  1. It amazes me how fast they're assembling this coaster. Just insane! -S
  2. Leave it to Six Flags to do something stupid like that. -S
  3. I'm weird, in knowing the date of my first trip to KI, which was Oct. 2, of 1992. So I did get a glimpse of KI in the KECO days, which was cool. I was really excited, as I've never been to an amusement park at that point. Anyway, notable events: -Seeing the Eiffel Tower from the bottom and top for the first time. -Riding my first coaster, The Beastie. I was 8, but for some reason, we tackled The Beast and had a rather rough ride. -Hanging out in HB, notably Scrappy's Slide. I thought it was cool... lol. But that's about the extent of early KI memories for me. I think at one point I wanted to operate Top Gun when I was like 10, but I thought it was a pipe dream. Then I ended up being a ride op 9 years later. How strange... -S
  4. Sounds like Dollywood likes to charge a premium for their park. I've never been there, so the high price sort of turns me off. On the flip side, some of the positive viewpoints have me interested. So I'm kind of split. Either way, it seems like a pretty interesting park. -S
  5. Awesome. Though I'm kind of curious what the construction site looks like now. Where's Nemo and his plane? -S
  6. I think the name of the website/article/segment/whatever says it all. Shallow and tacky. Cuz that's what it is. -S
  7. I was working at Monster back in 05 and I stumbled upon a nice Zippo, baking in the sun. It's not everyday people leave an expensive lighter like that on purpose, and I guess people are forgetful. Something tells me that it's quite common to see those Sports Quarts littered about the park by forgetful guests. Pay a bundle for it, and then leave it without even thinking twice...
  8. That's pretty sweet! Nice to see the site get some publicity like that. Congrats on the article, Ryan! -S
  9. I would think they would, but that's at any place like that. Avatar, nice trip report! It was very thourough, and I'll definitely keep that in mind if I were to do anything like that in the future. Sure does seem like sensory overload, and the pictures really helped too! -S
  10. The Article In Question It does mention something about a new KI attraction, but no details. Hey, at least one is on the way. -S
  11. I mildy remember this slogan from around '01 or so. "We'll take you higher, and by higher we mean taller!" Ok... so it's sort of lame. But it was worth a shot. Oh well. -S
  12. I came from the year 20X6, then my time machine bwoke. Excuse me while I eat some Power Crunch.... -S
  13. All three of those coasters are pretty decent. But a giga coaster would be nice, if not a dramatic move by CF as it could steal a little bit of CP's thunder. But I honestly don't have much hope for seeing anything in the way of a new attraction for KI. Considering how expensive the purchase was for CF, and putting in Maverick at CP and Valleyfair's new attraction, they are dropping a lot of cash right now. Which is probably why they went ahead and let Paramount go ahead with what they had planned for 2007. Good luck with seeing anything major, though. -S
  14. I would tend to agree on IJST's placement. I mean, KI has plenty of land to expand on. They're not "Landlocked" like CP is, and Tiques happened to be quite a different take on the park experience. It was more of a wind-down ride than it was more of a "kiddy ride"; at least that's how it seemed to me. IJ is a decent coaster, as long as the theming works well. If not, it just takes away from the experience that was meant for it. Oh well, we'll see how CF sorts this one out.
  15. Gah. Delete this, admins! I need to use the search feature more often. ~S~
  16. I felt that this was somewhat KI related, so here you are. Our old freind Jeff Siebert is in the latest Coasterbuzz podcast, talking about the Waterpark industry. I figured someone would probably want to take a listen to Jeff, so here. Coasterbuzz Podcast Webpage ~S~
  17. Odd, I didn't know ST:TE and Bonfante gardens was part of the deal. ~S~
  18. I'd honestly be suprised if CF would do anything positive for SOB. On one hand, you could demolish the ride and "magically erase" all the bad publicity surrounding it. Then again, they'd have to figure in how much it would be to demolish it, but CF is in the hole with this purchase as far as I know. Best case scenario: SBNO... that's about all the faith I have for it. ~S~
  19. If that's the case, someone didn't use the search feature! Irony! ~S~
  20. You do bring up a good point. But if there was a way to stop the filing down or whatnot, do you think the PVC stick would be practical? Not that I'm questioning the reliability of good 'ol wood and rubber, just curious as if to CF will think about the way Paramount went about height checking. ~S~
  21. I don't know about that totally, as sometimes the height scale might be messed with throughout the day by bored ops at the greeter post (Guilty...). So there might be some inaccuracies because of that, but not all the time. CP uses a PVC height stick (I think that might be what that is) that is the exact same length as the required height, rather than a wooden stick for height checking. It probably wouldn't hurt to have both tools at greeter, just in case one is wrong or needs adjusting. ~S~
  22. Talk about screwed up. Oh well, I guess it's all about the bottom line... ~S~
  23. For a Vekoma, that is. Vekomas are notorious for being headbangers. ~S~
  24. Good chance that she didn't, as it would be kind of strange to be Jolie's kid. Jolie-"Make me do the Lara Croft voice again, and I swear I will end you. Don't even try me." ~S~
