6-alarm Fire at Seaside Park NJ Boardwalk
CoastersRZ replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Wow. So sad. Fires can destroy things so quickly. -
About thirty to forty minutes, depending on the ride. Some rides, like Round Up hold 42 per cycle. While other rides like Ferris Wheel are slow by their inherent slow loading process. Please also note that due to the fireworks, Pedal Boats will not stay open the entire six hours the rides are open. Also note, that Kellogg Avenue will also close when the fireworks are going off.
-
Also note that Coney`s Classic Rides will be open from 3pm until 9pm. The first fireworks go off at 8:30pm.

And if I am not mistaken, both Dinosaur and the Indiana Jones rides use the same ride vehicle design. -
New for 2014 at Holiday World...
CoastersRZ replied to McSalsa's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They list next year`s additions as costing $8 million. http://www.holidayworld.com/news/holiday-world-sets-sail-8-million-expansion -
Let me guess: you helped design it, Mr. Architect? Well, I`m technically not an architect yet. My official title is an intern architect. I have so far only taken one out of the seven licensure exams to get my Architect license. I passed the structures portion so far.

I can assure you that the station for Banshee will work. They aren`t going to install a ride as expensive as Banshee if the loading station doesn`t work.
-
Excellent trip report, Brad! One day I will get out to Indiana Beach.

Well Vic is steady at the helm of Coney for now. And I think they already have someone lined up to replace him, when he eventually retires. He has been at Coney since 1984. And yes, I never say never. I know strange things can happen.

The crews were working on the ride today until about 1:30. They must have stopped working early because of the holiday weekend. When I rode Drop Tower, they were installing a support element that will be between the transfer track area and immediately outside of the station. There was also a crew busting up the old King Cobra footing. You could see and hear the jackhammer when riding Adventure Express today. It doesn`t look like much new track has arrived recently either. I`d imagine that we will see Clifford doing some heavy lifting next week. It seems like the park still has a lot of work to do to set up Haunt. The only visible Haunt construction is limited. Cemetery Drive in the Tower Gardens has received a nice new wood facade. And there were also props behind Stunt Crew Grill, and visible outside of the Crypt building. I also saw the usual Haunt props over by the Zephyr from The Racer. We are only about three weeks away from opening of Halloween Haunt, which opens on September 20th.

No Bart at Coney either...
-
The ride that has been idled all season has been the Trabant ride. Unfortunately, as much as I would love to see a set of flying scooters installed at Coney, we are not going to be getting that kind of ride. We are going to be getting a more nauseating and intense creation.

Six Flags: New for 2014
CoastersRZ replied to Ride On_17's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Sad to see Rolling Thunder leaving at Six Flags Great Adventure. I really enjoyed that ride on my visit there. But Zumanjaro looks pretty intense! A drop ride from 415 feet at 90 miles an hour! It is also neat how the ride is situated right in between Kingda Ka and on the same side of the launch track. When I had heard rumors about this ride, I thought that the drop ride would be on the side facing away from the launch track. -
Six Flags Announcement Day: 08.29.2013

Those Six Flags commercials were great and so catchy! Gotta love some "We like to party." -
Thats what I was thinking to. What was the last ProSlide slide that Cedar Fair installed? Was it the racing slide up at Cedar Point last year?
-
I wonder if that price will be universal across all the parks. Cedar Point, with its separately gated water park, could benefit from charging a bit more for their Platinum Pass for those locals that want to enjoy both Cedar Point and their Soak City water park. In my opinion, that price point is getting a bit high. I mean, it means you essentially are paying about $100 more for a platinum pass, which means you need to visit at least three times, in order to make it worth it to get a Platinum Pass. I still wish that they would offer some across the board discounts on food for Platinum Pass holders like 10% off of food purchases in the parks.

Is this a ProSlide or White Water West installation? It looks like a fun slide with lots of varying experiences. As others have said, Kings Island`s Soak City could use something like this. If nothing else to help with capacity during the summer months. I didn`t make it out to Soak City this year, but my one visit last year, there were long lines every where. I still hope that KI would get a ProSlide water coaster similar to Mammoth or Wildebeast at Holiday World. Those were two fun and awesome rides. Well worth the hour wait that I waited for each of them when i went to Holiday World earlier this year.
-
It looks like they took the fence down next to the Ice Scream Zone. At least temporarily anyway. They assembled the big red crane today. I think they actually started yesterday.
-
Titl A Whirl isn`t that great at capacity. It only has seven cars. Which if you figure 3 people per car is only 21 per cycle. Round Up can handle 42 per cycle. And Flying Bobs can handle at least 36 per cycle. Even the carousel can handle quite a few per cycle as there are 30 horses. Scream Machine on the other hand only can handle 10 people per cycle, but its ride time is really short.
-
It will certainly be interesting. Although it will be a low capacity attraction. But a low capacity attraction is better than a ride sitting closed all season.
-
I think that it was installed on the transfer track area of the ride.
-
That is NOT the station. Trust me, I know the station area very well. That is the transfer track area, which is adjacent to the station.
