did I miss? me doing an edit...I spelled something wrong when I was mentioning something else spelled wrong. I noticed that too. I think it is simply just a typo and nothing else. I`m sure it is a lot cheaper to reprint a strip than to reprint all those banners.

I have had issues with my Platinum pass both this year and last year at Carowinds and Kings Dominion. The Kings Dominion issue occurred on their opening day, where they could see that I had renewed my Platinum Pass, but its effective date ended in December of 2012. Twenty minutes of waiting in line at Ticketing/Season Pass services at Kings Dominion, the issue was fixed. You would have thought that such a simple thing would be fixed. Its not like we are buying a cheap KI pass. I shelled out over $150 for my Platinum Pass.

It was a fun time. Even with the large crowds that were in the park. Glad to be back at Kings Island. Thanks for the PTR, Brad! It was good seeing you again!

Good-Bye Coney? River Downs Racino Looming
CoastersRZ replied to pilotank's topic in Coney Island Central
Exactly. And keep in mind, Coney is really close to the Ohio River too, so flooding is a definite issue. Its not uncommon for Sunlite Pool to become filled with river water from flooding in the spring. (That water is drained and refilled with the well water before the pool opens for the season). Well, Coney is getting a new ride this year, Como Cruisers, replacing the troublesome Bumper Boats. xJoshhyX, so it is not a coaster, but it is a new ride...
