Rain every few days or whatever is a lot different than being exposed to that every day.

I think fog is a horrible idea around and coaster. All the extra moisture in the air can't be good for the steel.

Are Standup Coasters Dead?

I dont see any new ones being built anytime soon but I don't wont the older ones torn down. Mantis really strained my cafes alot during my first ride. -
If you go in the White Ware Canoyon entrance the line seemed alot shorter. It looked to me as if they had the line forming on two different sides. We waited about 15 minutes around 9:00PM.

Anyone else think the hours are kind of short. For as crowded as it was on Saturday we didnt get to do much and we were there from almost open to close.

A show building in rivertown with a western show would be awesome. They could even use the old Crypt building.
-
They could have been using a park in house camera. My family of 3 came and we wanted to get a picture of everyone in the globe together and would have gladly paid $15 for it.
-
Did anyone find it strange that the snow globe were you can get your picture taken didnt have a park employee there taking pictures?

The staff was great on Saturday and really friendly. Almost Dollywood like. The park was super packed so we didnt get to do much but what we did do it was really fun. With the amount of crowds though it was disapointing to see alot of the registers closed.

We saw the magic show and that was it. Time flew by so fast at the park. I forget the name of the one we went to but it had fried chicken which was amazing and all the veggie fixings along with a taco bar. I didn't know the park had other buffets. We are planning to make another trip in the spring, summer and around Halloween time next year. The amount of land clearing they are doing right now is crazy. It looks like they are doing more than just a ride to me. Maybe an entire new area.

Holiday World 2018 additions

I love kiddie slides and the small wave pool is a awesome idea. Hopefully they keep that wave pool age/weight restricted. -
Last Friday I surprised my family and got everyone 2018 Dollywood passes as we are in the Pigeon Forge area a lot. I hurried home after work and tossed some clothes in the bag and headed to Pigeon Forge. We arrived to a cabin that our friends had rented for the week around 12:30AM and we slept on the pull out bed. The next morning we had a nice breakfast with everyone and headed to Dollywood. I think we got to the park shortly after open. After wondering around the main entrance area for a few minutes trying to find season pass processing we found an employee who told us it was inside the park. I thought that was strange. We wondered over to the season pass processing center where we got a pictures and passes in about 5 minutes. The first ride up was the old cars. I love these and KI really needs a set. We waited 15 minutes for these and were an instant hit with my son. We start to walk away from the area to get my son something to eat when I heard a group of guest talking about Lighting Rod was open. Well the coasterboy in me just had to ride! I waited about 40 minutes to get on and got a front seat ride. This ride is awesome and the airtime is top notch not to mention how well it fits into the terrain. Next we headed over to the train. The train that Dollywood has is truly something special. It only runs once an hour though. Our son didn't like how loud the whistle on it was but I thought it was pretty awesome. AFter the train we watched the magic show which was really fun even though it seemed like it a pitch to sell things from the magic store. It was almost ready for an early dinner we we tried the buffet. It was pretty good food and top notch for a themepark. After dinner we let the little guy ride some of the kiddie rides and I stunk a ride in on Thunderhead which gave me a thunder of a headache. It was already closing time and time to head back home. We are super glad to be able to make it Dollywood for the Christmas event and the weather held off for us. Can't wait for the next trip. On a sidenote: It is awesome Dollywood employees let you reride a ride if there isn't a line. We did this several times on some of the smaller rides!

Would a ride like hangtime fit in Invertago's footprint?

I wonder how they will time the sessions. Are they going to clear out the rink every 30 minutes?

Closure of Dinosaurs Alive and opening of lots of land.

I thought I heard some years back that the Cincinnati Zoo and Kings Island were exploring the possibility of doing some kind of joint effort? -
Just a thought but it could be the location the parks are in. The surrounding area of Dollywood is pretty much a tourist economy versus the Kings Island/Cincinnati area.
-
$6 dollars a person though is a big difference when your paying for a family. Not to mention there is not a time limit.
-
I think the ice skating price is a little high. I mean it would cost my family of 3 to ice skate for 30 minutes $45.00! When you can go to fountain square and ice skate for $6.00 and no time limit.

I never understood the reason behind reusing a station. I mean if your spending $30 million dollars on a new coaster why not just spend the extra $50,000 to throw up a new shed? Just tossing those numbers out there. I mean I can see reusing some stations like The Vortex since that is a little more than than but the Son of Beast station is just a concrete platform a metal roof. -
IF you ever go on crowded days the lines for the food and ice cream is horrible and what makes it more flustering is the park has shops that are closed even on crowded days. Point in case the Coke Freestyle area by the train. I think I saw open one time on my 28 visits this year. Maybe they need to have an area where they cook the food and deliver to smaller restaurants throughout the park.

I am not an engineer by any means but I am pretty sure you can build a roller coaster on all most any kind of terrain as long as the ground can support it. I think the bigger issue would be developing the pathways. -
We had the meal plan this year and sometimes we found are selfs eating just because we could. While I think the value of the meal plan is great we are going to avoid is this year for the sake of our waistlines.
-
Not that I think the park would let it get in the way but they would need to move the firework launching pad.
-
I have been going to the park many years and I don't think I have ever seen that. While I love the Haunt I avoid it almost every year because I can't handle the crowds.

If this the rumored antique cars it will never live up to the original set that Kings Island had. Just saying.
